The worship service begins with a Land Acknowledgement of the Ohlone People from the U.S. department of Arts and Culture. A variety of prophetic words are read: from “I’m Still Here: Black Dignity in a World Made for Whiteness” by Austin Channing Brown read by Stephanie Easton; from Amos 5:15-24 read by Akash Amalarsan; from “Sister Outsider” by Audre Lorde read by Nina Mundi; from Isaiah 58:6-12 read by The Rev. Irene Pak Lee; from “No Future Without Forgiveness” by Desmond Tutu read by Ronni Pahl; from “A Black Theology of Liberation” by James Cone read by Marion Lee. Following a recording of the Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., the Rev. Sammie Evans preaches to the Stone Church of Willow Glen from Matthew 25:34-40 and the “International Association for the Advancement of Creative Maladjustment”. Stone Church Chancel Choir sings “How Long?” by Pepper Choplin and “Sound Over All Waters” by Paul Halley directed by Nancy Kromm. Pam Hood, Interim Organist accompanying.
