TGBA, Radio Maya from Barillas, Huehuetenango, Guatemala was a rare visitor to my headphones in the early 1970's.  However, I managed this recording of their Spanish language identification including call letters, location and frequency (they seem to announce 3320 but my records have them on 3325 kHz) in the 90 metre band.  In any event, you can hear time signal station CHU on nearby 3330 kHz if you listen carefully. Part 3 - Point to point stations were commonly found on shortwave in the 1970's outside of the normal SWBC bands. They could often be heard transmitting a repeating test message so a receiving station could tune them in prior to conducting radiotelephone traffic. These recordings were all made at Ancaster, Ontario, Canada, using either a Hallicrafters S52 or Realistic DX150A receiver hooked up to a long wire antenna. 1.  U.S. Army radio station ACA, Panama Canal Zone 2.  Oostende Radio,...

CKOC Radio in Hamilton, Ontario, Canada celebrates 100 years on the air this year (2022).  My parents met while working there in 1947 or 1948. They were married in 1949. WB6MID/8R3 was the radio callsign used by operators at the Peoples Temple Agricultural/Medical Project at Jonestown, Guyana in the 1970's. Most of the cult members who lived in Jonestown died on November 18, 1978 of an apparent mass suicide dictated by their leader, the Reverend Jim Jones.  Attached is a QSL card (JPEG under Download Options) sent out by the station for a contact made with VE3HLC in Ancaster, Ontario, Canada on July 2, 1978, along with copies of the logbook pages for both...

Back in the 1970s, Radio Canada International ran a very popular interval signal series on their SWL Digest program.  This was hopefully to help DXer's identify that sought after station.  I recall recording a few of these programs, and while going over one of my old cassette tapes recently, I came across a segment where they were presenting a number of African interval signals.  Subsequently, I have uncovered four additional segments, or at least, portions of them.
