across the country and rain across east anglia which cleared through. more sunshine across england and wales. rain at times across central scotland. not as heavy this afternoon and to the north a bit chilly compared to further south, but all temperatures above average, the warmest new year's eve on record. showers turning up in the west, but these are the temperatures as we start 2022, well above where they should be for an early january morning and that will be the case as we go into saturday. many places dry and clear. not quite as warm as last night but temperatures above levels than they should beat during the afternoon. new year's day, showers pushing eastwards smartly. most will spend the bulk of the day dry it with some sunshine and again, temperatures on the very mild side.
