Seems to me that one man's "justice" is another man's "revenge;" one man's "hero," another man's "terrorist." History, in a sense, is like watching a circus dog chasing it's tail, forever; never understanding that he is, in fact, attempting to attack himself.

And to what barbarous codes of law are we to attribute the source of this sentiment: "...it is a shame that Mussolini's descendants were allowed to survive." It's got that old familiar ring of Torah in it.

I figure that rather than offer a review I would join everybody else & offer an opinion. Footnotes are reference points which if properly used give credibility to the narrative. That said the discussion of whether or not this film footage is appropriate here or is accurate and , whether or not the peoples actions were justified is irrelevant. In the first instance it ( the film) is what it is just a celluloid tape & Ag. Hallide recoding light reflection from objects& people . For veracity it’s source is documented .In the second instance one cannot judge actions a of others without being a subject and or participant in the event, and then only without prejudice (I know impossible) Itry to remember that we are all everything & have a capacity for unconditional love or manifest greed & hatred. The value of this is to remind us graphically that violent mob mentality cannot be considered to be an aberration of the past. The line can be crossed anytime, as recent events in the U.S. illustrate.

While certainly no one deserves to be treated like an animal. Whether a viewer thinks this was "M's just desserts", or an atrocity in its own right. To refrain from posting evidence like this, is almost like saying it did not happen. Viewers should be able to watch or not watch. Perhaps the point of view is that this is near pr0nographic, having no redeeming value. This discussion could serve as an example of its redeeming value, no matter how difficult it may be to watch for some, or even most. When something invokes feelings, it is perhaps important enough to save.

While Mussolini would have faced trial as a war criminal, no one deserves to be treated like that. And there were a lot more bodies than just him and his mistress, and not everyone in the crowd was cheering. Sometimes, some discretion is needed about posting.
