>> they will visit the bush family across the street today. lines stretched into the early morning hours. more now from cnn's sunlen serfaty on capitol hill. >> reporter: good morning, dave and christine. there have been so many moving moments to honor the life and legacy of former president george h.w. bush. up here on capitol hill, there was so much emotion from his family as they watched his casket slowly brought step by step into the capitol. where he once served as a congressman from texas. his body lies in state at the rotunda at the capitol. it was opened all night for the members of the public to come in and pay respects. earlier in the day, a ceremony on capitol hill where the common theme was not only speaking about the achievements of the former president, but mostly about who he was as a man. he was humble and he was kind and someone who established deep relationships here in washington.

go for misleading vice president pence about conversations with a russian diplomat. in december of 2017, flynn pleaded guilty of lying to the fbi and agreed to cooperate with mueller. the special counsel also expected to file a sentencing memo for former campaign chairman paul manafort. at least some of the memo will be made public. mueller promised to layout specifics of the manafort alleged lies which led to the termination of the plea deal. president trump's contempt for the special counsel appears to be boiling over in the latest twitter rampage which could amount to obstruction of justice or witness tampering. the president urging the maximum sentence for his former personal lawyer michael cohen who flipped on him with two guilty pleas. >> mr. trump tweeted cohen is making up stories to get a deal for himself, his wife and father-in-law so they can get off scott free. notice the president's spelling of "scot free."

murder of journalist jamal khashoggi. some senators slammed the trump administration last week when they were denied a cia briefing on the case. haspel may be able to provide details about the audio tape of the murder and some reported text messages from the crown prince. the briefing last week without haspel triggered a backlash with senators voting to advance the resolution to cut support for the saudis on the war in yemen. republican senator lindsey graham shows saudi arabia that congress is not mugging for the cameras. we are a co-we equal branch of government. -- we are a co-equal branch of government. after all, i think someone has to do it. i think i'm the most qualified person to be president.

a storm system targeting california and the eastern u.s. bracing for colder temperatures. here is meteorologist pedram javaheri. >> dave and christine, good morning. what an incredible pattern. for the second time in as many weeks, we have another system and another impressive system pushing across the western united states. the state that needs the most gets quite a bit of rainfall in the next 24 hours. not just in northern and central california, but southern california picking up significant rainfall over the next couple days. potentially making los angeles one of the wettest spots in the country. this all translates to higher elevation sierra snowshowers which is great for the water reserve for next summer.

report. assault allegation against former kansas city chiefs running back kareem hunt. he is accused of kicking a man in january in a nightclub. he and others hit the victim and breaking his rib and nose. the chiefs released hunt on friday after video showed hunt assaulting a woman in february. he has since apologized. another domestic violence case came up on monday night football. washington claimed reuben foster after being cut by the 49ers following allegations of domestic battery. jason witten, a former tight end, says it sends the wrong message. >> the redskins willing to take a chance on fostreuben foster. should they? >> 100% no. i believe the washington redskins used who ahorrendous judgment in claiming this guy. my family has been affected by
