[cheers and applause] >> great efforts of state senate led by speaker bryan and let's not forget -- let's not forget dock brown. we are thinking about him tonight.
11:38 am
[cheers and applause] >> we are soon starting the era in the senate with the whole crew there, we are on the right track here in indiana and we are about to run the score even more judging by the results that come in day after day after day. [cheers and applause] >> from our growing economy to superior infrastructure to our greatest asset, our people, our workforce, we are experiencing some serious momentum here in indiana and we are taking it to the next level year after year after year. so before we get to main event, let me just play you a real quick highlight and you will see why everyone knows that the heart of the heartland is rocking, so here we go. we have a triple a rating, the best you can get, balanced budget and we live within our means, we have $1.7 billion in cash reserves, 11% of total annual operating budget in the state of indiana and this year with your support, we are going
11:39 am
to finish mike pence's work and we are going to put balance budget amendment in state constitution and every generation after us is going to have to live within their budget as well. [applause] >> ranked the best in the midwest and among the best in the nation, regulatory climate and environment is reasonable and rational and predictable and thanks to president trump and vice president pence and the members of our congressional delegation, yes, led by senator todd young and you're about to get a partner, our congressional delegation, they all, we finally saw our federal taxes cut and our antigrowth federal policies rolled back just like we've been doing here in the state of indiana for over a decade now. in indiana, our debt is low, our pensions are funded and we have the second lowest cost of living in the nation so your dollar
11:40 am
goes a lot further, anywhere in the state of indiana that doesn't say it does, across the board or illinois, but wait, i'm not tired of winning. [laughter] >> the rich state, poor states report and i think senator is here, you can confirm, indiana ranks third in the nation for this year's economic outlook and we are living up to it. last year you may hear the vice president talk about it since he gets to talk about last, last year we broke the all-time job commitment record and we are on track this year to break that record again. we have a record high employment and a record low unemployment and per capita more than growth rate, indiana was ranked one of the three freest states in the nation. [applause]
11:41 am
>> by the way we launched the submarine it's called the uss indiana. [applause] >> ladies and gentlemen, that's all the reasons why we hoosiers are growing and going. that's why we are leading and leaving the competition behind. now, it's important for me to note as we welcome the vice president back home in indiana that hoosiers aren't only doing amazing things in the state of indiana, why we are lucky to have the terrific trio and i'm going to list them in the order that they are on the ballot, cony lawson, terra and kelly mitchell in indiana, from dan coats, to alex azar, jarome
11:42 am
adams,. hoosiers in nation's capitol, they helped put indiana on the right back and they are helping put indiana in the right track and it doesn't stop there. [applause] >> it doesn't stop there, ladies and gentlemen, hoosier moment goes way beyond that, way higher than that, all the way up to the second highest office in the land with the leader that we can count on w a public servant we can be proud of, ladies and gentlemen, please welcome the vice president of the united states of america, my friend, your friend, our friend, mike pence. [cheers and applause]
11:43 am
11:44 am
national republican senate ronna mcdaniel, it is my great honor to be here for the 2018 indiana republican fall dinner 25 days away from a great hoosier victory for republican candidates in all 92 counties. [cheers and applause] >> it really is a joy for us to be with y'all tonight, thanks for coming out, thanks for supporting the republican cause and all great candidates that we are here to talk about this evening and how great is it to have the second lady of the united states of america karen pence with us here tonight, would you all mind showing karen pence just how proud you are of the job she's doing, all across this country every day? [cheers and applause]
11:45 am
>> my wonderful wife has been taking what she brought to riley children's hospital to our therapy program, she's been taking it around the nation and frankly around the world, great hoosier experiences and coming along side military spouses, i couldn't be more proud of the work she's doing every day and so thank you for acknowledging her so warmly. before i begin tonight, i know why we are all here for a great evening and great celebration. i know our hearts are with our fellow americans along the gulf coast and throughout northern florida, georgia, alabama and the carolinas who are as we speak recovering from the catastrophic damage brought by hurricane michael, we grief for the loss of life, our hearts goes out to all of the families that have suffered loss and
11:46 am
enterprises and families that have been dislocated are on our hearts. we are proud of our first responders. we are proud of our armed forces and i especially want to thank governor holcomb for deploying indiana task force one that's already in panamá city. [laughter] >> showing up just like they always do. the hard road to recovery begins now my fellow republicans so in addition to keeping our fellow americans in your prayers it's possible for you to support, volunteer organizations that are already on the scene, we encourage you to do that, you can go to nvoad.org for national volunteer organizations like to red cross or samaritan first that are deployed all over the region as our fellow countrymen recover from this incredible loss and i want to assure my fellow hoosiers that we will be with all of those affected until we rebuild the areas impacted
11:47 am
bigger and better than ever before. [applause] it really is great to be back, though, great to be back home again. and i'm here for one reason and one reason only and that is that last november 2016 indiana delivered a historic victory for america and we need indiana to deliver another historic victory on november the sixth. [applause] >> when we reelect this great republican team and when we make mike brau, in the next senator from the state of indiana. [cheers and applause]
11:48 am
>> i'm going to have more to say about that in a bit but, mike, we are grateful to you and your family for stepping up, for the campaign that you continue to wage, we couldn't be more proud. let me begin tonight by bringing greetings from a friend of mine, and a great friend of mike braun, a man that people of indiana voted to make the 45th president of the united states of america, i bring greetings from president donald trump. [cheers and applause] >> isn't he something? [laughter] >> i will tell you -- [laughter] >> he and i've gotten to be very close, become very good friend and i tell you it's greatest honor of my life to serve as vice president along side a president that gets up every day
11:49 am
and fights to keep the promises that he made to the people of indiana and the people of america. [applause] >> and we are winning. and i have to tell you just like the governor just said a minute ago, indiana had a lot to do with me being along side. one of our first conversations he sat me down and said, tell me how you've done that in indiana? how did you cut taxes and roll back regulations and still balance budgets and create record employment? he looked at the example that republicans have in state of indiana and he said, we are going to bring that kind of leadership to the white house and to washington, d.c. and that's exactly what president donald trump has done with hoosier support. [applause] >> you know, the president's
11:50 am
energetic leadership on full display over the last week or so, you all saw the news about a week ago the president signed the largest trade deal in american history, the united states-méxico-canada agreement is reached and it puts american workers and american farmers first. [applause] >> middle of last week we got word that the unemployment rate reached a 50-year low and as you all may have heard in the news today after two years in prison in turkey thanks to president trump's determined leadership american pastor andrew brunson is coming home. [cheers and applause] >> lastly, just like you saw a week ago saturday when i had the great privilege to preside, preside over a vote in the
11:51 am
united states senate, thanks to the president's choice and the strong leadership of the republican majority in the senate, a week ago the u.s. senate confirmed justice brett kavanaugh to the supreme court of the united states of america. [cheers and applause] >> justice brett kavanaugh is a principle jurist and as the president said we believe he's going to be one of the great justices in the history of the supreme court. he's going to interpret the constitution as written and he'll i hold all god-giving liberties and we couldn't been able to confirm without the unwavering support of senator todd young. senator, would you stand up and just take a bow? thank you so much for your strong leadership and your
11:52 am
support. [applause] >> you know, the truth is the way some democrats in the united states senate conducted themselves in that confirmation process was just terrible. the democrats literally traded advice and consent for search and destroy. set aside fairness, set aside the presumption of innocence, just to drive a political agenda and the truth of the matter is indiana's other senator was there every step of the way and it's just one more reason why indiana needs to send mike braun to the united states senate. [applause] >> so we have been making great progress, we truly have and from the very first day of the
11:53 am
administration president trump has been keeping his word to get the economy moving, it's not only been new trade deals that are putting american jobs and american workers first but thanks to the strong support of the republican majorities in the house and senate president trump has actually signed more bills rolling back federal red tape than any president in american history. [applause] >> we have unlearned american energy as never before but proven keystone in dakota got us out of disastrous paris climate accord and america is exporting energy in categories for the first time ever. [applause] >> and right before christmas with the strong support of republican majorities, president trump put his signature on the largest tax cut and tax reform in american history, that's
11:54 am
promises made and promises kept, indiana. the tax cuts we passed, working families will impact hoosiers about $2,100 a year that they're able to keep, businesses in indiana would continue to keep up the record pace, the governor holcomb creating jobs large and small and the truth is you look all over the country and the results are remarkable. tremendous affirmation that hoosiers place in this president and republican majority in 2016. since election 2016 businesses large and small have created 4.2 million new good paying jobs all across america including more than 50,000 jobs in the hoosier state alone.
11:55 am
[applause] >> manufacturing is making a comeback all across america, nearly 400,000 new good-paying jobs at factories all across the country, unemployment rate hasn't been this low since 1969 and the president and i couldn't be more proud. we set a new record, lowest unemployment ever recorded for african americans and hispanic americans, the american dream is working again for every american. [applause] >> really is remarkable one statistic after another. i could tell my fellow hoosiers, he just kind of always knew it, he really did, back on the campaign trail i will never forget, mike, that the president asked me to go with him up to new york city, we unveiled the campaign's economic platform, one of the big fancy events like this one, big stage and we were
11:56 am
backstage right behind the same blue curtains and he was looking at his speech just like the speech i've got in front of me and reading it with the economist standing next to him and he said, we are going to cut taxes, roll back regulation, unleash energy and reads the speech and i believe we are going to achieve 3% economic growth by the end of our first term. and he looked at the economist and said, well, i think it's going to be more than that. [laughter] >> true story. and they said, well, you know, it might, could be but, you know, an economist in america that said that we would be back in 3%, the last administration averaged 2% economic growth for the last 8 years, people riding entire books about the fact that the new normal was this weak economic growth but there he was, 3% and he said, well, i think it's more than that, well, let's just say 3 and if it's more -- if it's more than 3, you know, that'll be good and he said, well, okay, but i think
11:57 am
it'll be more, go look at youtube, check it out, happened exactly like this. i'm sitting right next to him, true story and he gets through, we are going to cut taxes, roll back regulations, unleash american energy and i'm establishing a national goal of 4% economic growth for the united states of america. [applause] >> true. he pointed backstage and said, they didn't want me to tell you that but he said i really -- i believe it's going to be better than that. you know, all the economists, all the cable tv businesses commentators rolled their eyes, said it wasn't going to happen, the confident indiana played in the president and majorities, last year shy of 3% economic growth and in the second quarter of this year, a year and a half into this administration 4.2%
11:58 am
economic growth and rising. [cheers and applause] >> incredible. there's a lot of credit to go around. a president who has boundless confidence in the american people and the american people to create growth and opportunity, boundless confidence and boundless confidence in vision and agenda and congress willing to get behind it. a lot of credit to go around really and truly but, you know, there's some people out there trying to take some credit, you know, i heard -- i heard my predecessor joe biden who is in indiana today, all right, yeah, i heard that his president former barack obama, right, actually has been traveling around the country talking about the economic miracle, right, talking about the economic boom that's happening across america and former president obama and i
11:59 am
expect joe the same said it actually started under them. [laughter] >> well, i don't think almost anybody noticed, right? i mean, when we took over, when we took over the economy was growing at 2%, now it's about over 4% and rising, you know, the american people know this economic boom is not happening because of the policies of the obama administration. this economic boom is happening because president trump and this republican congress are repealing the failed policies of the obama administration and we are just getting started. [applause] >> it's true. there's jobs, there's opportunities, there's growth and i could just keep on going, i could tell you as proud father of a united states marine, i could tell you i couldn't be more proud to serve with a president who cares so deeply
12:00 pm
about our armed forces, with the republican majority president trump signed the largest increase in national defense since the days of ronald reagan, we are rebuilding our military. [applause] >> we have been standing with our veterans, all new accountability at the va and now our veterans have choice and opportunity to choose access to the world-class health care that they earned in the uniform of the united states like never before. .. ..
12:01 pm
i couldn't be more proud of all the hoosiers he talked about from dan coats to seema verma to doctor jerome adams, surgeon general of united states of america, indiana is doing its part. and the truth of the matter is this date has been testing has been doing its part. i didn't say much about them when it came out because i just want to say it. i couldn't be more proud of the job that governor eric holcomb and first lady janet holcombe are doing leading this state above and beyond. would you join me in thanking this great governor for the job that he is doing for the people of the state? [applause]
12:02 pm
i also mentioned are senator todd joan. thank you for your strong leadership. thank you for your principles, commitment and conservatism in the united states senate and also your partners in the house of representatives. you saw them onstage earlier but i want to thank congressman jim banks and congresswoman susan brooks for doing a principal job standing with this president and fighting for hoosiers. we couldn't be more grateful. and i'm looking forward to serving with two new members of congress from the great state of indiana. gm will serve this country in uniform with distinction. he seen combat and jim is going to make an outstanding member of the indiana delegation to congress and jim, we're going to be proud to serve with you. [applause]
12:03 pm
and wildlife to tease each other just like brothers do, i do want to say i couldn't be more proud. i couldn't be more proud. that great pants stepped up to represent the sixth congressional district of indiana. he will be the best pence elected to the state of indiana. [applause] and the great statewide leaders your company been mentioned before, kerry, mitchell, connie, these are great people that are cutting this day with great distinction with this government and we're grateful for your
12:04 pm
leadership. and i do want to take some time before i i let you get to your debtor to talk about the race dedicated to talk about most and that is just like indiana did in 2016, we've got to do our part in 2018. we've got to reelect republican majorities in the house of representatives and we've got to expand the republican majority in the united states senate by electing mike braun as the next senator from the great state of indiana. [applause] now, i know mike. i worked with them back in the general assembly but i got to know him and his wonderful family when i was serving as your governor. mike is a born and bred hoosier, married his high school sweetheart, went to college here, turned down a big shot job on wall street to build a small business in southern indiana.
12:05 pm
he chants from that small business into a big business, created hundreds of jobs in his hometown. along the way mike took care of his employees, treated unfairly. mike braun actually gave health insurance that covered pre-existing conditions to his employees before washington d.c. ever started talking about it. and, in fact, after the tax cuts were signed into law the end of last year, mike's company expanded health care benefits to their employees and actually did a midyear tax bonus to his employees, putting the people who work for him first. [applause] mike is going to bring that practical experience and that principled conservatism, principled conservative agenda into the well of the united states senate. and we need him. because everything i just described, a commitment to the
12:06 pm
agenda that hoosiers voted for in 2016 goes all the way to his bone marrow. the same can't be said for indiana's other senator, joe donnelly. i mean, if you doubt, if you doubt the fact that joe donnelly is out of step with hoosiers, you just need to look at his voting record. and remember indian voted overwhelmingly to send president trump and i to the white house in 2016. when the time came to cut your taxes, joe voted no. when the time came to repeal and replace obamacare, joe voted no. i mean, when the time came to confirm justice brett kavanaugh, joe joined into that chorus in the senate and voted no. in fact, even though joe says he he's pro-life, when it came time -- when the time came to give indiana the flexibility to defund planned parenthood, joe
12:07 pm
voted no. the truth is a vote for joe donnelly is about to make chuck schumer the leader of the united states senate quite possibly. and really a vote for joe donnelly is a vote to turn the united states senate into the center of resistance in washington, d.c. i have a message for my fellow hoosiers. on behalf of myself, the president and conservatives everywhere, it's time to vote no on joe donnelly. it's time to send mike braun to the united states senate from the great state of indiana. [applause] and the choice in this election couldn't be more clear. the choice in this election couldn't be more clear. the candidate will use senate is committed to the agenda that president trump and i are fighting for every single day. real results for hoosiers and every american.
12:08 pm
or someone who is part of the resistance, , unprecedented obstruction in the united states. choice between prosperity and progress in the failed policies of the past. it's a choice between moving america forward and taking our country back. i mean think about it. joe donnelly party wants open borders, abolished eyes, government run healthcare, socialized medicine. in fact, his party wants to repeal the tax cuts that are creating jobs and opportunity all across the state of indiana. i mean of the truth is democrats take charge on capitol hill, their entire agenda is to undo all the progress that we have made in the last two years, but we are not going to let him. where going to reelect and expand the republican majorities and we will send mike braun to washington, d.c. am i right? [applause]
12:09 pm
now, make no mistake about it we've got 25 days left and we have a lot of work to do. but the truth is these first midterm election for the party that's in the white house are challenging. history teaches that. it's actually been proved for every midterm election for the party in the white house when we were in the white house every midterm election for the last hundred years except for two, okay? conventional wisdom says this is going to be a tough year but i think we all know what president trump thinks of conventional wisdom. we made history in 2016 and we are going to make history again in 2018. when we elect mike braun to the united states senate. when we reelect republican majorities and elect republicans all across america. [applause] but is going to take all of us to do it so as you get ready for dinner and the balance of
12:10 pm
wonderful evening of what to encourage you to do three things. number one, the side right now my fellow hoosiers that you're going to vote indiana on november 6 for the entire republican team. okay? remembered elections are won by those who show up, early voting started last wednesday. governor, i think i check that out. it runs through november 5. if you do an absentee ballot just a mill in by october 29. do your part and get it done early so you can work the polls and be knocking on doors in between now and then and remember my fellow republicans, friends don't let friends vote alone. go find a a friend. go find a family member. go find a coworker and make sure that they are registered and make sure that they vote. for the whole republican ticket. secondly, i hope you leave here tonight if you just tell someone about what you heard. tell somebody about the incredible progress that
12:11 pm
governor holcomb talked about from this podium. progress that india has made, how important it is for us to reelect these great majorities at the indiana general assembly and is great state what leaders. tell him you ran into mike at the other day. mike and karen were in town. it took in my 25 minutes just to get to the top lines of what we've been able to accomplish with trump and white house and the strong republican leadership in the house and senate. i mean, the letter and tell them what they're not a most other major cable news networks every day. right? i mean, tell them we cut their taxes so they can keep more of what they earn, all right? [applause] tell them this economy is growing like it hasn't in a really long time. tell them that america stands tall again. supporting our armed forces again in leading on the world stage again. as leaders of the free world without apology.
12:12 pm
i i mean, in a word, tell them, tell them that the forgotten men and women of indiana are forgotten no more because it's the truth, indiana. you go tell them. [applause] i really believe, i really believe that what happens on the airways, what happens in newsprint, what happens online doesn't compared when someone who knows you and respect you hears from you about a candidate or an issue or cause that is important today. so reach out ask you leave your tonight over the course of this weekend to your neighbors, tell them just how important it is. tell them how important it is for us to do our part not just for indiana but for the country this year in this election. and lastly let me close by simply saying after the purpose you're going to vote, with a friend, you are going to go tell somebody the story of the
12:13 pm
republican leadership in indiana and the last thing i want to encourage you to do is if you're of the mind, to bow the head and bend the knee and pray for this country. i encourage you to do it. [applause] i encourage you to do it. you know, the sweetest words we have here as we travel all across this country, and we hear them a lot when people say i'm praying for you. but on this one in these two divided times in these united states of america i'm not even asking so much that you pray for our candidates or for our party or for cause. i just think it's a good time just to pray for america. pray for all the people of america in this one nation, under god, indivisible, with liberty and justice for all.
12:14 pm
[applause] because prayer matters. with that said i know you're waiting for dinner song going to get out of your hair. karen and are so touched to be home. thank you for this wonderful outpouring today. we will be on the campaign trail in indian this weekend but buti leave here tonight more confident than ever. more confident than ever that just like in 2016, just like in years past indian is going to do its part. we're going to reelect these great state theaters. to our statehouse and a statewide offices. we're going to relate these great members of congress and we will send a few new ones there with them. to represent indiana with distinction. i really keeping a that with your support, with renewed republican leadership in the statehouse and in the congress, with mike braun in the united states senate, with president trump in the white house and
12:15 pm
12:17 pm
>> all right. talk about a lot important stuff this morning, a lot of heady stuff for now we'll talk about something completely noncontroversial, the nfl. [laughing] for just another quiet day at the office. >> exactly. the way i would start this is before we had a sports panel of the talk football, it would be fun mostly lighthearted. is it still joint in amen
