The original version of this specification was prepared for inclusion in the Request for Proposal (RFP) to contractors for the acquisition of the Joint Tactical Information Distribution System (JTIDS) Test Device (JTD). It set forth the minimum set of requirements for the JTD and also contained a large number of "design goals" which were capabilities desired by the government and to be proposed at the contractor's option. This Revision 1 incorporates, as full requirements, those "design goals" which have been placed on contract by the JTIDS Program Office.
