assistant Miki forwarded your e-mail to me for further clarification
and approvals. Thanks for inquiring about Dan.

Yes Dan has an open trading policy for audio and video, with the one
caveat that no tapers can block anybody's view at a live show. That
is an important part of his policy and comes specifically from Dan.

As for the Archive, we are cool with you going ahead with it. We
won't be uploading anything, nor will Dan, but fans are free to do so
and they do quite a bit of trading, whether it's torrents, lossless
files on various sites, or Dan's free MP3 archive (called the Dan
Bern Digital Archive, available here: ftp://24.93.111.56).

Of course all of the traded music is live stuff only, no commercial
stuff, like you said. And nobody has permission to sell in any way.

So please feel free to go ahead under the above conditions. As for
the lossy companion files, sure that sounds good. Most of the fans
will prefer the MP3s, though some of them will want the lossless.
