On March 18, 1990 the first and also the last and final free general legislative elections of the socialist German Democratic Republic (GDR) took place just before re-unification of both parts of Gemany in 1990. Both parts of Germany were separated by a deathly boarder zone for about 40 years.
A documentary essay and filmic meditation on Germany's past and the then current happenings of this particular election day. Also a jaunt from Westberlin of two film makers to new and suddenly vast and open territoriy in a strange society during a short period of rapid change.
