got a great veteran story to ll got a great veteran story to tell us? go to facebook.com/the kelly file and follow me on twitter @megyn kelly. thanks for watching. i'm megyn kelly. this is "the kelly file." god bless our vets. welcome to "hannity." tonight we have a jam-packed show. it's the return of dick morris tonight. also sarah palin here in studio. plus joe namath and lou holtz on the nfl bullying controversy. first president obama proved time and again during the course of his the time in office he knows how to apologize for america. he doesn't know how to apologize for his mistakes. when presented with the opportunity to own up to his own lies about obama care -- if you like your plan, you can keep your plan. if you like your doctor, you can keep your doctor. this is what he said. >> do you feel you owe folks an apology for misleading them?
even if you didn't intentionally do it. they feel misled and you have seen the anger out there. >> yeah. i regret very much that what we intended to do which is to make sure that everybody is moving into better plans because they want them as opposed to because they are forced into it, that we weren't as clear as we needed to be in terms of the changes that were taking place. even though it's a small percentage of folks who may be disadvantaged, it meanses a lot to them. it's scary to them. i am sorry that they are finding themselves in this situation based on assurances they got from me. >> it is not a small percentage. they knew in july of 2010 millions and millions of americans would lose their plan and their doctor. they didn't tell you the truth. a simple "yes, i'm sorry" is not that hard. here is the evidence to prove president obama should man up
and own up to what he said. this is what he told you. >> if you like your health care plan, you will be able to keep your health care plan. period. >> period. once that proved to be 100% not true then president obama tweaked his stance and said this -- >> if you have or had one of these plans before the affordable care act came into law and you really like that plan, what we said was you could keep it. if it hasn't changed since the law is passed. >> there were no ifs, ands, buts or caveats. nice try. the american people are smart enough to see through these liberal spins and lies. 4 unfortunately there is more. president obama in trying to defend the indefensible stepped in it some more and said this. >> we are talking about 5% of the population who are in what's called the individual market. they are out there buying health insurance on their own. though it only affects a small
am of the pop lags population, it mean as lot to them when they get the this letter cancelled. >> i'm not sure where the administration dug that number up from which, by the way, is being regurgitated by friends in the liberal media. on this program we had a reputable duke university research scholar on "hannity" in our doctor summit show. he told the truth and said this. >> i calculated the people that are not going to be able to stay in their plans both in the individual market -- which everyone is talking about -- but also in the employer market. many people will lose their plans. i estimate 18 million to 50 million will lose their plans and have to start from scratch. >> by what point will 129 million americans lose their health insurance they like? if you like it, you can keep it. >> i'm estimating by the end of 2014. >> a year from now we'll be close to 129 million americans losing their health care. >> keep in mind, 18 to 50 million totally lose their plan and have to buy a new plan. the rest are paying more for
whatever coverage they had in order to add on the bell and whistles that obama care required. >> if you like your plan, you can't keep your plan and you will pay more for the new plan they think is better bauds they know best for you. will the president be held accountable for series of lies? joining me, former clinton add viedser, host of 1210 a.m. in philly. dick morris is back. how are you? you have been in exile. >> good to see you, sean. >> i know you took a lot of heat because of your prediction in the last election. before we get into your analysis here, what is your answer to people who said, oh, dick morris is so wrong. he angered people. it's been a while since we had you on. >> i was wrong. so was gallup, rasmussen, cnn, about half to two-thirds of the pollsters in the country.
the reason they were wrong and when i looked at the number i was wrong is we didn't take account of the period around sandy before the election when a quarter of america didn't have the telephones. you couldn't poll them. there were no polling data in that period. the exit polls on election day showed that about one of six americans made their mind up at the end and they voted for obama by over 2 to 1. >> when you worked for bill clinton and they tried to push out hillarycare, their numbers cratered. you were brought in to do polling at that point. the poll numbers stayed high even when the president lied during lewinsky. do you see analogies for this president? now we know it's provable he lied and planned on it and covered it up for three years? >> well, the reason clinton's numbers stayed high is he moved to the center. he was articulating policies most americans supported. obama has chosen to move way to
the left. you can't compare clinton's lie about a personal matter with obama's lie about insurance. i realize this is a grammatical quibble. he said you can keep your health insurance, period. if he said "question mark", hey, that's fine. >> let me play waserman schultz claiming this will help democrats. >> it's a transition thing, not a cancellation. >> i've got you. >> if you look at it through the prism of 2014 you don't think obama care will weigh heavily on democratic elections? >> i think obama care, because americans have been feeling the benefits since 2010 where young adults can stay on their insurance until they're 26. where on january 1 if you have a pre-existing condition like i do as a breast cancer survivor, the peace of mind those americans will have knowing they can't be
dropped or denied coverage for that pre-existing condition. the preventative care available without a copay or deductible are things americans have been feeling and will feel as obama care is fully implemented. i think, candy, democratic candidates will be able to run on obama care as an advantage. >> if millions of americans get cancellation letters -- and they are -- and millions of americans see the rate hike shock what is the impact going to be in 2014? is it what debbie wasserman shultz says? >> it will be a wipe out. the republicans will gain enormously. look, obama has this problem. i don't believe the democratic party can permit him to bring them into the next election in '14 with 50 million people losing their coverage and another 80 million seeing premiums jacked way up.
i don't think they can do it. if obama rescinds cancellations which he could do by executive order because the statute doesn't require them, his regulations do, nobody will sign up for this turkey. he'll be embarrassed by the low turnout. did you see reuters reports that the 12 state exchanges have had a total of 50,000 sign-ups? if experience is a guide, 40 of them are probably medicaid. if you have a quarter of the country with 10,000 sign-ups, you're talking about 40,000 in the whole country after a month and a half of this turkey being out there. the only way he can generate enrollment is to throw people off their health insurance so they have no alternative but to come into the exchanges. >> welcome back. it's been a while. appreciate you being with us. welcome to the world of talk radio. >> i love it. >> everyone says it's an easy job. is it? >> it's wonderful. i have three hours to opine. >> for people who like to talk like us. it's the perfect job. thanks for joining us.

welcome back t rare appearance, glad to have her. author of "good tidings, great joy, protecting the heart of christmas" former alaska governor sarah palin. isn't it amazing the attack, the assault? it's unbridled and seemingly unprecedented against christmas. >> it's unquestionable that there is an attack on christmas
which is the tip of the spear when it comes to an even greater battle brewing. that's an attack on our freedom of religion where we can exercise our faith, whatever it may be. there are double standards applied to those who wish to celebrate christmas, for instance, in a traditional way. those who i will refer to as scrooges. they are usually angry athiests armed with an attorney. they want to tell patriots that no longer can you acknowledge that jesus is the reason for the season. >> even the public lands, all the debates putting a christmas tree up or some remembrance of what christmas is or a cross on public property or menorah during hanukka. >> the ten commandments erected anywhere. it certainly is a double standard. the book is about empowering americans to know what to do to
stand up for our constitutionally protected rights to exercise our faith. within the book are some really jolly, christmas-y ways to do that and incorporating traditions and cool alaska recipes and other family-oriented things that make for good reading. >> sounds like you love christmas. there are pictures of christmas pasts in the palin life. >> certainly. >> when you were a kid did you know your gifts beforehand? >> i used to guess what the gifts would be. quite often it was a pair of wool socks, not the walkman. >> i sneaked, peeked, scrounged around the house. i knew ahead of time. >> we talk about obama care and the website. that's incompetence. when a president says -- we were debating with austin goolsby. when the president says if you like your plan, you can keep your plan, period -- >> lie. >> lie.
>> yeah, lie. you know, our politicians are to be held accountable. and heaven forbid americans be intimidated and think that we have to just kind of cower back and not hold a president accountable. he did lie through this obama care, selling the sham -- sham wow type commercialization. >> the difference is sham wow works. >> that's true. there were lies, deception involved in all of this. and now the mainstream media, lame stream, thinks that they're going to get away with trying to convince the public that just fixing a malfunctioning website is the answer? that's a small fix to the problem. a problem is the stifling, shackling, growing government that obama care is a symptom of. that is the problem. it's a statist mind set of our president and the radical left that follows him.
and we need to do something about it. the thing that we do about it is hold our politicians accountable. look at these democrats who are running in red states scurrying for cover. they voted for obama care. they have ads running in their own state like rob bagich has on one hand. and then he says i'm chewing out the president every chance i get. calling him on the carpet about obama care. no you're not. you're a typical politician calling out of both sides of your mouth with this. >> they knew that people would be canceled. they knew nit 2010. you're not going to run against bagich, are you? >> that isn't on my radar screen but i'm going to call him out and other democrats have so diminished the trust we should be able to have in our government that we founded upon
this idea of it being a government of the people by the people for the people. instead, we have these elites in washington, d.c. trying to tell us how to run our lives. and manage our health care and spend our income, run our businesses. that's un-american. >> the book is great.
