good morning and thanks for joining us... i'm lukas voss. we begin this morning with the sioux city teen charged with attempted murder for shooting a police officer. isaiah mothershed made his first appearance in court yesterday... via a video feed from the woodbury county jail. the 18-year-old was read his chars... which include two counts of attempted murder and five counts of first degree robbery. each carrying a maximum 25 year prison sentence. mothershed was arrested sunday morning after a lenghty investigation into a string of robberies. authorities believe he's connected to several crimes, including a home invasion where a special needs child was tied up and beaten while others were held at gunpoint. judge todd hensley says, "i would advise you now that you are not required to make a statement and any statement you do make can be used against you at trial. sir do you have any questions for the court at this time about your charges or your bond? mothershed says, "i do not." mothershed was ordered to be

bond. he's due back in court next friday. we'll have more on his court appearance... coming up later on in the show. the semi accident yesterday on highway twenty was likely caused by icey conditions. thetruck lost control in the westbound lane and jack-knifed. the driver only sustained minor injuries. lukas: the last of four iowa utility board meetgs over the proposed dakota access pipeline is in the books. ssions began monday to review a building permit request for the pipeline. if built it will cut diagonally across the state of iowa, originating from the north dakota bakken oil fields. there is still no word if the board has made its decission on the permit request. lukas: the iowa senate has voted on the future of the governor's managed care plan. iowans on medicaid have been faced with the decision of "what managed care company to pick" under the governor's plan to switch to private, managed- care companies.

"93% of the increase in the house republicans budget is devoted to funding for k-12 education. that means an additional 143 million dollars have been targeted to k-12 schoools in our budget plan." the house budget subcommittees will now begin thr work to build each individual party's budget plan. lukas u-s lawmakers in washington are moving forward with plans to eliminate a possible tax on internet access. the senate passed the bill 75-to-20... barring state and local governments from taxing consumers for accessing the internet. the bill already passed the house. it will now go to president barack obama's de who's expected to sign it into law. lukas: when nebraska vovors head to the polls in november they may decide if casinos can move into the state. three pro- gambling petitions are making their

spearheading the push for casinos is called "keep the money in nebraska." they say creating those casinos will help bring more tax revenue to the state. however, not everyone agrees.. "i would like for it to be closed because thers a lot of speeding," said colleen fawcett. worried neighbors got the chance to talk about their concerns with city leaders at a meeting thursday night. some hope the city will close it off for good. others think more warning signs for drivers uld make the street safer. "i have an open mind where like you know what i said earlier, i'd like to see the yellow lights...the cautns signs and everything," said juron. even with varying opinions about the best solution... people who took the time to share their ideas... just want something done. "yes, that's way too many! we have too many shades of colors that are too close to each other, that people who are color blind are having many issues with it. even mylf, who is nototolor blind, i look at that map and i can'tell if it's the same shade of red or not....but when you're talking about that many different colors, there's that many different types of hazards out there. so they we have to take a look at really, do we need to issue all those watches, warnings, and advisories for each
