the one person killed in the crash died at the scene. investigators have not released the conditions of anyone else involved. the crash closed the first street bridge for several hours. we're working to get more information on a late-night police chase in jones county. the sheriff's office says the chase ended at 3rd and maple streets in monticello. one person went to the hospital. a viewer sent us this picture. it appears at least one car was damaged. it's not clear if it was t enforcement vehicle. we reached out to the jones county sheriff's office and monticello police overnight for comment, but they declined. a fundraiser today will help an elderly eastern iowa couple get to the hospital for medical treatment. we first told you about this fire that destroyed jerry and peggy james' only vehicle last week. the family didn't have insurance on the minivan. peggy is on dialysis. but both have significant health issues and need almost daily transportatio n to doctor's appointments.

grandchildren on social security. today's fundraiser is at the atkins pavilion from 11:00 in the morning until 4:00 in the afternoon. organizers say one goal is to raise enough money for a used van with a wheel chair lift for the family. only three days before election day, the presidential nominees are spending their time in important swing states. democrat hillary clinton heads to florida this morning. other members of her campaign are scheduled to speak across the country. that includes a stop at iowa presidential candidate bernie sanders. donald trump has a busy day with campaign stops in three different time zones. he's in florida, north carolina, nevada and colorado. the republican nominee comes back to iowa tomorrow, where a new poll shows trump with a 3 point lead. kcrg-tv9's samantha myers tells us why some iowans think he's the best person for the job. as a small business owner in kalona, janene king says donald trump's

iowa will head to the polls in what could be a historic election day. in linn county, the auditors office is open today for anyone wanting to vote early. the office is open from 8:00 this morning until 5:00 tonight. it's located inside the linn county public services center on 2nd street southwest. voters can turn in absentee ballots through monday. we spoke with secretary of state paul pate about early voting. he says iowa gives voters every opportunity to cast a ballot before election day. "frankly, what we're voting and if you've got 40 percent now and it's still growing. at some point it will probably be over 50. in several of our counties in iowa, we have over 60 percent of people voting that way. " in the race for president, a new poll shows republican donald trump leading democrat hillary clinton in iowa. the simpson college poll found 44 percent support trump while 41 percent are for hillary. kcrg-tv9's forrest saunders

clinton is the right fit for the white house. if you would have asked lance wilson who he was voting for before the iowa caucus, he wouldn't have said clinton--"berni e was the first candidate who spoke... right to my heart. everything he had to say i agreed with. i've never experienced wilson had a problem with clinton's connections to super pacs and major corporations. but, he begrudgingly changed from feeling the bern to climbing the hill. her push to curtail climate change and work with sanders to create a progressive platform had wilson satisfied. one more thing, too-- "how unfit i believe donald trump to be as president of the united states. he's too unstable."ther e are many others who feel similar. pew

"it was going to be hillary for me in 2008." cindy garlock has been on the clinton team since the candidate's first run for president. she now volunteers about 30 hours a week with the campaign. the former teacher likes clinton's views on education, her stance on social issues, and woman's rights. "hillary will be an advocate for me. she's proven it. she's always advocated for women and children and the people who need to be advocated for."garlock is part of clinton's large female base. check this out. the researchers at 538 show clinton nearly sweeping the electoral college, if men didn't vote. same would be true for trump, if women didn't. speaking of trump... "i've been watching hillary the last few days, she's totally unhinged." the republican has been blasting clinton over the fbi's renewed interest into her emails. the most recent mcclatchy marist poll found 51% of likely voters think clinton did something illegal. the group attributed the re interest in the emails to her slip in the polls-- now 46% to trump's 44%. even so, neither garlock or wilson thought much of the emails. they were just

thing on election day and elect hillary as president. the urbandale man accused of killing two des moines area police officers likely won't get out of jail before his trial. a judge set a 10 million dollar cash-only bond for scott greene. greene appeared in a polk county courtroom friday morning. the judge scheduled his next hearing for two weeks from now. greene's daughter attended the court proceedings. she said her father had been upset because of a recent breakup. and also the death of his father from cancer. police say greene killed urbandale officer justin anthony beminio early wednesday morning. they say he shot them in separate ambushes while they sat in their patrol cars. yesterday, people lined the streets in des moines in honor of sergeant beminio for his processional. squad cars guided a hearse carrying his body from the state medical examiner's office in ankeny. beminio's funeral will be on monday morning at 11:00 in west des moines. martin's funeral will be 11:40 on tuesday in his hometown of rockwell city. we'll air both of those

this morning a cedar rapids company is helping people honor the fallen officers. reece's painting is putting blue tape lines on the back of cars. they're at the godfathers pizza on 16th avenue southwest right now. if you would like to show your support, the 'back to blue' event runs through 11:00 this morning. students responded friday night to the sudden deaths of two classmates in the linn-mar community school district. thursday afternoon, a three vehicle crash on county home road near north troy road killed and her sister, isabella severson, who was 13. the linn county sheriff's office says the girls were riding in a car with their mother and two other sisters when a pick-up rear-ended them. the impact pushed their car into another pick- up in front of them. the crash also injured the mother, jennifer perez, and the other two girls, ages four and 14. students held a vigil at linn-mar high school last night. they prayed, wore purple, sang in their honor, and
