rear-ended a mini- van. it also says he also tried to jump off the 1st street bridge after the crash. a passenger in that minivan suffered serious injuries. the crash remains under investigation. we also have an update on a crash out of delaware county. the state patrol released the name of the man killed after crashing into a tractor. it happened near 200th avenue and 165th street on friday morning. investigators say 72-year- old eric smith of manchester died after side-swiping the trac direction. and out of jones county, monticello police arrested three people after a chase late on friday night. we first told you about this yesterday morning. around 10:40 that night, an officer tried to stop a stolen vehicle from missouri. the driver fled, leading jones county and cascade authorities on a chase. at one point the vehicle rammed into two law enforcement vehicles. authorities were able to use a pit maneuver to stop the chase near north maple

the driver .. police are pursuing to lose control and eventually stop. law enforcement arrested kevin glassmeyer, dechone jackson and megan dains. police also found guns in the vehicle. today people in the des moines area will remember a police sergeant killed in an ambush-style attack. a visitation service for 38-year-old anthony beminio starts at 2 this afternoon at lutheran church of hope in west des moines. his funeral is tomorrow morning. he and urbandale poic for officer martin start tomorrow with his visitation. his funeral is on tuesday. we will air both of those funerals on kcrg 9.2 it was early last wednesday morning when both men were shot and killed while sitting in their squad cars. police say 46-year-old scott greene fired at least 15 shots at both officers. police say they had run- ins with greene in the past, which led them to identify him as the suspect in

police about 8 hours after the shootings. on friday, a judge set his bond at 10 million dollars, cash only. he faces two counts of first-degree murder. a cedar rapids painting company honored the fallen officers yesterday. jay reece of reece painting parked outside of godfather's pizza and put a thin stripe of blue painters tape on cars for no cost. that blue line with a black background is often used to remember fallen he hopes his effort will help. "cedar rapids we're all about community. it's about the public supporting the police. they do a lot of things when they're off duty that nobody sees. so, this is our way whether they're going to work or shopping maybe they'll see that we have their back." reece said it will hold another blue line event if people are interested. if not, he will pass the tape off to someone else who wants to support.

two fallen officers. the stephen siller tunnel to towers foundation is donating funds to both families. it will also pay off the mortgage on beminio's home. tunnel to towers was started in memory of siller. he was a brooklyn firefighter who died on 9-11. a buchanan county couple has a new way to get to their doctors appointments thanks to their family and friends. peggy and jerry james lost their van in this fire back on october 17th. both need to get to the on a daily basis. kcrg-tv9's phil reed went to their fundraiser where they got a big surprise. jerry james was shocked to see a replacement van waiting for him at pavillion park. "oh my gracious. it brought tears to my eyes. it was a godsend. it's overwhelming." the black grand caravan is wheelchair accessible, and has enough room for the jerry and

their grandchildre n. "so that we can get me to medical appointments, jerry to medical appointments. and all the kids have appointments. they've been placed in our custody by dhs, and right now they're all getting therapy at various times. so every week, just about everyday we have some place to go" that means a lot of driving across eastern iowa. and they don't know how long the newly donated caravan will last with over 270 thousand miles so friends and families decided to lend a helping hand. "i know they're kind of tired of relying on everybody to change their schedules, so i thought a luncheon, and a bake sale and a silent auction would help them" but until that happens, the james family is happy to ride home with a set of wheels "to us it's a treasure that god sent and gave, and we're so grateful " between saturday's event, and the go fund me page that's set up, the family

"people can sign up on their phones or computers and they get text messaging so it will remind them and say hey there's an election a school board election or presidential election would you like an absentee ballot? nats back at the polls, macinnis says her daughter loved seeing how the process works. iowa city, samantha myers kcrg-tv9 news. in these final days, a new poll shows rod blum has an edge over monica vernon in the race for iowa's first district. a loras college poll found the republican incumbent had 47 percent support of likely voters. vernon is six points behind at 41 percent. the democrat has gained one point compared to a six-term senator chuck grassley keeps increasing his lead in recent polling. a des moines register poll has grassley up by more than 20 points over challenger and former lieutenant governor patty judge. that's up from a 17 point lead in a poll just last month. stay with t-v nine on election night. follow us on social media for updates all day-- and and share your voting experience with the hashtag i-a votes. when the polls close at nine-- join us for facebook

at 10. we'll have live reports of key races across the state. in north dakota, protesters aren't stopping their fight against the dakota access pipeline. the protesters are gaining support from across the country. in green bay wisconsin, people marched, chanted and held up signs against the pipeline yesterday. they say they're concerned about the environmental impact a potential oil spill it could have on the environment. "they can reroute this they definitely can reroute it away from the water and that's the main issue. " the dakota access pipeline will eventually carry crude oil from north dakota to illinois. it will run through 18 counties in iowa. today, people can get a glimpse of the brand new university of iowa stead family children's hospital in iowa city. thousands of people toured the state of the art facility for an open house yesterday. many of the rooms are painted in bright vibrant colors to make kids more comfortable. the facility also features the

after friday's performance with jay-z and beyonce -- katy perry was singing her song at this concert in philadelphia. hoping to ending the campaign -- on a high note. jonathan betz, abc news, new york. in south carolina, police say a man accused of chaining up a woman for two months is actually a serial killer. investigators foun chained inside a metal container on thursday. she and her boyfriend, david carver, had been missing since august. on friday, police found carver's body on the same farm where they found brown. police believe 45-year-old todd kohlhepp kidnapped them and shot carver. investigators also believe kohlepp may be responsible for several other murders in the area. "i smile sometimes to keep from crying because this is this is horrible. this is a son,

uncle, cousin, it's terrible. " kohlepp is in jail on a kidnapping charge right now. he's expected to be formally charged with at least one count of murder. new jersey police say someone stabbed at least 7 people. police in newark found three people including two children dead in newark yesterday. three others were inured. police say they ha case, but have not made any arrests. investigators are offering a 20 thousand dollar reward for information leading to an arrest. iraq's special forces say isis bombings and elaborate defense systems are delaying their effort to take back mosul. the military says the amount of civilians still in the city are making it difficult to call in air- strikes from the united states. as of this morning, special forces have only made it about a mile into the isis stronghold. meanwhile, thousands of refugees

"the scenes here are both heartbreaking and joyous. just imagine if it were you. on the inside of the camp you have families from previously isis held territory - on the outside you've got their families and loved ones who haven't seen them in two years. the problem is this - security. those on the inside need to be screened and processed. there could be isis among them and that process is yet to be completed.""th is is my brother," ikram ahmed says - it's been w or even talked to him." ikram's story is repeated throughout the camp, and along the road leading to it.lines of cars and trucks headed towards the gates and safety. wahd saad tells us he walked 20 km here with his family. "at last, security," he says. at the fence his brother in law ahmed. again, two years since this young family has been together."i'm overjoyed," he says. "but it's frustrating to not be able to come in." "this is khazer camp - it's a un run camp originally built with 1000 tents, and meant for for 8000 people. 4000 arrived here in a single 24-hour period. this camp is now full. they're extending it but for now they're having to send families to other camps." aid organizations expected these people to come and have prepared as much as possible - the problem is not knowing what's yet to come the fear ... that this is just the beginning of
