couple said yanz drove and stopped in front of these destroyed homes. police officers got out and stood by inside of the cars, there were residents, presumably homeowners or residents of the homes in particular not allowed to get out of their cars and stayed for just a moment. they drove away, i can see the look of horror and disbelief on their faces. this same process this afternoon with three bus loads of residents. the city taking them on a tour for what would be the first up close and in person look at homes or what remains of them. those would be 49 homes that are red tagged meaning that the homes are not being save to center at all, much less occupy if there is anything left of them at all. and so this city is taking residents on a tour, not letting them get out of the buses.

until the site is deemed safe and until national transportation safety board has everything it needs for the investigation. four days later and people who were -- saying... >> everything just started shaking. >> sill was just sitting down to winner with his wife and children when the pipeline exploded. >> all of a sudden everything started to vibrate. i thought it was an earthquake. i said come on we're going to try to get to the door joom. it kept getting worse and worse. i felt heat coming through so i said let's go to the garage. >> from there, he saw fire raining down into his backyard. >> at this point my wife hits the garage door and people are running down the street. we can see flames from that way. on both sides. i'm not sure what is coming from where. i just yemed get the kids in the car, get in the car. >> the family made it out. the house has minor damage. it's green tagged meaning he can come back when he wants.

but is he in no rush. >> if people say it's all clean, go back inside. i don't know if we want to live here he doesn't want his kids to live in a field of chimneys. bob pelagrini's house is gone. today he and other residents went to' closed meeting to find out about getting back in. and he'll only ab tloud look at his property from inside of a bus. >> i can understand it. i don't like it bill's wife is eight months pregnant. for now they're in a hot yes. he says he's grateful for meetings but needs more. >> we don't want to be at meegts and don't want group hugs anymore. we want something substantial. we need a house. >> the bus tour we showed you video of the buses touring this area at the top there. and some of those buses passed

by us here on claremont leaving the area, we can see people inside were crying and some were taking pictures of the area. this is just heart breaking to get in here whatever they've seen may be on tv. saying this is... >> sorry about that. heather is having twrubl her signal reporting live from the fire zone. you can imagine how frustrating it is to see from the bus but not being able to see for themselves. and frustration is mounting from people in the neighborhood. many claimed they smelled gas and saw pg&e crews in the area days before this deadly blast. and investigators crated up a section of the pipe and put it on a flat bed truck for a trip to washington, d.c.. investigators will look for flaws or clues into why this blew up suddenly. we're live near the blast site tonight.

cecilia? >> pg&e said the pipe was more than 50 years old and had been inspected twice within the past year. with you the president of pg&e said there is no amount of money that can cover the loss of now. there is a loss behind me. you can see how devastating and how wide spread that schl the company is going start by handing out a big check and gave kblinl to the city that, is part of a $100 million donation for the city and residents. the company is emphasizing there will be no strings attached. >> we have to take pg&e and send them over, and oo residents toured their homes for the first time, anger against pg&e is mounting. many say they smell aid gas lining odor in days before the blast. >> and i didn't think of it until someone mentioned the gas smell but it was a smell at that point where the houses ignited. >> pg&e maintains there are no

reports of any gas leak reports from residents. >> and we've not found anything in our records indicating people called for that area. >> he didn't call because he said he felt like he didn't need to. he saw a worker using a wand to check for a leak two days where the last. >> i saw a guy from pg&e. i got up that morning he was checking somethinging on the floor with something. >> pg&e says there is no record of crews in the area. >> and all we're saying is that we zront a record of that. >> the officials say they'll hand all call logs over to ntsb for a review. what caused this pipe to explode and shoot into the air? pg&e isn't saying. officials sate was inspected march.

>> when looking at it we did not anticipate issue was it at this point. >> the company announce aid $100 million donation to the city of san bruno and residents, residents say none of this was their fault. >> these were neighbors. the woman down the block is dead. it's not fair. >> and residents who lost their homes like that gentleman and his family will be soon receiving checks from pg&e depending on how much damage they've suffered between 15,000s skpdz $50,000. pg&e emphasized residents will not be asked to sign waivers in order to collect this money. >> and there is a look at video recorded just seconds after the blast. gas station surveillance shows a man stopped to fill up his tank when a huge fireball, you can see it there on the left rises up across the street.

suddenly thursday evening. she was student body president at catholic grammar school in the sunset district. she wrote for the school newspaper. today, classmates and administrators gathered to remember her and her mother. >> it's a time to remember her gifts and talents. to remember her mother who was a beautiful person. and we know they're in god's loving embrace. yet, our hearts are broken. >> and 20-year-old jessica morales died friday morning. her boyfriend is in critical condition, badly burned trying to rescue her. the fire also claimed the life of an 81-year-old elizabeth torres and injured three members of her family. >> san bruno officials say two of the six people previously missing reported missing in the san bruno explosion have been located, leaving four people unaccounted for

including four members of one family. relatives worry the three died in the fire. officials have not identified fourth missing person. >> and there is many fire victims in shock, they're trying to keep it together. >> yes. and the long process to rebuild is difficult as you can imagine. mig yil finney with a look at what those people can expect. >> this is exactly why we have homeowners insurance. and dealing with the loss isn't like one of those tv commercials you can see. there is a lot to watch out for. first, fire victims must deal with emotional loss. then, with the realities of rebuilding. things are bad, but for many homeowner there's is a glimmer of hope. >> one of the few bright spots is that they're not alone. and... that the spotlight is shining on this situation for a month. >> consumer activist says that

is putting everyone, including politicians on their best behaviors. still with, this kind of cash, it's best to remember this is business not friendship. >> insurance is big business fchl you think your company is just going to come along and write you a giant check for every dime you're entitled too, you're naive. for those who suffered no or small damage to homes, but were forced to evacuate, there could be money coming to them, too. insurance information network says insurance company by law must reimburse clients if there is a forced evacuation. of course, deductibles must be met. and there is links and you can go to abc 7 news.com and click on 7 on your side. problem is for folk that's there is so much information coming at them. best thing to do don't sign your rights away. >> and you're distraught oo.

continuing budge yut cuts to education. the newest statewide test scores showed students made gains for eight years in a row. and. >> just feel very proud of yourself. very proud. because you did it. >> for years, this academy in oakland struggled to increase test scores. this year, they nearly made it to 800 point park. and that is a bench mark in order to be considered a high quality school. it hasn't been easy. 85% of the students here are english learner autos just working with the school. we had a focus, you know? we reviewed our data everyone participated. >> extra help taken for those who needed it. >> you can't see it and you can't touch it. >> what when california began tracking schools in twun, only

picture now there is a view from our camera. sunny skies there. and there is clouds so late to clear in the day that there is temperatures didn't warm up today. and things aren't going to change. there is current readings, san francisco, 59 degrees. and there is antioch, livermore mid to upper 70s, today running cooler than usual this time of the year. low clouds returned overnight. and there is a slight possibility. clouds hung around. low clouds, high clouds, clearing with sunshine across the bay area. and there is deepening marine layer but this show started to move in and behind that low we're going to see a brief warm up.

going to be a mini warm up. then, there is another area of low pressure, this one is stronger and we're watching this carefully. one of the computer models is bringing in a slight possibility of rain friday, perhaps lingering into early saturday. and this is a slight chance, we'll keep our eyes on this system as it may produce rain here, numbers tonight cool in places like santa rosea, napa. upper 0s cloverdale. clouds filling in with low 50s and some of the clouds making it over the bay as well. temperatures into 50s else wr. highs for tuesday into the south bay, mid-70s for san jose and cupper tino. sunshine by afternoon. upper 6s for redwood city. 57 on the coast in pacifica. clouds will hang on near the coast. there is downtown san francisco, 62, north bay going with mid-70s for napa and

los angeles county homeowners in bell will no longer pay more inappropriate taxes than people who live in beverly hills. today's lieutenant governor seen aid bill ordering return of $3 million inappropriate taxes. this happened after an audit show the city council illegally passed a resolution result hdz in a 50% tax increase over three years. the state and federal investigation remains under way into salaries of city workers such as city manager making nearly $800,000 per year. >> san francisco's former top prosecutor and san jose former police chief urging vote dwrorz vote for legalizing marijuana use in november. former san francisco district attorney and former san jose
