>> meteorologist sandhya patel is going to show us where it's raining right now. >> so far rainfall totals have ranged anywhere from quarter of an inch here in san francisco location right outside of our studio to half an inch in the santa cruz mountains. let's take you in closer down to san jose ben lomond area we're seeing some rain. you see the ben lomond area where we're seeing heavier rainfall. highlight this area around monterey bay they are picking up moderate rainfall and it will be heading towards the monterey-salinas area. light to moderate range we are just getting started. coldest part is coming in this weekend. snow down to 2500 feet locally and showers and thunderstorms.

a father in walnut creek is making a personal flee. michael smith has posted a video on youtube begging his children to contact him. he says he were abducted by his mother 13 years ago. amy hollyfield. >> he is hoping the video will continue to spread and reach his target audience. >> michael smith sat down in front of a camera and spoke from his heart to his two children who he hasn't seen for 13 years. video was posted on youtube on monday. heegs he's been an emotional wreck all week. >> a million emotions, ranging from anger to despair to the what ifs and every time the phone rings i just don't know.

included bpa is safe. it's a political decision not being made by scientific fact. >> feinstein has been pushing a compromise. >> to move aggressively right now in baby bottles and sippy cups infant formula and infant food and then in conjunction with the fda study phase out bpa from canned goods. >> the compromise was voted down just this week. now california senior senator is urging people to back away from products containing bpa, but is that really possible? how common is bpa. could it be found in cans randomly off of store shelves. working with our san diego affiliate we commissioned our

truckee and all reporting snow at this hour. numbers in the 40s it's getting cold outside. it's going to get colder snow over our local peaks about 2500 feet and chaps of thunderstorms this weekend. here satellite and radar cold front is going through right now. this is barely the beginning of what is to come. you see the cold air is back here. it's the clouds you are looking at. this has to come down along with this area of low pressure to get the colder air filter in. let me take you through time as the cold air is sitting across the bay area. showers in to tomorrow morning. watch what happens we start to get numerous showers and around 4:00 p.m. in the north bay we'll start to see possible development of thunderstorms. mount st. helena you are looking for the possibility of snow.

heavy rain and thunderstorms possibly around half moon bay and along with the thunderstorms will come some snow on top of mount hamilton, as well. we see unstable air moving in and there is the thunderstorm potential for your sunday morning. you could see up to three to four inches of snow and light dusting at the 2500 foot level. you will see a few sun breaks. rainfall totals anywhere from three-quarters to inch and a half in santa cruz mountains. for the rest of the bay area half an inch to an inch of rain. in the sierra, nevada a heavy deal of snowfall. look at snow totals two to four feet of snow above 7,000. one to two feet above 5,000 and the snow level will be lowering

down to 2,000 feet on sunday. it will be tough getting up there and if you are planning to head up there prepare for blizzard driving conditions. overnight, temperatures in the upper 30s to the mid 40s and tomorrow afternoon it's a chilly day, mid 40s around clearlake mid-50s down south around san jose but certainly see the scattered cold showers and around monterey bay temperatures in the low to mid-50s. here is the seven-day forecast. showers snow potential for thunderstorms here in the bay area. a chance of lingering showers and dry forecast for thanksgiving but cold nights are coming up in the mid-week time period. big game happening tomorrow take the rain gear low to mid-50s, showers with the potential for other storms. up next how cal and
