>> alan: a 27-year-old nursing student, michelle lee, van yishz during a break from her classes in heyward, and police discovered her car empty. the strange circumstances have her family and freps extremely concerned and they've been frantically looking for lee since she disappeared from kaiser hospital in hayward. >> reporter: michelle lee has been missing for 28 hours and the police are calling her disappearance mysterious, because according to family and friends, michelle lee would never go anywhere without telling people where she was going. it's totally out of her

character. the 26-year-old michelle lee has been missing since 7:00 p.m. yesterday. she is 5'6" and weighs 120 pounds. she was last seen in kaiser permanente making roundsle she left a hospital during a break, picking up her car keys and cell phone, all this given to the police by witnesses and lee's friends. he car was found a few blocks from the hospital. locked and valuables still inside. hayward police say she does not have a history of disappearing and police don't know if foul play is involved. >> it could be that she just wants to be alone and has secluded herself somewhere. it could also go up to an unfortunate resolution. >> reporter: police say they have more than seven investigators on the case because of the circumstance of

the disappearsan is unusual. she was supposed to go to reno with a friend for the memorial holiday but the friend never heard from her. we were supposed to talk to a friend of hers, but she said investigators did not want her to talk to us because the investigation had taken some kind of turn. we're not sure exactly what kind of turn that is. and all the individuals that were being interviewed by police have left the police station without saying a word. so at this point, michelle lee's fate is still very uncertain. reporting live in hayward. abc-7 news. >> alan: we have some breaking news from san francisco's castro district. police shut down an intersection after a suspicious bag was found near the bank of america building. people are being told to stay inside. police are not allowing cars or pedestrians within a one block raidus of the bank of america

and the bomb squad has been dispatched. >> one eastbound lane of the bay bridge is closed. caltrans is reconfiguring the lanes as part of an effort to rebuild the span to make it more seismic which i safe. the eastbound lane will be closed from 8:00 p.m. to 5:00 a.m. today and tomorrow. caltrans says drivers should not expect any significant delays. >> if you're taking b.a.r.t. from the east bay to san francisco this weekend, you can expect up to 40 minute delays. b.a.r.t. will be shutting down one of the two tracks in the transbay tube to perform maintenance and repair work this weekend and next weekend. work will begin after the last train tonight and end at 2:30 p.m. tomorrow. all the work is being performed, passengers who are traveling from stations in san francisco and the peninsula toward dublin and fremont will need to transfer at the 12th street station in oakland. >> the family of a man killed during an officer-involved shooting in oakland earlier this month is demanding answers.

lisa amin gulezian spoke with family members who are now threatening to sue the city. >> only thing i know is my brother is dead. lease less brandy johnson misses her younger brother. the 2-year-old was shot and killed in east oakland. that night he an join jackson and there'd unidentified man, were stopped by oakland police and a press release police explain they received a tip that a, quote violent crime was going to take place on the 300 block of kurran avenue. police insist the men were armed and cop front -- confrontational. and police shat antoine jackson and john sloan in the back of his head while he ran. the third map was arrested. >> they killed a bunch of guys -- two guys they don't even know the reason for, because usually cops have an answer for what they are doing.

this morning. it happened around 4:00 near king road on the east side of san jose. police are not releasing the victim's name and detectives still don't know what the motive behind the stabbing is. this marks san jose's 21st 21st homicide of the year, which surpasses the city's total number of murders -- 20 -- for all of last year. the stabbing took place two blocks away from wednesday night's fatal shooting of a 22-year-old man. firefighters say seatbelts saved the lives of four people in an early morning crash on highway 24 in orinda. rescuers found this crumpled car on the guardrail just after 4:00 a.m. they used the jaws of life to free all four people from the wreckage. three of them are seriously injured. it was a solo accident and they don't know what caused it. >> a bay area man is arrested, accused of scamming nearly 1,000

recently released inmates. michael moynihan is accused of posing as a bail bondsman. he calls them and say their bail amount has been increased and they will be rearrested if they don't pay up. moynihan denies the allegation. officials say they have several conversations. >> he has contacted agencies and jails within 42 states that we know of at this point. >> alan: moynihan is in custody in the sacramento county jail awaiting charges. thousands of scouts and other volunteers continued a memorial day weekend tradition that dates back more than 50 years. >> they spent this morning placing american flags at each of the 138,000 graves at san bruno's golden gate national cemetery. golden gate is one of the largest national cemeteries and
