just be aware that the fire crews headed out there. the bay bridge toll plaza shows the metering lights are on and traffic is stacked up away from the maze so bumper to bumper to the tolls and the bridge. from emeryville camera you can see it is a sea of tail lights pushing along in the westbound direction toward treasure island. slow-and-go traffic headed for san francisco and it will take you 15 minutes to head from the maze to san francisco. >> happening today, team u.s.a. oracle hopes to continue a comeback after being on the verge of elimination they put together a string of wins to set up the "winner take all" match. >> it has been quite a comeback. but it is nut complete. the defending champion will fight for the cup against new zealand. the team u.s.a. oracle shocked the world when it won two more

dap flipping pancakes. this morning, the vote is a first vote a test vote, with a final vote hate open sunday. >> new details on a natal shooting at a light rail shoot in san francisco. the crime appears to be random and unprovoked. investigators say this surveillance video shows the suspect before the shooting. he is described as asian, 20 to 30, with stocky build wearing a black baseball cap and a white hooded jacket. the victim was shot and killed just with 10:00 p.m. on monday as he exited a muni train at randolph and private street. the suspect ran away. >> in 9 east bay, police senatorring if three men who stole a woman's purse and it happened in the packing hot of a
store before 1:00 o'clock people yesterday afternoon. the woman's purse was on the trunk next to her and a car drove up behind her and a man get out and snatched distance. the car is described as tan 1994 ford with yellow paper dealership politicals. >> belmont police are looking for a burglar who is targeting family vehicles during little league baseball games. it happened the last three sundays at the belmont sports complex. a photo was released of the suspect taken from a business where a victim's credit card was used. they say the person used the card to buy power tools. >> students and parents are joining forces to tackle big problems: bullying. last night groups were brought together including a
representative from facebook to talk about the realities behind the epidemic. the cases on facebook and other sites are rising. on monday the governor signed a bill making california the first state to require webs to give minors a way to remove embarrassing pots. >> the governor is warning about adding more classes to the overwhelmed community college system pressing for more improvements in infrastructure of the college. trustees want more funding to add another 20,000 students and increase faculty and courses. the governor questions whether csu with 430,000 students already could be overreaching in enrollment plans. we will check with mike nicco to find out about the weather conditions. >> we will have breezes out there with wind advisory, or
small craft advisory at 15- to 25-knots. as far as what is going to happen tonight, the winds continue to shift from the north to northeast bringing a warmer and more dry and faster wind in all the areas shadeed above 1,000', critical fire weather conditions starting tonight at 11:00 through 3:00 friday afternoon! that is a stretch to be really careful. temperatures in the 40's and feeling fall-like in guerneville and 51 in novato and temperatures are mostly in the 50's until alameda at 60. today, our 24 hour temperature change is going to be negative at two to nine degrees cooler-than-average with 60's and 70's and moving forward it will be warmer tomorrow but we do have the fire danger coming

our temperatures are in the mid-60's in the coast to san francisco and up more 60's to low 70's through the south bay and tonight the temperatures are 40's in the deepest valley and most of us in the low-to-mid 50's. the cold front slid to the south and the curling nature of the low near portland pushing the secondary public cooler weather into our neighborhoods today. high pressure is building in the great basin we get a necessary wind so the warming trend is coming in with the high fire danger. temperatures on saturday are back to average without the fire threat lasting through the weekend and into next week. have a great day. >> as we head over to the peninsula, i spoke too soon because i said there were no crashes. one popped up but it now quickly moved off the freeway northbound 101 at expressway. we had one lane blocked, and now you can see clear conditions

average by 10 or 11 degrees and 71 at 4:00. it will feel like fall at 7:00, with practice, wherever you are headed, maybe to dinner and 65 degrees something to keep you warm and at the coast it will be a breezy day with temperatures starting off at 54 and warming to 60 before the chilly temperatures take over during the evening, and 58 degrees. leyla gulen? >> we will talk about wind all morning, and as mike said it is breezy and we have c.h.p. issued high wind advisory for richmond and san rafael and the bay bridge and san mateo bridge. would have a grass fire in fairfield so that will not fan the flames. we have a report of a grass fire with crews out there shut down highway 12 so try to avoid the area. to the south, along westbound 80 we have report of an accident blocking one lane and you can
see already slowing there as you come away from highway 4, and as you head to the hoffman split you are still slow-and-go traffic and it picks up through berkeley. we are a little more than two weeks away from a second possible bart strike and this morning we are learning new details of the contingency plan the agency has in place in case employees hit the picket line. abc7 news reporter matt keller is at fremont park. >> passengers told me this morning they do not want do see another strike or have to think about a plan "b" to get to work. we are two weeks away from that possibility. our media partner reports the transportation officials released a strike plan that is bigger than the response that took place during the july strike and will cost up to $21 million. bart would use triple the number of buses and car pool lanes along the bart corridor would be in force all day. new temporary diamond lanes on
highway 24 near the tunnel. one passenger said the backup plan is not perfect but helps them get to work. >> another strike is a real pain in the neck? >> for everyone. this is a lot of traffic on bart already. >> california pool -- car pool lanes will help out? >> yes. there will be extra service with the ferries and managers of bart could run some trains and the union says that threat bees public safety. the cooling-off period sends october 11. nears with bart management and unions will resume this morning and so far neither side has reported much progress in the talks. federal transportation officials are investigating whether asiana airlines met legal requirements in hing the families of passengers after july's deadly crash at sfo.
staff with ntsb quickly raised concerns with the department of transportation. under law, the asiana airline was required to provide service to family members of the 291 passengers including promptly posting a toll free number to gather and distribute information and providing transportation and lodging. >> driver is under arrest this morning after a high speed police chase in oakland that ended in a wild crash. the car slammed into a fire hydrant at foothill boulevard and 20th avenue and flipped over. the impact snapped the pole in after and knocked electrical wires on to a transit bus. no one on the bus was hurt and the crash beforely knocked out power to pg&e customers but the power is fully restored. >> police have identified several teens as "persons of interest" in the brutal beating of a 51 your old man.
david lamont was with his wife and two daughters at home and he went to check out lloyd voices. his wife found him beaten unconscious in the street. police are interviewing students from both foothill and another high school to see what they know. students seguraings with alcohol can pop up anywhere because of text messages or twitter. >> there is a reason we all talk about it and obsess and worry about it for the entire four years they are in high school and most of the time they are in college. >> a say saw a gold or brown s.u.v. drive away from the scene. so far, police have made no arrests. >> it is 6:35. an attack in a san lenadro safe way was captured on a store surveillance video. can you identify the attacker? this happened at 11 a.m. on monday morning. the man has a brief exchange with the store manager and suddenly tosses a punch knocking
the store manager to the floor. the suspect ran out of the market. the store manager was seriously injured in the fall. >> family and friends are trying to make sense an accident that left a bicyclist on life support. the 21-year-old christina is a nursing student at kick coe state and her par weres say she is brain dead and will be kept alive until they can donate her organs. she was riding the bicycle back from 9 school library on sunday and a car hit her. police say the 19-year-old driver was drunk and sped away from the scene. officers tracked him double and arrested him on d.u.i. charges. he will be charged with vehicular manslaughter. >> investigators are trying to determine the cause of a fire that rip through a home and damaged two others in the east bay. it started yesterday afternoon at a house in piedmont. the wind spread the flames to a pair of neighboring homes, and the firefighters tackled the

getting boater you could be in the minority. jane king joins us from the new york stock exchange. >> good morning. the economy is supposedly improving and we do see some data do support that but only 27 percent of americans say any expect the economy to improve over next year. the big drop from the 39 percent who felt positive about the economy in june. this is another cautious stock days with four down days in a row for the dow and we are looking at a lower start with concern of the budget ceiling, the u.s. government is expected to hit and that hocks like it is weighing on sentiment. the silicon valley index is trading down a quarter of a percent. investors are watching the financials and possible liability or responsibility for their part in causing the financial crisis. sources say j.p. morgan chase has re-entered some of the talks after attorneys general in sacramento, new york, and philadelphia, indicated they were about to sue the bank for misrepresenting the quality of

today through friday. breezy and coolest this afternoon, and feels like fall outside with the fire danger and calmer and warmer for the weekend. from the east bay hill, the camera is bouncing from emeryville to san francisco and 72 is as warm as it gets for us. you will only be 65 today but it will be cooler compared to average in other areas and livermore and san jose, 11 degrees cooler-than-average and 69 and 72. we will have a last 60's along the coast, san francisco, richmond, oakland, san mateo, san jose, 69. low-to-mid 70's everywhere else. tonight we have more 40's in the valley and along the coast and the rest of us are in the low-to-mid 50's. cold front slid to the south pulling down cooler pockets of breezy air that will take over today with the high pressure moving into the great basin over the next 24 hours the winds will come from the northeast and that will bring us the warmer and dry
