a woman is under arrest on suspicion of d.u.i. after the c.h.p. says she crashed her car into several trees. it happened in san rafael near blackstone drive at 2:00 this morning. investigators say she was speeding and hit several trees and finally came close to hitting a house. the marin county sheriff says she tried to run away but was arrested and turned over to the c.h.p. >> developing news from redwood city where firefighters are catching for hotspots from a fire at a recycling plant. there is new information for people who work in the area. abc7 news reporter, matt keller, is at the scene with an update. matt? >> the past half hour, redwood city police opened up the boulevard so people can get to work at several businesses in the area. you can see behind me the smoke and the steam coming up as firefighters continue to put water on the smoldering scrap metal, with a shelter in place advisory for people in the area.
here are pictures from the redwood city fire department, you can see what fires are dealing with. the fire started here yesterday afternoon. people could see and smell the fire and smoke for miles. >> we saw the clouds. it was black. i figured it was a fire in redwood city. we came to investigate to see what was going on. we noticed a slot of smoke and it smell like plastic. >> health advise is issued if southern san mateo, santa clara county, and southern alameda county. residents are asked to keep ones and doors closed to avoid breathing in the smoke. a fire spokesman said they are releasing equipment from the scene as this is slowly de-escalating but it could take a couple more hours to fully get the fire take were care of in redwood city. >> this is not the first time. a similar broke out here in 2007
which started at the bottom of a 30' pile of flattened cars. at that time there was a shelter-in-place situation, again. the epa accused they have of pollution. >> typhoon haiyan is now hitting vietnam and moving to china after weakening to a tropical storm. right now, the united states military is sending help to the devastated philippine cities where up to 10,000 people could be dead. the devastate in the philippines sparked a global outpouring of support including from the bay area. abc7 news reporter has more on that story. >> a small but determined group of filipino americans stood at the market in san francisco pleading for help. they are members of the filipino community center. for them, reaching out is better
than watching the devastation on television. >> the communication lines are down. there is no way to get into the other areas. because we are so far away, we want to help this is our way to help. >> in san bruno, another relief effort with food donations accepted in addition to cash. most of the collection boxes were full after two hours. members say project pearl organized the event. >> i brought by asked food, noodles, samples of soap. just a little something. >> the first filipino american united church of christ the congregation is relying on the power of prayer and donations. the basket was placed at the front of the sent -- sanctuary. >> there is assistance coming from here and we are glad the

leg and officers found another hit by a fragment in the face a few blocks away. neither injury is considered to be life threatening. no one has been arrested. >> the highway patrol is investigating a traffic accident in livermore involving one of their officers. a driver slammed into a patrol car as the officer made a traffic storm on westbound interstate 580 yesterday. the vehicle hit the s.u.v. the officer stopped. the c.h.p. officer was not hurt. a person in the car that caused the accident was taken to the hospital with major injuries. >> possible e. coli contamination of salad and sandwiches made by a richmond company prompted a food recall. 180,000 pound of ready to eat products with chicken or ham is recall under the name of "delish "and "trader joe's," and "fine food."

lucas valley 101 southbound side. be careful and use the low beams because you are at top speed. into mill valley, at top speed, as well. at the golden gate bridge camera it is clear with traffic running smoothly. >> police near houston are looking for two suspects in a weekend shooting that began with celebration gunfire at a party and ended in the deaths of two high school students. it happened saturday night at a girl's 18th birthday in suburb an houston where 100 young people attended. two others were critically injured. 22 others were injured in the chaos. word of the party spread open social media and the kids had no criminal of who would show up at the door. the birthday girl's mother was at the party. >> secretary of state john kerry will return to the united states today following weekend meetings overseas about iran's nuclear program. john kerry arrived to meet with
