abc7 news reporting for us in mission bay. amy. >> reporter: hi, reggie. when you call a police officer you want somebody to be there to take your call but according to the san francisco examiner, the city has a need for dispatchers and it was really exposed during last month's power outage. the examiner reports 206 people hung up before their calls were answered in the first hour of the emergency. that was quoted as being a wake up call. a supervisor called for a hearing to look into the 911 center and its response times. as of right now officials don't think the 911 center will have enough employees until they finish hiring more staff next year. reporting live in san francisco, amy hollyfield, abc7 news. developing news now in san jose's willow glen neighborhood

this morning. here's a live picture of a scene of an officer-involved shooting near lincoln avenue. investigators say that police shot and killed a suspect involved in a deadly double shooting inside a home just after 9:00 last night. we don't know if there's a relationship between the suspect and the victims or what that relationship may be. abc7's matt keller is gathering more information and will have a live report coming up. an investigation this morning after a golden gate transit bus hit and killed a pedestrian around 8:45 last night. golden gate transit officials say the bus was empty at the time and it's not clear if the pedestrian was in the crosswalk when the bus hit him. and then optimistic the gop health care bill is going to pass later this morning. the white house and republican leaders spent yesterday lobbying to sway party members who were against the bill or undecided. republicans need 216 votes and that margin is expected to be

razor thin. california democrats predict many of their counterparts will jeopardize their seats by voting for the bill. if the bill passes it heads to the senate where it's expected to have a tougher battle. 5:04, a politician is expected to announce he is running for mayor in 2019. the 65-year-old is considered a moderate democrat and served as city supervisor, state senator and assemblymen. a teacher accused of abducting a teen is being extradited to tennessee. it's not clear how long it will take the u.s. marshal service get cummins to tennessee. he is facing kidnapping and sex crime charges. the 50-year-old and his former student were found in a cabin northwest of redding last month

after almost six weeks on the run. angry parents in san jose have a meeting scheduled today with the school superintendent. this comes after they boycotted their children's elementary school. school. about 29% of students at hrut luther burbank school. the school district says it's trying to reverse the budget deficit. and we have more on the san francisco neighborhood dealing with a toxic problem. the toxins found underground have been leaking into the bay. >> reporter: the people who live in the san francisco arena district came to the meeting looking for answers. >> i am concerned there are toxic substances very close to where people live. >> reporter: the answer is yes, waste from two former plants that operated more than 100

years ago. pg&e spent the last couple years identifying where the toxins are using a drill with sensors, and most have been on properties where pg&e has already bought out several homeowners and the rest of near a safe way and gas house cove arena. >> this is part of reaching out of the community and talking to the community about the issues, and it's part of rebuilding the public trust. >> pg&e said toxins found near the surface have already been removed and those found in the ground will stay in place covered by a protective barrier. >> affected in there were vapor coming up, and i don't think it's going to be the case. >> that's the hope among the marina residents.

gone as we talked about. you may only be in the 50s tonight. cooler weather on the way. mid to upper 50s around the bay. san francisco, 51. san jose, 61. we have 49 in sebastoposebastop. 106 in palm springs, and 73 today in tahoe. 99 in fresno and the record is 100. here's saturday morning. partly cloudy and then look at the scattered showers develop in the north bay by noon, and then the scattered showers will cross all of the neighborhoods, and i should say moving southeast across some of the neighborhoods as we head in the afternoon and early evening hours and by the time we get to 11:00 it's gone. here's the potential rainfall. you can see some of the areas that get wet by 3:00 and then by the evening hours, a couple hundreds of an inch. let's see if there is any changing in your route this morning. how is the commute? >> looking typical. you shouldn't have to make

drastic changes. we are seeing the usual line of red here. you are down to about a 20-mile-per-hour average here. and no issues right now and not a major issue later today but we have a couple issues, and you can tell we are getting closer to the end of the year with the field trips. and separating you from the students on the normal cars today so get there early. we will check drive times coming up at 5:20. and then the heat is bringing out rattle snakes. more sightings are popping up throughout the bay area. and then officials are planning on another public meeting tonight. and then now she's opening a restaurant. what may surprise you is where it's located.

it's located. and pg&e learned a tragic lesson we can never forget. this gas pipeline ruptured in san bruno. the explosion and fire killed eight people. pg&e was convicted of six felony charges including five violations of the u.s. pipeline safety act and

conducting an investigation. a face-off in san francisco over a temporarily homeless shelter. the first meeting drew a crowd so large more than 100 people were turned away. many fear the center will bring problems in an area inundated with tent encampments. tonight's meeting will be held at the john o'connell high school at 6:00 p.m. and attracting a lot of people to the east bay's parks, and with the heat comes potentially dangerous rattle snakes. last weekends a dog got bit in livermore, and there were six sightings in the regional east bay parks in the last week and so they are warning to watch out under your feet. >> make sure you are not in tall brush or on the trails. >> if you move fast in front of

i am just getting word of some debris around the high-rise, and an update on that in less than ten as well. and dumbarton, you are incident free and in the green with just ten minutes. developing news in the south bay, san jose police shot and killed a man after finding two people dead in a home. >> matt keller is there live. matt. >> reporter: natasha, since i last saw you the police investigation has continued here in this willow glen neighborhood. we are told the bodies of the victims and suspect is here. it started as a report of a shooting. officers arrived here last night after 9:00 and found two people dead here. the s.w.a.t. team was called in and they open fire on the suspect and that man died at the scene. the officer has been placed on

paid administrative leave. this is the second officer-involved shooting in 24 hours. the district attorney's office will also be investigating this officer-involved shooting. happening today, the house is voting on the measure that could be the last step in repealing and replacing the affordable care act. and a face-to-face meeting with president trump, the amendment gives states $8 billion over five years to help cover pre-existing conditions. the gop health care bill needs 216 votes to pass and this is going to be a close one. >> this is deadly. this is deadly. trumpcare means heart-stopping premium increases for americans. >> opposed to the bill, and already attacking republicans for

boy's condition this morning. and then san francisco police shot and killed a man and the chief said two officers were walking market street yesterday and they saw the suspect strabing a subway sandwich's employee. one officer open fire killing the suspect, and the two had been arguing over a sandwich. and the victim is expected to be okay. this is the first fatal police chief since the captain took over. police have not confirmed if there is footage of this incident. and then the death of a teenager hit and killed by a train. and the 16-year-old was riding his bike near the high school. his principal say students and staff are just devastated. >> he had a big heart. he was able to build close

friendships and earn the loyalty of everybody around him. he will be incredibly missed. we are all incredibly heartbroken. >> police are look into whether the student was wearing ear buds or anything that may have affected his hearing. the area near castro market street is clear this morning after police investigated a suspicious package last night. san francisco officers shut down the area and issued a shelter in place. these photos are from our abc7 news reporter, and there was the all clear last night. and then suing the giants of social media. several families filed suits against facebook, google and twitter yesterday. they claim the company's knowingly supported isis by helping to promote attacks like the one in san bernardino. they have not yet reresponded and several lawsuits have been

thrown out of court. and then slapping a unified school district with a lawsuit. the suit contains the district is doing a poor job of teaching children with reading disorders. the district has a one-size-fits-all approach to teaching. the goal is to make sure educators have the tools to teach all kids. if seeing is believing, see this? the golden gate bridge and the fog, and it's going to be cooler for all of us today. we have a northwest wind pushing the fog through the golden gate and into most of our neighborhoods or at least the cooling sea breeze. clouds and sunshine on the bay. on the roads, patchy dense fog around petaluma especially on the peninsula around highway 101. mass transit,

everybody cooler. some of the biggest drops, the 70s gone this morning. antioch is nine degrees cooler and oakland six degrees cooler. where does that put us? richmond, 51. we have oakland at 56. still some 60s hanging on. pleasanton, livermore, and 50 in lovato. 59 in pacifica. and about 61 right now in san jose. going to jump ahead to saturday and give you an idea of what to expect when you are outside. morning hours, quiet. by noon, the scattered showers are going to develop. northwest wind will push the showers very scattered, once again, across all of the neighborhoods during the afternoon and evening hours, and then at 7:00 to 8:00, the sunset and we lose the energy and the rain. don't change any plans, but just know a stray shower may come across your neighborhood and

captured in one county. >> i'm freaking out. >> that is something to see. a cabin swept away in the floodwaters on tuesday and look what emerges on the other side after it hits the bridge and it's just crushed. you can see the debris floating down the river there. and then you may see a lot more drones flying around san francisco. a set of new rules is expected to be approved for different agencies tomorrow. each department will have to draft its own specific policies and the reasons to use a drone. the committee is going to retain the right to vote. and then the major of oakland backing away from funds to divert funds from the soda tax measure.

and the city council meeting is where residents threatened to affect her re-election. voters were promised the money would go to childhood obesity. she had a change of heart. and then a not in my neighborhood fight over a marijuana dispensary in san francisco. they were going to serve as co-owners of the cannabis business. >> somebody who was high on drugs, and they had an accident. >> if you are going to keep it in in neighborhood, in in neighborhood, misinforming the community.

appeccording to one company apple claims its responsible for 2 million u.s. jobs. tim cook said apple formed a fund to promote manufacturing jobs across the country and the company claims all of its main products like the iphone and mac and iwatch is made from equipment from u.s. suppliers. a southern california family says they are outraged after getting kicked off an overbooked delta flight to lax. look at the cell phone video. it captures the moment they are asked to get off the plane. they say they had just wrapped up a vacation in hawaii and everybody was buckled up and ready to fly home when they were told they had to give up their son's seat. >> you have to give up the seat or you are going to jail, your wife is going to jail and they will take your kids from you.

>> brian shear says he was furious because he paid for the seat and bought the ticket for his 18-year-old son. his 18-year-old son took a different flight home and he told delta they would use the seat for one of their toddlers and that was fine until the flight got full. and our we have reached out to delta and so far no response. and then the warriors are finding out how expensive it is to live here and play here. the team is fine with it. the contract requires the dubs to stay in oakland for two seasons and should get final approval next week. tonight the warriors will try to take a commanding lead in the playoff series against the jazz. >> golden state faces utah at oracle arena, and fur not going to be at the game you can watch it on our sister network, espn. dub nation, showing their pride.
