by 6:45. there's a full detour in place. you're exiting off at alemany and getting back on the freeway about a mile or so south. so heads up there. elsewhere on this early martin luther king day, they are expecting the celebration train to leave san jose at 9:45 this morning, heading to palo alto and san mateo and land in san francisco at 10:50 for all the festivities. matt keller says that this is sold out. but at each train station, they have celebrations going on. so if you can get to one of the stations, you can partake in some of the fun. then, of course, san francisco ongoing until early afternoon. more now on that breaking news that has shut down southbound 280. abc 7 news reporter tiffany wilson is live there on scene. tiffany? >> reporter: hi, jessica. chp just had us back up.

we're a couple hundred feet further away from the exit ramp than we were before. if you take a look behind me, you can see the detour is still in place. chp officers directing cars off alemany boulevard. all of this under way because of a shooting investigation. it started around 3:20 this morning when chp was notified by the san francisco police department that there was a possible freeway shooting at 280 south in alemany boulevard. chp says there are anywhere from 3 to 6 victims. at this point, no word on the victims' conditions. the victims were all together or in multiple cars. >> received the call from the victims that transported themselves to san francisco general. we are -- the patrol is currently investigating and looking for evidence on the freeway at this time. >> reporter: we have seen officers using flashlights combing the highway further down. they also have crime scene tape

i really felt like i had been robbed of something. >> he was released on friday. the immigration debate heating up in washington and in the courts. federal government is once again taking daca renewal applications after a federal judge in san francisco ordered the trump administration to resume the program. on capitol hill, negotiations over a comprehensive immigration bill fell apart last week. president trump tweeted, daca is probably dead because the democrats don't really want it. they just want to talk and take desperately needed money away from our military. south bay congressman ro khanna addressed the issue. >> the first priority has to be to protect the daca kids. the judge showed that the trump administration doesn't have the right to take away something that has been promised already. >> d.r.e.a.m.ers are holding on to hope that a bipartisan bill reaches the president's desk. believe it or not, a united

airlines flight that left san francisco at 2:20 yesterday afternoon still making its way to paris because it had to be diverted late last night. i want to show you the path the flight took when it did have to make that change. you can see united flight 990 was about to leave north america when there was actually a medical issue on board. they were forced to reroute to dulles. landed about 10:00 p.m. last night. i do want to show you where that plane is right now. perhaps you have a loved one on board. it's over the atlantic making its way to europe. flight officials didn't say what the medical issue was. the faa is investigating and we hope that passenger is okay. as for the flight, they're expected to land in paris this morning around 7:00 after an 11-hour delay. back to you. thank you, jessica. the nation is honoring the legacy of civil rights leader dr. martin luther king, jr. in the bay area, that means the celebration train is ready to roll. >> it's a tradition. the celebration train starts in san jose, ends in san francisco

at 4th and townsend. from there, passengers traditionally march in the celebration. the train is free. but it's already sold out. for other celebrations honor dr. king, visit north bay supervisor is questioning a plan to put a bike lane on the richmond-san rafael bridge. the project would create a bike lane on the upper deck separated by a movable median barrier. according to marin supervisor connolly thinks the space should be used for cars headed westbound. he said bikes should be allowed on weekends or non mark wahlberg giving up his reshoot feet for "all the money in the world" after a controversy with michelle williams. how she is now spooneding. tesla's model 3 in the showroom. we're getting a test drive to show you what it's like on the roads. after a foggy start, the moisture translates into

new developments in the controversy over pay equity in hollywood involving michelle williams and mark wahlberg. williams is applauding her co-star for donating his film fee. he was paid $1.5 million to reshoot scenes of the movie "all the money in the world" that originally included actor seven spacey. williams was paid just a thousand dollars for the reshoot. wahlberg will donate his money to time he 's up she said if we truly envision an equal world, it takes equal effort and sacrifice.

let's talk temperatures on the peninsula. mid-40s, look at that. redwood city, menlo park, 48. everybody else 50 to 54 degrees. some of the warmest temperatures because the rest of us are in the mid to upper 40s. los gatos at 51. that's ahead of the storm coming in with rain. we're actually seeing a little bit warm and humid air mass move in. we're also seeing, unfortunately, really dangerous surf on the beaches today. exercisi exercising, good, humid and mild in foggy spots. highs today, mid-60s in the south bay. the best air that could see sunshine through the cloud deck. the rest of us 58 to 62 degrees. our lows tomorrow morning will be around 47 to about 53 degrees. notice some green on the map. that means it's going to rain tonight. i'll have more on that next. here's an update on the sigalert. >> martin luther king day with this traffic alert. it's in san francisco, southbound 280. the alemany exit to the full

freeway closure there. detouring cars and vehicles off at alemany and then back on to southbound 280 about a mile down the road. they're hoping to have this investigation wrapped up in about a half an hour or so. they had originally said 6:45. we'll be checking in with that. it is relatively light due to the martin luther king holiday. to the san mateo bridge, we had a report of an accident eastbound. that would be the direction the headlights are coming just before the toll plaza. i don't see it in our live shot here. your commute direction westbound is still a pretty good drive as you can see with an 18 -- 16 to 18-minute drive from hayward to foster city. foster city.

. welcome back. we do have some developing news coming in right now this morning. travelers at chicago's o'hare international airport may have been exposed to measles. officials say a passenger with a confirmed case of the highly contagious disease landed and boarded another flight. affects anyone who traveled through the airport last wednesday morning or afternoon. the sick passenger reportedly traveled through terminals 5 and 1 according to the illinois department of public health. if you traveled through the airport on wednesday and have not had a measles vaccine, you will certainly want to get tested.

clouds will thin during the noon hour. and then some stray light showers are possible after that. it is a spare the air day. our 18th of the winter season. wood burning banned until midnight. showers will taper north to south across the neighborhoods. there you go. several light rains coming. let's take a look at what's going on with live doppler 7. you just see the increase in clouds out there. there's a few radar returns. sprinkles are possible before the storm gets here in full force tonight. 9:00, you can see mainly gray out there and a lot of haze and the fog starting to lift. the fog lifting during the noon hour. it will be brighte, especially in the south bay. some showers will start to develop up in the north bay by 4:00. they'll hang around through 7:00. as we head towards 2:00, the moderate rain moves nchl the yellows and the oranges in the north bay. by 4:00, in the heart of the bay. as we head towards 9:00, it just kind of falls apart. so, during the evening commute tonight at 4:00, any rain out there measurable will be in ukiah.

wet streets by 4:00 tomorrow morning will be north of san francisco. and then by 9:00, everybody is going to be a little wet by the end of the commute. >> next storms thursday, friday and sunday. 1s also. light. starting your day with a traffic alert. this is back to san francisco. south 101 where we have the full freeway closure at alemany boulevard due to police activity. they've been out there since about 3:30 this morning. they hope to have it open by 6:45. that's what they've told us. full detour is in place. because it's holiday, it is not causing much of a backup at all. be aware that that's happening. elsewhere, the orange on the screen, mike has been talking about the fog advisory. it is the holiday. let's check in with b.a.r.t. trains. 13 trains running on time. larkspur ferry on expanded holiday service. your ace train running a modified schedule. 3 and 5 are the two morning commute trains. thank you, sue.

then they bring you back on to 280 past the scene. we have an overturned vehicle that may slow you with folks taking a look as it's removed from the side of the road. very foggy over the altamont pass. the orange represents fog. just a minor bit of slowing as you approach the pass and then things pick up speedwie into livermore. heads-up with that thick, dense fog. sue, thank you. 6:31 now. on to the develop news where officers shot an armed man after an hour long confrontation. last night officers heard several shots fired outside of the police station on city center drive. an armed male suspect was asking police to shoot him. one of the officers who fired at him, the suspect's condition has not been released. a man to tried to jump over the side of highway 101 is in custody. an officer saved his life with the help of good samaritans. abc 7 news was on highway 101 when a chp helicopter landed in the lanes to help the officer on

the ground. it started just before 5:00 p.m. last night when drivers called about a barefoot man running across the freeway. when an officer approached him, the man tried to jump over the side, which is about 30 feet above the ground. >> man, the traffic stopped. i just jumped out of the car. man was trying to go over there. trying to help pull him back over. he came back over. they detained him once that happened. it's like, you know, it was crazy, man. crazy. >> the man is undergoing a mental health evaluation. search teams will try again to recover the body of a south bay high school tennis coach from a lake. 27-year-old tyler nooe and his skydiving instructor fell into a lake in new zealand last wednesday. this video is from the new zealand herald. he was the varsity boys tennis coach in san jose. both he and the instructor were wearing life jackets. we celebrate the achievements and the message of

dr. martin luther king, jr. >> the train leaves san jose this morning and reporter matt keller is there for us. good morning, matt. >> reporter: three hours away from when the martin luther king, jr. celebration train leaves here in san jose. but i have some bad news for people who don't already have tickets. it is sold out. of course, the tickets were free. the train leaves here from san jose at 9:45 this morning. it will make stops in san mateo and will end in san francisco. once there, people will be able to take part in the march or go to buena gardens for a full day of festivities. this year's theme is the urgency of now. the northern california martin luther king, jr. community foundation says there's been a return to intolerance and despair that has given voice to some of the nation's worst instincts. celebration of the life of dr. king was held yesterday in san francisco where the mood was a bit somber. >> i see a lot of these things happening that the forces of

change seem to be going in the opposite direction of what king would have wanted. >> reporter: nor cal mlk says it will spend the entire year in programs and projects designed to reflect on society where it has come and where they want it do go. if you'd like more information on the events, go to reporting live in san jose, matt keller, abc 7 news. thank you, matt. president trump now denying he used profane language to describe haiti and african nations during an oval office meeting on immigration. >> after the backlash, president trump finally addressed the growing firestorm. talking to reporters, he said he is "the least racist person you will ever interview." the president's allies in the meeting are come to his defense and saying he's telling the truth. >> i'm telling you he didn't use that word and it's a gross misrepresentation. >> he said put me down for one or more europeans to come to this country. why don't we get more people from norway, that's exactly what the president said.

>> civil rights activists and georgia congressman john lewis says he thinks the president is a racist. he's also not attending the state of the union address later this month. according to fortune magazine, the san francisco-based company is launching a campaign to promote tourism in haiti, and african countries. in a series of tweets, they shared photos of destinations in those countries. airbnb wants to encourage more travelers to visit these beautiful and special places. let's head down to the south bay. in the valley, we're in the mid to upper 40s. you start to head up in the hills, los altos 50. lows gat toes, 51. there are mild temperatures or air waiting for us heading through afternoon hours. most of us in the mid to upper 40s until alameda, san francisco and half moon bay at 50. we have 51 in san carlos and bodega bay at 53 degrees.

believe it or not, temperatures are warmer than yesterday. san mateo bridge, no fog here. most of the fog is in the inland valleys of the north bay and the east bay. caution on the roads this morning. mass transit, there is a chance of light showers. if you're heading home during the evening commute and on the bay, we'll say caution because it is foggy the further inland you get into some of those areas, like san pablo bay. breezes will be light. east bay, 8:00 this morning, 49. mostly cloudy and around 60 degrees this afternoon. during the evening hours, stray showers and mid-50s. for san francisco, 49 this morning. we'll be in the upper 50s, 57 by noon. all the way through 4:00 and then 55 by 8:00 when light showers are possible also. i'll show you the first of a couple of storms coming up in the seven-day forecast. here's sue. >> all right. well if you've been with us the last hour you know about this freeway closure. hoping to pick it up by 6:45. we'll see. the police activity south 280 at

breaking news we've been tracking all morning. southbound interstate 280 shut down and police are investigating a shooting involving up to six victims. abc 7 news reporter tiffany wilson is live near the scene. tiffany? >> reporter: good morning, jessica. i have good news for travelers. chp asked us to leave the highway. that is an indication that they're about to reopen it. if it is still blocked, there are police lights behind me. all cars are being forced off on to the alemany boulevard exit from 280 south. 3:20 this morning, chp received a call from the san francisco police department reporting that several victims had driven themselves to the hospital and reported that they were shot at 280 south and alemany boulevard. chp says there are anywhere from three to six victims. to word, though on their condition. officers are still investigating to see if the victims were in one or more cars.

and the african-american players who challenged the baseball establishment in the '60s and '70s. a communty meeting is set for tomorrow to provide help for neighbors left homeless by the mudslides in montecito. thousands attended a vigil last night. the death toll climbed to 20 yesterday after they found the body of a 30-year-old man, his 6-year-old son and his father-in-law died in the mudslides. the man's 2-year-old daughter is still missing. it may be weeks before a stretch of highway 101 reopens. over 70,000 cars use that freeway every day. crews in the north bay making progress on cleanup following the wildfires in october. the cleanup at coffey park is expected to wrap up in about two weeks. the rest of sonoma county should be cleared by the end of next week. 1800 lots have been cleared. that's about 1 million tons of debris so far. the north bay wildfires killed 40 people and the flames destroyed more than 6,000 homes.

comedian and actor aziz ansari responding to allegations of sexual misconduct made against him by a woman he was seeing last year. in a statement, ansari says he apologized to the 23-year-old photographer after he she told him she had an uncomfortable sexual encounter with him at his apartment. she claims he was aggressive toward her. she texted him to say she was upset with his behavior. she came forward after she saw ansari wearing a time's up pin at the awards last week. 6:46 now. a nonprofit dog rescue has to make repairs. abc 7 news was at rocket dog rescue. that's where debris from an early morning crash covered the ground. rocket dog volunteers tell us that a car slammed into the facility fence around 3:00 a.m. yesterday morning. the shelter houses about 30 dogs. >> luckily, no dogs were hurt.

may need the sunglasses for a few hours. the clouds thicken around 4:00. especially in the north bay where you see green, some spotty showers there. the south bay is dealing with a little bit of sunshine. by 7:00, there's spotty showers just about everywhere. it's not until 2:00 when we see the steadier moderate to heavier rain. by the beginning of the commute, 4:00, it's there and moving into the south bay. i should say the heart of bay. it's over by 9:00. let's look at the commute. 4:00 this evening, no measurable rain. 7:00, santa rosa. we're dry tonight. tomorrow morning at 4:00, north of san francisco wet. but by 9:00, the end of the commute, all of us are dealing with slick streets. the next two storms are thursday and friday. they are also light storms on the storm impact scale. sue? >> true to form. according to abc 7's tiffany wilson, they've reopened 280 that's been shut down for most of the morning this morning. it's now clear. they are expecting the traffic, if any, to dissipate here rather

rapidly. so once again, south 280 at alemany has been reopened. they have concluded their investigation. we do have an overturned vehicle out of lanes but still causing slow traffic south 680 near lake herman. it's very foggy as represented by the orange on the map there. there may be emergency crews blocking the lanes to get the car righted and out of there. expect slowing and thick fog conditions, dense fog over the altamont and benicia bridges as well. hi everyone. still watching the story. we told you about it briefly in our newscast earlier. a fire engulfing a casino shuttle boat off the florida gulf coast. at least one person is dead according to a hospital spokesperson who spoke out about an hour ago. there's still 14 others injured at this hour. the shuttle boat caught fire. it was making its way to a casino ship when this happened. a lot of people had to jump off board. no word on why that particular
