7:00 this evening. those temperatures very cool from the 30s and 40s at 7:00. low to mid-50s from noon to 4:00. grab a coat this evening. you'll need it. we'll be in the mid to upper 40s. let's get another check of what's going on. see if there's other hotspots. i know there were some damp spots when i drove in. >> little bit of wet pavement but not as much standing water. we're looking live at the san mateo bridge. no issues on westbound 92. we did have high wind advisories issued around midnight for altamont pass and the benicia bridge and antioch bridge. we could still have some gusts out there. let's look along the windy stretches. 20 minutes there. >> alexis, thank you. howling winds and saturated soil caused some trees to come down in the bay area. one 100-foot tree took out power. >> one tree cleaned up in alamo.
amy hollyfield is there live for us. amy? >> reporter: hi, reggie. good news for the residents. the tree is gone. the road is now clear. we see pieces that they've left along the side of the road. they had to chop it up to get it out of here. here is a look at it when it was down. it fell along castle crest road in alamo. it cut off access to dozens of homes. but no one was hurt. here's another one in another part of the bay area. this 100-foot tree came down in the storm on occidental road up in the north bay. it brought down power lines with it. 1500 homes lost power in sonoma county. pg&e worked hard to restore the customers. 476, though, still don't have power. they're expected to get it turned back on by 10:00 this morning. live in alamo, amy hollyfield, abc 7 news. thank you, amy. a center opened to help people recovering from the north bay
fires is going to close today. the small business administration disaster loan outreach center opened in the days following the october fires. it provided assistance to businesses and residents. now the deadline to apply for property damage loan has passed. 34 people are waking up someplace else this morning following a fire that heavily damaged a fremont apartment building. sky 7 is showing you the aftermath near mission boulevard and interstate 680 yesterday. we're told as many as 12 units are destroyed, damaged or potentially uninhabitable. the cause of the fire is still under investigation. another shakeup at san francisco-based wells fargo. four board members planning to resign next month at the shareholders meeting. increasing pressure as they deal with improper sales practices. investigators are looking into whether they made inappropriate referrals for 401(k) plan
paragraphs pants. federal sanctions are in place until they fix their problems. the dmv at the oakland coliseum suffered water and roof damage last month when someone broke in and stole copper piping from the roof. they were supposed to reopen this week after getting delayed a couple times before that. the bay area newsgroup reports that it's been delayed again. the dmv is still conducting driving tests at the east oakland location but other appointments have to be done elsewhere. for fallout from the florida high school shooting massacre. two major retailers are taking action on gun control. l.l. bean will stop selling guns to anyone under 21 at the flagship store in maine. it only sells guns for hunting and target shooting. rei suspended its relationship with them because it manufactures gun and ammunition. they join walmart, dick's
sporting goods and kroger now in restricting gun sales. a congresswoman who survived an assassination attempt was in the bay area last night. >> gabby giffords is hopeful for real gun control reforms. abc news reporter kate larsen heard from her. >> democrats, republicans, we must never stop fighting. >> former congresswoman gabby giffords was shot in the head in 2011. she's demanding nationwide gun control. >> be bold. be courageous. the nation is counting on you. >> giffords, her husband, retired astronaut mark kelly and university of california president janet napolitano spoke at a scholarship event in san francisco. it's in honor of gabe zimmerman who was killed in the assassination attempt on giffords. >> it's not normal. we are unlike any other country when it comes to gun violence. we have mass shootings at a rate comparable with the country of yemen. >> up until this point, the

issued for the tahoe area. stay out of the boundary areas or the out of bound area. that's where you can run into the high winds and avalanches could occur. here's what's going on. snow showers tomorrow. then it's going to be quiet for sunday through thursday. this morning, more fallout from the larry nassar sexual abuse scandal. in the past 30 minutes or so, olympic gymnast aly raisman announced the filing of a lawsuit against the u.s. olympic committee and usa gymnastics. it alleges that the u.s. olympic committee was aware at the highest levels of its organization that nassar had molested olympic and national team level gymnasts. >>. [ inaudible ] >> it has become painfully clear that these organizations have no intention of properly addressing this problem and
calling for an investigation from the u.s. olympic committee and usa gymnastics. mark farrell is backing a police union measure whether they decide whether to arm officers with tasers. it puts him at odds with police chief william scott. scott believes that it should be the police commission that decides this issue. but mayor farrell tells abc 7 news, the process has taken too long. both the mayor and chief scott support arming officers with tasers. abc 7 news has reached out to the police commission president for comment, but we have not yet heard back. florists at the san francisco flower mart fear that their businesses could be jeopardized. there's a plan to develop a state-of-the-art whole shale fou we are market at the soma site. vendors would have to move for the time being.

>> definitely easier to see than yesterday when it was shrouded in clouds and rain. we'll have rounds of showers today. you'll go from needing the sun glasses to possibly the umbrella to seeing rainbows. a lot of these showers, lightning and hail, brief gusty winds, brief heavy rain and that chance lingers through tomorrow and tuesday. there's a shower around half moon bay moving towards hillsborough. it will wet your streets once again. another one south of pescadero towards los altos hills and sunnyvale and cupertino. these are all rotating to the east. if you live east of those areas, it could get wet once again over the next 45 minutes or so. here's what's going on at 7:00 this morning. you can see just a few green blips out there. same thing at noon. then we throw in the heating of the day.
that makes the air buoyant enough, you could see more showers develop during the afternoon and into the early evening hours. look at all that snow in lake county. we're not going to see that until the sunsets at 7:00. then we could see there, see hamilton and diablo, a little bit of dusting on them. >> saturday, showers starting to taper again. not a washout. if you have plans to be outside tomorrow, i wouldn't change them. be careful. if you see a dark cloud coming your way, it may rain. sunday dries out, still below average. but then back in the low to mid-60s. then another light storm on wednesday and thursday. alexis. so far so good on the roads. we've had a handful of incidents and no slowdowns yet. we'll take it. moving in on the traffic maps. once again to the south bay, we have a new issue. sounds like a two-car crash before you goat fair oaks avenue. it's all off on the shoulder.
