spotter system in this area. it was activated, letting them e out and found the man who they say they tried to a le scene. so they did pursue it in case the person inside that car was or were involved in the shooting. they say they lost that car while they were pursuing it. no arrests at this time. we wanted to get off this information. we got the information from police that someone was shot and killed in san francisco's mission district. live in san francisco, amy hollyfield, abc 7 news. starting today b.a.r.t. will begin a pilot program to phase out paper tickets. only clipper cards sold at a downtown berkeley station. passengers can still use the paper tickets across the b.a.r.t. system. the agency is, woulding only to sell clipper cards next year.

no 80s, no 90s, no. 100100100100 >> sounds great to me. very light drive times so far this morning. if you're traveling westbound across the richmond-san rafael bridge, you're in the green at just seven minutes. 12-minute drive westbound 92 across san mateo. westbound 84 across the bridge coming in at just about eight minutes. we're keeping an eye on a prop in solano county eastbound 80 near cherry glen. it sounds like it's mostly contained to the shoulder. that's about it. two people were sent to the hospital in pacheco after a car slammed into two mobile homes near buchanan field before 9:00 last night. firefighters pulled a woman and child out of the car and took them to the hospital. their injuries do not appear to be serious.

dangerously close to a swaying trailer. it was the largest quake in 20 years, sparking fires and causing thousands of power outages. hundreds of residents packed into this town hall to hear from authorities who say the aftershocks are slowing down but could continue to months. >> they have had a significant psychological impact on us. we're going to have a lot more earthquakes and a lot stronger shaking. >> we all have a unique role and responsibility to prepare, individually to be prepared for the next earthquake of magnitude even greater than 7.1. >> reporter: residents are now assessing the damage from collapsed walls to cracked foundations. some choosing not to return home. >> my ceiling is cracked halfway through. i have a crack going up my wall. at this point i'm homeless. >> reporter: the quakes are taking a financial toll. many people don't have

massachusetts courtroom for another hearing. >> this is over groping allegations. the accuser claims spacey bought him drinks at a bar before forcibly groping him. spac spacey's attorney says the phone has text messages that prove his innocence. in the east bay one firefighter is recovering after a fire gutted two pleasant hill homes. one homeowner lived there for more than 30 years and is desperately searching for her two cats. she says everything else is gone. contra costa fire officials say the wind made the flames spread quickly. they confirmed the fire started in between the homes where the gas lines were located. >> we heard a lot of popping noises. by the time we went outside to the side of the house, it already was engulfed in flames. he tried to put it out with a garden hose, but it was too

intense. >> at least seven neighbors are displaced and the exact cause of the fire is still under investigation. >> three people have been arrested after an eight-hour standoff in san jose. it started around 11:00 yesterday morning on stone avenue near kirter in. police say there was a possible dispute involving people with at least one gun. officers were asked to make a welfare check at the house. the s.w.a.t. team and crisis negotiators tried to contact the people inside. san francisco's chain store ban has supporters and critics talking about the impact it has on our city. chain stores are banned in north beach, chinatown and hayes valley. critics say the ban puts a burden on the city's ability to adapt to changing consumer tastes. they say it leaves dozens of empty store fronts. supporters say it preserves the eclectic streets

one of the areas in the low to mid 70s instead of mid to upper 80s for even 100s for this time of year. we'll see the slowest sunshine of the summer so far. no heat in this forecast today. cloudy, patchy drizzle, fog. we'll do it again tonight. summer is going to have to get there. it's not going to get to everybody's neighborhoods. look at the cloud cover. look how it never leaves. just about half of the way, noon. all the way to the eevg hours from san mateo to the richmond-san rafael bridge. it never goes away. it gets thick again tonight. another night of mist and drizzle. mid to upper 70s in the south bay. 66 in millbrae to 71 in palo alto. that's the spread on the pe theheoastre thsever leave. plus you've got a breeze out there. it's going to be quite brisk, 61 in downtown san francisco.

temperatures mid to upper through most of the north bay. if you want 80s you've got to go up to clear lake, cloverdale and ukiah. mid to upper 60s most of the east bayshore line. we'll try to get 70s, newark down towards fremont. you'll see low to mid 70s for most of the east bay valleys. we've got upper 70s to about 80 degrees. here is a look at my forecast. more of the same tomorrow. we'll stay below average wednesday. closer to average thursday. a few 90s show up, barely, thursday, friday, saturday. mentioning the cloud cover a few minutes ago. we actually got a dense fog advisory in for golden gate bridge from chp. looking at this camera, this is on the southbound end of the bridge near the toll plaza. on the marin county side or near the midspan, it could be much denser. keep an eye out for that. it could slow you down a few minutes if you're going to or from the north bay this morning. really, just looking at a couple of our typical slow spots.

derick almena taking the stand today. how his testimony could affect the outcome of his trial. good morning. it's monday, july 8th. a lot of you getting back to work after the holiday weekend. >> back in the swing of things. a little cool to start. let's get over to meteorologist mike nicco. >> what's up with that? like you said, good sleeping weather. nobody wants to get out of bed when it's this cool and drizzly and gray to begin with. you can see it on live doppler 7. the patchy drizzle is out there. i drove through it. you can't see even almost the top of the embarcadero center because of the lowness of the clouds and thickness of the moisture. drizzle for just about all of us through 9:00, mid to upper 50s. still in the 50s and 60s as the sunshine will be the slowest i've seen in months letting go of the cloud cover, letting go of the sunshine. you can see at 4:00 we're still barely in the 70s, even 50s at the coast and upper 50s to mid 60s
