the person out. in pittsburgh, a one-year-old girl is safe tonight after being found in a stolen car. sky seven capturing those dramatic moments. the car, with her inside, what's stolen earlier this evening, leading to an amber alert. the suspect still has not been found. thank you for joining us. i am dan ashley. . ama: i am ama daetz. abc 7 news reporter j.r. stone reports from pittsburgh. j.r.: this is all new video showing the moment a one-year-old girl was found by authorities safe and sound. >> one of the neighbors heard a baby crying and flashed the lights and saw the baby and when they saw the baby, they called the police. >> -- j.r.: this is video showing the police response. we were flying above when authorities got the call and raced to get the baby. we were there when the child was eventually reunited with her family members. >> from what i hear, there was a

van parked here and it was parked here for about one hour. j.r.: around 5:45 thursday evening, officers responded to the area near this mexican rested in -- restaurant. the father got out of the suv to talk with someone, leaving the baby in her car seat with the vehicle running. police say a woman walked up and asked for a cigarette and then got in the suv and drove off with the baby in the backseat. after recovering that baby, officers use canines to try and track descent of the woman who stole the suv and the child at times running from one location to another and at last check, she is still out there. ama: cat was j.r. stone reporting. that suspect in pittsburgh is described as a woman in her 30's, medium build, with a tattoo on her face. authorities are still looking for her and police are

circulating the woman's description in concord as well just in case there is any link between these two car thefts. dan: people injured duringuring chain reaction collision. sky seven was over the scene as an suv smashes into a truck. watch this, pinning the people behind it. the chp was monitoring the group of anti-vaccination protesters who had gathered near the plaza. the chp tells abc 7 news that the ford explorer was going north when it hit a sweeper truck come as you can see, which careened into a bridge buffer truck, hitting the victims he had one chp officer remains hospitalized. ama: before the crash happened, traffic dan: hundreds of protest -- crash happened, traffic. dan: cornell barnard has the story. >> you will not make our jobs contingent on a jab. corn hundreds of protesters

the men and transport him to the hospital. firefighters say a dog died in the fire. a word yet on the cause. ama: we are learning more about the san francisco educator who was hit and killed by a car yesterday just outside his school. at 11:00, we are hearing from his longtime girlfriend who he met while working at the school. kate larsen also spoke to his students and family who remember him as smart, helpful, and kind. born and raised in san francisco, andrew went back to his childhood alma mater, sherman elementary, to teach, but on wednesday morning, as his school was about to begin, the 30-year-old para-educator was hit and killed on the sidewalk across from school. >> he was one of the nicest teachers i knew. >> he was one of logan plans after school teachers. >> he always helped me. when iwhen i >> school is out for veterans day but logan wanted to stop by

and pay his respects. his mom witnessed the crash minutes after she dropped logan off at school on wednesday. >> it was really shocking to see him lying there. >> sf pd says two cars were involved in the collision at franklin and union. the supervisor's office says the accident is under investigation and charges could be filed. i spoke to andrew's parents today. andrew was their only son and they are devastated. his mom told me andrew touched many lives and his father said that what happened to his son makes him angry but they want everyone to know how comforting it has been to hear all of the kind words from the school principal, the families, and community. andrew's girlfriend, adrian yang, shared this photo with us and says they met five years ago while working at sherman. >> i could not believe it. i was in hard denial and i think part of me still is. >> they plan to inspect the intersection on friday.

kate larsen, abc 7 news. dan: donations to the gofundme account benefiting the family now top $200,000 and a $10,000 reward is being offered to help solve the case. the boy was sleeping while his mother drove down on saturday when a freeway shooting broke out. a stray bullet killed jasper in his car seat. no arrests have been announced. the oakland chinatown chamber of commerce is putting up the reward. >> we are here to wake up people and say enough is enough. something has to be done. it cannot be done by one or two people. it has to be all of us. dan: anyone with information can call the chp immediately at this number. 707- there is a 10,000 dollar reward being offered to anyone with information that leads to the arrest of the shooter. ama: students and faculty at a santa rosa school learned a

valuable lesson about the potential dangers of carbon monoxide poisoning. strong odor forced the evacuation of the bridge church around 10:30 this morning and there was a carbon monoxide leak. 14 people, 12 of them students, were treated for exposure to carbon monoxide. it covered a heating and air conditioning unit on the roof with a tarp because it was leaking, creating a potentially dangerous situation. >> the process of covering the hvac with a tarp, the co from the unit that would only be expelled out in the open air was recirculated in the hvac unit. and then distributed throughout the building. ama: all 14 people who complained of symptoms were treated at the scene and released. dan: thanksgiving is two weeks away. it's time for travelers to commit to their plans and experts are weighing in tonight on flying or driving and when you should take a covid test. ama: a stretch of bay area freeways considered one of the most dangerous roads for

golden in concord. the captain at the wing stop at ygnacio valley road. this video coming into the newsroom where that van was found with a baby inside. the parents are on their way to be reunited with their child. no arrests in the case. in pittsburgh, a one-year-old girl was found safe after the suv she was in was stolen at a restaurant. an autumn wave of covid-19 infections as we turn to the pandemic and this is even in areas with high vaccination rates. those states are adjacent to one another starting from arizona up to minnesota. walgreens says it has given shots more than 200,000 children ages five to 11 with hundreds of thousands of events on the books. austria may soon impose a lockdown for anyone who is not fully vaccinated. cases are spiking and the chancellor says two thirds of the population should not suffer because others were hesitant. dan: we are 14 days away from

thanksgiving and a lot of people are still deciding, maybe you, do we celebrate? do we stay away? your health, as we grapple with the new realities of the pandemic, is important to us as we build a better bay area so tonight, amanda del castillo shows you how some are assessing the risk of travel. amanda: two weeks until thanksgiving, marking the second holiday season under the covid-19 pandemic. we have vaccines and boosters to better our chance of staying healthy but even with the added layer of protection, health experts say there is a level of risk when traveling and gathering. >> it depends on where you are going and how much the infection rates are locally wherever you are traveling and who you are going to be with. amanda: they met assessing risk means asking questions. >> are we ok with getting eight of us to get it? where has everyone been? i you ok? those babies involved. there is a lot of factor in. amanda: the ongoing pandemic has

changed plans. he said they will be avoiding air travel. >> it is a bummer because it is a hours. they could hop on a one hour flight but they feel more comfortable. amanda: for brian wu, he evaluated the risk. he plans to take extra precaution, knowing his grandparents will be waiting on the east coast. >> take advantage of the flexible testing capability on campus to take a covid test every day for the week leading up to my flight to new york. amanda: when he gets back to the bay area, stanford university has published guidance for its students. for the cost that will impact anyone who travels and returns to campus. dr. yvonne malden auto says because people will be coming back from different destinations, safety is still a concern. >> we know that there can be breakthrough infections and most are a few infections are likely to be a symptom attacks so people could accidentally bring back infection into a closed community.

amanda: something to reflect on as you assess your own risk. amanda del castillo. dan: nearly 100,000 pounds of raw chicken patty products are being recalled for contamination. some were sold at trader joe's. chicken patty products sold between august 16 through september 29 may have been contaminated with various materials including bones. so far, there have been no reports of any injury or illness is as a result of the spirit trader joe's products that are subject to recall our chile lime chicken burgers, spinach, feta chicken sliders. ama: a bay area freeway known as one of the most scenic in the nation is deemed the deadliest highway in california for wildlife. the uc davis road of ecology report has named interstate 280 between san bruno and cupertino as the deadliest highway for wild animals. the animal cost for accidents involving wild animals could add up to $6 million in cleanup and damage and could cost up to $200

million to create fences and safe wildlife passages on the deadliest highways throughout the state. >> it is really the worst place in the state and because there are a couple of crossings already underneath 280, then all we have to do is fence those areas that were getting a lot of collisions and we are really going to solve the problem. amanda: black bears and mountain lions are most vulnerable. dan: today of course was veterans day and across the country, people paid tribute to america's veterans. president biden saluted the nation's military veterans in a wreath-laying ceremony as is traditionally the case at arlington national cemetery and in the bay area, there were parades, exhibits, and other celebrations to honor our veterans. >> it is a fine crew. >> i have a big family and this is part of them out here and i have lived in petaluma, born in petaluma all my life. dan: two world war ii veterans,

just a few among the many veterans honored today at the petaluma veterans day parade. this year's theme, welcome home vietnam veterans, including a special tribute to the 15 petaluma men who died in vietnam. and of course, all of us here want to thank every one of our veterans who have served this country so bravely. ama: it was so nice to see those celebrations today. it was a nice day for us. sandhya: it was a perfect day for the parades out there. i want to show you the weather pattern that is going to continue which is a mild to warm one pit live views from san jose to san francisco, looking across the bay from the peak in the east bay. you can see their views are just glorious but there is some rain to be found. just not here. pacific northwest is getting pounded earlier today and they will continue to see some heavy rain as an atmospheric river is aimed right there. so we have a ridge of high pressure deflecting the storm track to our north and we are

left with our dry conditions. on the subject of dry, the last atmospheric river that came through brought minor improvement in the northern portion of the date as they saw several inches of rain. for the rest of us in the bay area, you can see the category breakdown. exceptional drought is now 17%. locally, we still have extreme to exceptional drought across the bay area so let's hope the winter storms that we expect in the coming months will make a dent in that. mild weather today. look at this many 70's across the bay area from santa rosa to san rafael. 69 in the city at 73 in san jose. if you liked it, you will be in luck because we will repeat it tomorrow. numbers in the 50's and the 60's. visibility is poor with dense fog right now in fairfield and santa rosa down to a quarter of a mile so first thing tomorrow morning, 40's and 50's out the door as we head into the lunch hour. you will see 60's and 70's had really nice looking weather. the fog will shrink,

temperatures will rise into the low to mid 70's in our warmest thoughts. i will show you the weekend forecast because it's looking good. mild to warm weather for your saturday. mid-70's inland. mid 60's curbside. still comfortable pair on sunday, temperatures coming down a little bit. here is the stunning view from our emeryville camera. dense in patches. mild to warm days this weekend and we are looking at cooler and cloudier weather as we head into early next week. fog tomorrow morning will be the biggest thing that could slow you down so watch out for that. 40's and 50's on those temperatures. afternoon highs anywhere from 65 in half moon bay all the way to 75 and santa rosa. right around the 60's and the 70's near the bay shoreline as well. here is a look at the accuweather seven-day forecast and it features morning fog, warmer afternoon. paul warmth continuing for the weekend before we take temperatures down just a little bit and increase the cloud cover early next week. that cooling continues really right on through thursday with temperatures below average for
