displaced. the smell of smoke and screams woke them this morning. while others watched as flames shot through the roof. within an hour, both clark county and las vegas fire crews were able to knock down the two-alarm blaze. one person was taken to the hospital for smoke inhalation. a firefighter was also transported to u-m-c with minor injuries -- after a tile fell off the roof and hit him on the head. clark county deputy chief of operationro and two underneath had water damage. one woman that we talked to today, said it was her dog that alerted her to the fire. (( "i actually thought someone was cooking, let's go the other way. and she would not. she pulled me towards the building and started making the strangest yelping noise. so i realized something was wrong i actually called 911 ." )) eight adults and four children were displaced. several other residents were evacuated from nearby condos as a precaution ...

it was kind of hard to breathe. it got to the point where i thought the neighbors house was going to catch on fire too. )) ((michael stevens)) the clark county fire department says the it started in the back of the house... and grew quickly. neighbors in the area described waking up to heavy smoke... and fire crews running inside. it's been just over two months since the riviera's "monaco tower" was imploded in the middle of the night... with lots of fireworks and fanfare. ((paul joncich)) 30- thousand people headed down to laughlin over the weekend... all to float down the river for several hours. it was the 10-th annual "bullhead city river regatta." people from all over inflated their tubes and spent the day in the sun... but the aftermath has people living along the river up in arms. check out this picture mike mcracken sent us... showing all the trash washed up on the shores of the colorado river. you can see beer cans, sunsre littering the beach. we shared this picture on facebook and in no time it had hundreds of comments and shares. several people defended the participants saying the regatta didn't have enough staff to enforce rules. but the overwhelming majority trashed the trashers themselves. you can join the conversation... just go to our 8 news now facebook page./// ((christianne klein)) the rumor mill is really kicking into high gear...
