the olympic winter games in sochi, it still seems like just yesterday when gymnast gabby douglas won our hearts and gold at the 2012 olympics in london. now her life story has been turned into a lifetime movie premiering tomorrow. >> gabby is here with regina king who plays gabby's mom in the movie. let's take a look at what happened when gabby played by imani hakim tells her mom she wants to move to iowa to train with a new coach. >> not going to iowa. do you know how far away that is from here. go look it up on the map. it is over a thousand miles away from here. >> i want to train. >> how would you get there, gabrielle? where would you live? it is impossible. >> it's not. >> you have chutzpah. go look at that one, too. >> don't laugh at me. i'm going to train with him. i don't care what you say. >> i don't care what you say. i don't care. >> yeah. >> i tried watching this, this morning, early and i was in tears within five minutes of this movie. i loved it. i loved it.

really a mother/daughter love story. >> it is. gabby, were you involved in this from the beginning, from get-go. >> i was. me and my mom kept involved. they would send us, like, girls wanted to play us and they brought us like regina and we're, like, yes, yes, regina. >> and you met with the writers as well, too, about making it exactly -- pretty much exactly as it -- you wanted it to be authentic. >> yeah, definitely. >> regina, playing mom you met gabby's real mom who happens to be in the studio today, natalie. how did you go about portraying her, getting her right? >> all of this came about really fast. i didn't get a chance to actually meet natalie face to face. but we got the opportunity to speak on the phone for hours. so it was like we would be on the phone at 3:00 and get off, like, 5:00. i got to make dinner and get back on the phone. and i got a chance to get all of her background, like, natalie in high school.
