for. >> the giants and the a's took to the field for the first time this season back here in the bay area. as nbc bay area, a friendly rivalry took a turn in the parking lot. >> there's always been a healthy rivalry between the a's and the giants, of course. but this weekend, the president of the a's decided to kick it up a notch. according to a tweet yesterday, the price for parking for giants fans was 50 bucks and if you read the bottom of that tweet, there's a quote from a's president, any giants fans who yells go a's at the parking gate, will be charged only $30 to enter the oakland coliseum. at the start of the game today, the parking attendants followed through on those orders. people wearing giants branded clothes were told how they could get a discount. >> you get a discount if you

voice. i don't want to pay extra. >> i don't want to pay extra, dad. >> coming up in the 6:00 hour, full highlights of the game between the giants and the a's. they play each other tomorrow and tuesday before the regular season starts on thursday. not so fast. a group of neighbors in san jose jumped in to detain a driver they say smashed into several parked cars on their street. nbc bay area's marianne favro is live where it happened in san jose. marianne? >> reporter: this went down at 2:00 this morning. a red car was racing down the street going very fast when it plowed into several cars, including this black ford. you can see where the ford was hit so hard, it jumped the curb here and hit this parked car and the back end here is crushed. it didn't end here. neighbors say the driver proceeded to plow into a total of ten vehicles parked here. that was enough to wake them up and they sprang into action.

>> the whole neighborhood was trying to stop him. they were crowded around his car. they opened his door and took him out. we were trying to have him lay there until the authorities came. >> police arrived and questioned the driver. he was later loaded into a stretcher and then into an ambulance where he was taken to a nearby hospital. we reached out to san jose police today, but they have not confirmed if the man was arrested or if he is suspected of drunk driving. neighbors say this happens at least once a month where someone speeds on the street and plows into a parked vehicle. one neighbor says it's a problem he's been dealing with for ten years. now, in this case neighbors say this driver was zigzagging across the street. so not only did he hit cars on one side, but you can see across the street, there's a honda there that has also been hit. i just spoke with a woman a few minutes ago who says she was parked on the very end of the

street and her van received major damage. reporting live in san jose, marianne favro, nbc bay area news. >> thank you for that report. an early morning fire at a san francisco church on palm sunday is under investigation. services at christ church lutheran in the sunset district went on, but they were simplified and moved to the parish hall. smoke was reported before 9:00 this morning. the smoldering fire was put out quickly. three school classrooms were damaged. a preschool was previously there. but the church was in the process of getting a new tenant. the pastor said they have had issues in that area of the building recently. they had to ask a man to leave recently. >> we have had a problem with unauthorized people finding their way into the rooms. you know -- >> for shelter? >> for shelter, yes. part of the problem has been that since they're not used on a

right now. that snow pack has seen a huge boost in the last 30 days. here's how it looked late february. statewide snow pack levels, look at the central sierra. that was 24%. fast forward now up to 65% in the statewide average of 56. some of the gauges up there are showing us that we may have approached 60% statewide. those official numbers will start to come in during the day tomorrow. san jose, partly cloudy skies. chilly. 57 degrees. we may see these numbers flip around by wednesday. climbing to the 70s. in the meantime, breezy. san francisco, 55 degrees. let's show you dublin where we've seen showers around the tri-valley, 580 and 680. we'll take you further to the south. just off to the north of the tesla plant there. fremont, 57 degrees. you see the rain there on the sky camera view. this is how it looks on the storm ranger mobile doppler radar. looking off to the north and east. that line of showers heading

down towards fremont. -- you can see the showers around the east bay hills continue to generally move from north to south. as we approach sunset, again what's left of in is going to try to get into san jose. all areas probably have at least a chance of measurable rainfall the last band of showers leaving from north to south. the futurecast picks up from 7:00 to 8:00 tonight. as it passes the lower peninsula and south bay, the skies clear which could set the stage for patchy frost tomorrow morning. nothing but sunshine through the afternoon tomorrow as temperatures begin the upward climb. so 30s and 40s. watch out for patchy frost. ice on some of the roadways where you see the chilly temperatures in the wind shelter valleys. during the day tomorrow, showers out of the forecast. 7-day forecast shows no more showers for quite some time. mid-60s closer to palo alto and still in the low 60s for now

around san francisco and breezy during the day tomorrow and mid to upper 60s into the north day was we begin to see this cold pattern that kept the snow going moving off towards the east. strong ridge of high pressure. by the time it gets to wednesday, thursday friday could put the highs 10 to 15 degrees above average. the stormgoer is shut as the storms will be moving towards alaska. probably at this point, all the way through april 4th. so that is going to be a dry stretch that follows us for a while. for san francisco, 50s now. 60s tomorrow. should see 70s approach the middle part of the weekend. the inland forecast, by wednesday, thursday, could be approaching 80. i'll throw in this extra time, 7-day forecast for cities around the bay. san jose close to 80. we haven't seen that since february 9th. another stop up to napa. numbers approaching close to 80 as well. another spot for you. the tri-valley towards
