pete, you have been watching it. what are you seeing? >> yeah, that's right, terry. we have folks here organizing in support of the black lives matter movement. you can see the united front. hundreds of people speaking out in light of the events that have taken place here in the city of martinez but i want to go ahead and show you guys video. this is what we were watching. a moment of silence. protests across the country for the past couple of months. that was of course a moment of silence for george floyd. you mentioned the march began at the superior courthouse and martinez in front of that black lives matter mural which of course was defaced on the 4th of july. we'll get to that in a moment. we know that the rally was planned a few weeks ago in response to white supremacy flyers.
they were circulating at downtown martinez. they only added importance for these folks attending today's events. they're here at the waterfront park about the importance of being here. here's what they had to say. >> beyond that. we have people come together and when the marches die down, stick together and help with some policy change because the marches, it's going to fade away but it will go beyond that. >> i hope that it sends a message that martinez doesn't stand for hate and that we believe that black lives matter in the community. >> showing you guys the viral video of the two folks defacing a portion of the city approved black lives matter ont of the c martinez. those two people nicole anderson and david nelson and they are facing vandalism charges from the county as we take you guys back out here live. you can see the crowd gathering here at the waterfront park in martinez. i did hear organizers mention

have to shutdown through at least august 2nd. that's because the county did not improve it's covid numbers over the past couple of days. and that's because the governor added the county to her watch n heyward are enjoying dining outside even though the state has placed alameda county on its watch list because of a recent increase in covid-19
cases. today the county public health department issued this statement saying the magnitude of the change was above what would be expected as a result of the substantial expansion of testing and we have been placed on the state's monitoring list. the surge in cases is being attributed in part to a lack of face coverings and social distancing and because of an increase in infections in front line workers. now once the county is on the state's monitoring list for three straight days, it could be subject to state imposed restrictions and enforcement. outdoor dining was already supposed to be shutdown in alameda county after the county found out late friday it did not have state approval. some cities in the county however allowed businesses to serve outdoors anyway but some people we talk with say they understand the need to take every precaution. >> it's really hard right now. me and my girlfriend, we haven't been on a date in so long.
i miss it, you know but we have to do it. we have to do it. i'd rather be safe than sorry. >> so what's next. on tuesday, the alameda county supervisors are expected to move forward with asking them to give a variance to allow activities such as outdoor dining to continue. but right now it's unclear whether heyward will be able to offer outdoor dining next weekend. it all depends on what the covid cases do. reporting live in hayward, nbc bay area news. >> that's the east bay. in the south bay the countdown is on. some santa clara county businesses scrambling to get ready to reopen. talking about tomorrow. hair and nail salons. gyms, can always resume operations as long as a list of new requirements. the county also setting up a

we had a high of officially 102 degrees. the winds are starting to pick up. that's the heat driven sea breeze as the hot air rises inland and we get the winds pick up tomorrow afternoon. and currently 83 and here's where the ocean air conditioning has been hanging out. san francisco did manage 71 but notice the wind speed now accelerating up to 28 miles per hour so the 60s on the coast and the more moisture marine air hanging around the inner bay and coast that should start to move inland now that the inland wind speeds are picking up but what is really going to drive the cooling is the return of the low clouds and we'll see some of that nor tfor the morning. some fog near the coast. we'll talk about how much cooling you can expect for your monday and the next few days coming up in our forecast. back to you. >> sounds good, thank you. one person is dead and one injured after a fire at a san francisco home. report came at about 11:00 this morning. at a home on the 3,700 block of

>> back out live, sky ranger showing you pictures of what is going on in martinez. a marchand rally going on there. we have been following this for about 90 minutes now. when it started out there are soon to be more people. i believe the number of people at this rally has been thinning. it's been peaceful beginning to end. helicopter pulling out and showing the streets around there. this is all in response to hate crimes in the city. you can see some people, some stragglers going here and there and maybe just going home. some of the problems that these people were addressing including the viral video, two people trying to paint over the city's black lives matter mural. the huge yellow letters right in front of the courthouse there. they were upset about that. they came together, they marched, they stopped, they took knees, they had moments of silence, they are still there at waterfront park and we'll keep
you posted on what happens next. >> now to our making it in the bay series on the housing crisis. it's going to cost you a little bit less right now to live in parts of silicon valley. according to the rental site, rent for one bedroom apartments fell nearly 12% in san francisco, 15% in mountainview. 13 13.5% in menlo park and 15.7% in cupertino. they're seeing an up tick in prices compared to last july. oakland jumping up 4.5% for one bedroom leases. experts say job uncertainty, remote work and lifestyle changes all playing a role in what's perihappening here. >> santa clara county opening three new and free testing sites here. they're all considering pop up sites. they're offering free nasal swab tests and nobody is asking any questions. go get tested. testing available tuesday
through friday, 10:00 until 3:00 in the afternoon and at independence high school. gilroy's pop up site will operate at south county annex from 1:00 to 6:00 in the evening tuesday through friday. also it's going to be open saturday from 9:00 until 2:00. a lot of opportunities to get tested in santa clara county. in oakland, businesses continue doing what they can. they came back today and it had been shutdown because of the pandemic. it's back today. health precautions in place. you put more space between the vendor booths. customers don't grab them themselves. they talk with the vendors and the vendors pick up the produce for them. they have hand sanitizer or hand washing and we have lines tracked out. >> it's open from 9:00 until 2:00 today. that's every sunday from now until further notice.
keep it here. let's get to rob. he is at home. you had air conditioning in your house because you need it, right? >> here in the tri-valley temperatures above 100 degrees today. as you're about to see one of the hottest places, dublin where we're still in the 90s outside. winds out of the west now. up to about 13 miles per hour. temperature up to 102 degrees. 93 with the breeze. and inland too and did get to 71. wind at 28 miles per hour. no sign of fog yet. we should begin to see more than that. across the board it's your summer microclimates. inland it's hotter than we ought to be. 15 to 18 degrees above average. that's a little bit too much by
july standards. 15 to 25 miles per hour and look at the humidity numbers. very dry. the single digits. so as the marine air starts to push back inland coupled with the return of low clouds we should see improvement on the humidity numbers and a big improvement in terps of the daytime highs. as the fog rolls back in, we might see fist or fog mist or f. start the day around the inner bay and monterey bay as well. the coupling of the low clouds. mid 80s around san jose but still near 90 around morgan hill. mid to upper 80s toward
livermore. low 60s for half moon bay or drizzle at times for the morning and san francisco in the mid 60s and northbay temperatures climbing into the 80s for santa rosa and sonoma. so the high pressure that built out of the desert southwest is going to weaken a bit. we're going to see temperatures come down. the next couple of days. the next weekend more clouds on the coast and watching maybe some monsoon moisture trying to come up out of southern arizona. nothing officially yet and we'll see high clouds and a warm up heading toward the next weekend. but nothing too hot. not like we saw this weekend. in the meantime, if you're in the valleys you should notice a sizable drop in the temperatures tomorrow and monday and tuesday and low 90s toward the end of the week. whether it is more for july. the new record high to southern california. it was 121 degrees. it could always be worse. 121 degrees today.
