this is cbs 5 news. the developing, two people are dead, killed in a wrong way crash near loop 101, both drivers before the crash, witnesses told dps said they saw the driver pull up to the circle-k and he seemed drunk. this wrong way accident raises the question of what can be done to stop these crashes and

>> i think it's unrealistic to think there's a way to stop these wrong way crashes with all of the impaired drivers out there but state officials are going to give it their best shot starting with these wrong way do not enter signs along the off-ramps. >> the freeways are getting more dangerous. >> you don't know what is going to happen from one moment the next. >> early this morning, another deadly crash caused by a wrong way driver, 245 wrong way accidents in 10 years. and that resulted in 91 fatalities. the high number prompted arizona's department of public safety to put up oversized wrong way and do not enter signs along freeway off ramps, but it's not always enough
