average today of 66. 91 and warmer into livermore and 82 in san jose. we'll have more on your weather coming up. let's check the roads with elizabeth. thanks, lawrence. this time we are going to check the drive along the peninsula specifically around sfo. there is roadwork northbound so just a heads up various lanes blocked. we are seeing a few slow sensors in the southbound direction, as well. so all the approaches to the bay bridge if you are driving through the east bay, highway 24, looks great all the way through the caldecott and no delays so far on 580 or highway 13. westbound 580 from the altamont pass just beginning to see our first delays now coming out of tracy and continuing to about north flynn. bart now has 21 trains all running on time. ace train number one also reporting no delay. that's your latest "timesaver traffic." back to you. >> thank you. developing news out of santa clara this morning. we're at the scene of a police investigation near reed's indoor gun range. you're looking live at this. police say they received a

silent alarm from that location. when officers showed up, they saw three people trying to flee the scene. police say the suspects were throwing guns and ammo out of their car window. all three people were arrested. that's all we know at this point. but as we gather more information, we'll let you know. kpix 5 reporter anne makovec is live in mobile5 with a first-of-its-kind crackdown to reduce crashes on i-80. >> reporter: i am here on mobile5. we are on i-80 eastbound right now. [ signal breakup ] >> we are having trouble with her signal so we'll check on that and get back to anne later this morning. a driver could be facing reckless driving and other charges after a series of crashes in san francisco yesterday afternoon. the last collision in the alamo square area sent four people to the hospital including the driver.

witnesses tell us she hit other cars sped down hayes street and ran a stop sign before the crash. police don't think drinking was involved. oakland's police chief explains why his department was caught off guard when protestors reacted to the george zimmerman acquittal earlier this month. chief sean whent told the city council it was an intelligence failure. dozens of protestors did this. they broke windows. they also bashed in windows, caused other damage to downtown businesses and the chief says they expected a big protest the day after the verdict was announced but not that night. >> we had a plan pour responding. however, when all the information that we were getting was all contrary to bringing people in that night the decision was made to bring them in the next night. >> reporter: you didn't anticipate any type of protest based on a verdict saturday afternoon? >> well, there's always the possibility that could happen and in behind side i would say we would do things differently. >> the chief says overtime for officers during the vandalism

will cost hundreds of thousands of dollars. developing news out of the gulf of mexico. we're learning more about a fire that started on a blown- out gas rig. the well is about 60 miles southwest of grand isle, louisiana. this is what the rig looked like yesterday. we'll take a look at this picture with natural gas. you can see it spewing out of it. 44 workers were evacuated. no one was injured. the company, wild well control, is assessing how to bring the well under control. according to the the bureau of safety environmental enforcement only gas is flowing from the well, not oil. three years ago, an oil rig exploded in the gulf. it was the worst offshore disaster the u.s. has ever seen. deja vu for former new york congressman anthony weiner apologizing again for more explicit photos and messages. gossip website the dirty exposed other inappropriate online relationships. this time with a 22-year-old. weiner reportedly promised her many things including a job at

kpix 5 reporter anne makovec reports from mobile5 on i-80. >> reporter: we just crossed intersection of 4 light traffic eastbound, more going westbound as you might imagine. what's also going on here on the highway for the next week is a campaign called the i-80 challenge. that is meaning a crackdown on a number of offenses with the goal to have zero fatalities on this highway between now and this time next week. that is a lofty goal because there's 2900 miles of i-80 from here in california all the way to new york so we have 10 state highway patrol agencies participating in this crackdown, looking for speeding, distracted driving, failure to signal, following too closely, not wearing a seatbelt, anything that could lead to a fatality.

to enter the building. police are in the process of determining if the guns have been located. all suspects have been arrested and are in police custody. this happened at reed's indoor range just off of highway 101. according to the business's website it is the largest indoor shooting range in the bay area. and santa clara police say around 3:30 this morning three suspects tried to break in and in doing so, they set off a silent alarm. they threw guns and ammo presumably stolen from the range. they tried to flee on foot and they were arrested by police. three people are in custody. two men and one woman. we have shot video from the

inside. live in santa clara, cate caugiran, kpix 5. our mobile5 technology is taking us on i-80 this morning. kpix 5 reporter cate caugiran -- kpix 5 reporter anne makovec has more on the national crackdown. >> reporter: we just saw a chp officer on a motorcycle pass us and that's part of a crackdown that's going to be going on because they are on the lookout for a number of driving offenses. it's called the i-80 challenge and the goal is to have zero fatalities on i-80 between now and this time next week. the number of fatalities goes up during the summer months. they are looking for violations that causes preventable deaths, speeding, failing to signal, following too closely, not wearing a seatbelt. when we're talking i-80 it's

not just here in california. there are 2900 miles of i-80 between here in california and new york. so there are 10 state highway patrol agents participating in this challenge and hope to make n impact. >> still need to be reminded to set down the phone, to avoid the distractions, to slow down to increase the following distance and that's what this campaign is targeted to do. >> reporter: be on the lookout for the officers. they will be out in full force hoping to accomplish this goal of zero fatalities. anne makovec, kpix 5. two more alleged victims are linked to a daycare worker charged with sex crimes. detectives say at least two more girls ages 5 and 7 have

come forward saying 20-year-old nicholas [ indiscernible ] sexually abused them. the man was arrested mid-july on allegations of sexual contact with a six-year-old girl and sexual assault of a teenaged girl. san jose high school district plans to sue the testing group for throwing out scores. ets invalidated ap scores because of improper seating during the test. a community meeting will be held at 7 p.m. at mills high school. a disruption cleared richmond city council meeting. officers escorted people out. they didn't arrest anybody. it still isn't clear what prompted the disruption. the minimum wage in

berkeley could be going up. berkeley's labor commission meets today to talk about it. it's recommending an increase from $8 an hour to $10.55. some restaurants want exemptions for employees who can earn hundreds a day in tips. >> right now we pay servers $8 an hour. okay? but they are the highest wage earners in the restaurant. there's 44 states in the union that have a tipped wage law where you don't have to pay tipped employees the full minimum wage. if you go to new york city, for example, or the state of new york, you pay your servers $2.15 an hour. >> some employers say they would have to cut back on benefit if the minimum wage goes up. soon you'll be able to enjoy the great outdoors in san francisco and have free wi-fi service at the same time. the plan is expected to be announced today. google plans to bring wireless
