(ad-lib off countdown clock) just hours away kick off the big day is finally here..super bowl sunday . february seve i'm frank mallicoat. i'm michelle griego. for the next half hour we'll fill you in on everything y need to know about the game today. anne makovec is live in san francisco, where dozens of s will take fans to levi's stadium. but we start with kelly in santa clara. mark, you're at one of the most elaborate super bowl tailga. and we hear a bay area celey chef is whipping up a mouth-watering menu. this is some high-end stuff. they are calling this the

players super bowl tailgate. i'm told it will be wall tol celebrities and current nfl players when doors open lat this morning. crews are setting up right now. now brace yourself --- ticks for this tailgate cost a whopping 700 dollars. but c out what you get. this pavilion--- in the parking t of the hyatt hotel----will filled with plush couches a large screen t-vs so the celebrities can watch all t pre-game coverage on cbs. there's an open bar. it s all you can eat. sports broadcaster erin andrews is emceeing this tailgate. and celebrity chef and bay area native guy fieri drew up the menu. erin: maybe 25 nfl players e going to show up. i'm goingo be interviewing them throug the tailgate (5 seconds) guy fieri: .we've got some of t best chefs in the country. we've got uh. erin andrews: just got goosebumps.. guy f: aaron may, g garvin, beau macmillan and myself and we have. i mean we're taking or the park now.we're throwing tailgate that everybody sayy i want to go to a great tailgate. this is your great tailgate. ya, let's talk about the me. they'll be feeding 15- hundd tailgaters with a steak station....jambalaya....naco bar...and s'mores pie for desert. that's just a samplf the food. and a cool little perk with ticket. guests will be arri at 10-30 this morning in pre shuttles.... along with a pe escort. so certainly first s treatment here at the playe super bowl tailgate. hey, mark, we see a lot of sports memorabilia behind y. what's that for?

sporting world's biggest anl game. chopper 5 was over levi's stadium in santa clara... as crews touched-up the super bowl 50 logo on the field last nigh earlier the teams went throh their final walk- throughs.. look closely and you can see broncos quarterback peyton manning warming up. he's be battling injuries and has hd that this may be his last g ((justin martinez/broncos f: "we just need four more quas out of peyton manning. and whatever happens after that, we'll support him.")) after the walk through.. the panthers released this group photo... performing quarter, cam newton's, signature "dab."

san francisco. it happened around 9-30 last night near 9-th and brannan s. this is the cha three people are dead after a police chase ended in a fiery crash in san francisco. this happened around 9:30 last night in your night and brannon street. this is the wreckage. investigators say a chp officer spotted the car doing doughnuts at fifth and bryant. when the officer tried to pull the driver over, the driver sped away. the officer called off the chase. moments later, the car slammed into a taxi and burst into

matthews of course could have easily gotten a free ticket. but he is not a football fan. and is mainly just focused on the economics of the game. so this morning, matthews will go to the stadium to meet the nfl commissioner roger goodell and then will go home and watch it right here on channel 5. >> and two icons from bay area sports history have been chosen for the nfl hall of fame. ken stabler and eddie debartolo are both hall of fame bound. many thought stabler and eddie debartolo should have already been in trying. but the long-awaited call finally came yesterday for both. and stabler was elected six month after he died at age 69. he played 10 years in oakland leading the team to the first super bowl title in 1977. eddie debartolo on the 49ers from 1977 until 2000. the team win nine all the franchise super bowl during his ownership. the timing of the selections with the super bowl in the bay area is coincidental. but it made it even better for

eddie debartolo and his 49ers. >> yes. too bad he is not with us anymore. it would have been cool. a lifelong dream to be a pro football player and meet -- did not turn out for a local man. >> a debilitating injury kept him from this. >> people often come to gary wanting to learn one thing but they end up pursuing many skills. >> what we want to have is the best opportunity to help someone accomplish goals. >> 5000 people a month come to the nonprofit center for human enhancement. gary originally started this center in his home in 1974. the former stanford wide receiver spent years recovering from a football injury. and athletes show up at his house and he would coach them on injury prevention. and since he was also a

professional musician, gary would teach music. >> it was a very much -- very much of a wild west show. >> more than 20 years later, gary moved to the 40,000 square-foot warehouse. at first the giant rental space did not feel quite right. >> it was too intimidating. >> to bring that sense of warmth and joy from his home, gary actually ripped out the front of his house and installed it right here at the center. >> you have the spirit as if you are walking into a home. you feel at home right away. >> today students ages two up to 92, come to the center with a variety of disabilities, from olympic athletes, to musicians. some received scholarships. they use creative arts, and perform community service projects. >> it is about what do you want to do. it does not matter if they are good, bad or whatever. it is about what brings you joy. >> students like mark also

>> welcome to the "super bowl today" update. it will be the carolina panthers and the denver broncos coming your way in super bowl 50 as we get set for the big game. hello, everyone, i'm james brown here in santa clara, along with my teammates bart scott and boomer esiason. story lines galore but none bigger than the quarterback matchup. boomer: none bigger than peyton manning. five-time nfl m.v.p. he's had a great week of practice. gary kubiak, his head coach says he hasn't looked this good since the beginning of the season. and the other thing, it's 18 years of legacy. this could be his last game and if he does win it, bart, that will make 200 victories as the starting quarterback over those 18 years. bart: that is a big if. and on the other side on the sideline is the baddest
