[ speaking spanish ] >> we have the return of the fog along the coast. yesterday at noon we were talking about this. we had a shift in the wind and everyone started to go downhill as far as the temperatures are concerned and that's it right there. that's your foggy start over the golden gate bridge. we have temperatures currently in the 40s in santa rosa, 50s in oakland and san francisco. very mild inland. we topped off in the mid-90s yesterday. notice that west-southwest wind 12 in san francisco, it's that westerly that will cool us down at the coast today into the

60s. 60s common around the bay down from the 80s. 70s around the peninsula today. 70s and 80s inland. we'll talk more about your thursday and friday forecasts coming up but here's jaclyn. good morning. and here we'll begin with a live look at the golden gate bridge. i promise it's there. it's foggy there. be careful behind the wheel this morning on the roads. things at the limit in both directions on 101. a crash southbound 680 right to 580 there on that connector ramp. so please be careful. no lanes blocked. live look at the dublin camera at the 580/680 corridor traffic at the limit. new this morning authorities say three people died in shootings in san jose. one involved a police officer.

officers were called to a home on laura valle lane. when they arrived they found two victims. it's unclear what happened, but the officer then shot and killed a man who was inside the home. the officer is on leave while authorities investigate. a deadly police shooting shut down market street in san francisco for hours after a subway sandwich fight. joe vazquez has more on the shooting near westfield mall. >> reporter: a man wearing a subway uniform. san francisco police officers may have saved his life at 11:30 a.m. inside the subway. a man with a knife began arguing about a sandwich as two cops arrived to help witnesses say the assailant began stabbing the employee then refused to drop his knife. >> there was yelling back and forth like oh, i'm doing this. i'm not even doing it. and then get on the ground.

get on the ground. get on the ground. then pow, pow, i'm here in the corner. >> during the course of the intervening one officer discharged a firearm. >> reporter: the knife-wielding man died of his gunshot wounds. jane kim tells kpix 5 police told her the victim was an asian male an employee at subway. the chief is reluctant to call his officers heroes this early in the investigation. >> i don't have anything to add to the facts or any comment. i think that would be inappropriate at this time. i think we all should be pleased that the individual that was being attacked is still alive and is expected to survive. >> joe vazquez, kpix 5. >> the house is set to vote on the new republican healthcare bill this morning after gop leaders say they have gotten enough support to pass it. the plan would repeal and replace obamacare. republicans have added an amendment to help those with pre-existing conditions.

it will take $8 billion over 5 years for coverage. [ yelling ] >> let's be optimistic about life. >> house democrats blasted the decision to call a vote without a new projection from the congressional budget office. the nonpartisan cbo estimated that the last version of the bill would result in 24 million fewer people with insurance by 2026. house minority leader nancy pelosi had this response: protections, a c age tax, and st rom medicare." oakland mayor libb as anged her mind - on how spend money coming i m the soda tax. sing the oakland mayor libby schaaf has changed her mind on how to spend money coming in from the soda tax. schaaf had suggested using the funds to clothes budget deficit of the city but -- to close the budget deficit of the city but many complained saying it wasn't what voters were product. the money was originally intended to fight childhood obesity and soda drinking.

now she is reversed her plan. the city council will meet this month to discuss closing the deficit. exciting news for skiers and boarders. squaw valley announced it's staying open late. it will be open past the 4th of july holiday for weekend skiing. it will be the longest season ever. for now it's still open 7 days a week. it's always fun to go down and scream. >> alpine meadows will be open, as well. and after the 4th of july, it's every saturday. but boy, it's the first time ever. >> yeah. >> the longest season ever. i thought this heat wave would go on forever. we have good news if you are looking for relief to beat the heat. right now this is it. it is the return of the fog. the jury in the sierra lamar murder trial is expected to start deliberations today. antolin garcia-torres is accused of killing the 15-year- old nearly five years ago. yesterday, defense attorneys gave the jury a top 10 list of why they should find him not guilty. it included calm demeanor, no murder weapon, no witnesses, no crime scene, no cause of death and the fact that lamar is still a missing person. >> the defense did a good job of relating to the jury in what is a very difficult case when you talk about the kidnapping and murder of a teenager. >> the defense also put together a bucket of shame. he placed one in front of the jury for every piece of what he called weak evidence. the prosecution will get one more chance at rebuttal. the jury will get the case to begin deliberations this afternoon. in san leandro, police are searching for the person who stole a car that had a family's scottish terrier inside. kpix 5's andria borba shows us

why they are working so hard to see the dog again. >> reporter: inside maria perez's san leandro home, her dog koda's water bowl sets empty. >> he means a lot to us. we love him a lot. >> reporter: it was april 22 when maria's eldest daughter took their dog seen here in happier times on snapchat for a ride in their 1994 honda accord one of the most stolen cars in the bay area. it only took minutes. and the car and dog were gone. the car theft was caught on surveillance video here at san leandro's marina square shopping center. this is a still photo of the car implicated in the theft. san leandro police are looking for the car while the perezes are putting up flyers and a facebook page hunting for the 13-year-old scottish terrier. >> to be honest, my car was the second thing i thought. it was more koda.

it was just devastating knowing how he is, where -- not knowing where he is, treating him right. he is our family. >> reporter: koda needs daily medication and isn't healthy. >> if he doesn't take the medication, he probably will be dead because he was very, very sick a couple of months ago and he was very sick like three days in the hospital. >> reporter: donations are pouring in for a reward for koda's safe return. it's up to $800. meanwhile, maria and her daughter hold out hope their dog will return home. >> it just breaks our heart to know who has him, if it's treating him like the way we treat him. >> reporter: in san leandro, andria borba, kpix 5. time now 4:40. a bay area community is mourning the loss of a teenager who was hit and killed by a freight train. how the boy is being remembered. >> plus, commercial air travel seems to be getting more frustrating by the day. but one bay area company is offering a new alternative. ,,,,

we're told: the bus hit and killed a man.. who was investigators are looking into a deadly accident involving a golden gate transit bus. the bus hit and killed a man who was walking on sir francis drake in san anselmo around 9 p.m. last night. the only information we have about the victim is that he was in his 20s. no word on what led up to the crash. in san lorenzo investigators are trying to figure out what happened in the moments before a teenaged boy was killed by an oncoming freight train. the 16-year-old was riding his bike to school near the tracks on grant and railroad avenues when he was struck. he was only about a block away from his school kiet collegiate when the crash happened. grief counselors helped students cope with the tragedy on campus. the teen as prince palisade's principal said he was an honor roll student and well liked. >> he will be missed and we're

heartbroken. everything is inclusive. >> reporter: he says flying fewer passengers out of under used airports helps to keep costs competitive with commercial carriers and jetsuite x is not alone. there are a growing number of public charter startups on the east coast and several pricier membership-based airlines out west. >> it's more common between airports not well served or communities with a larger population base. >> reporter: peter greenberg says the startups generally don't nickel and dime like commercial carriers which have been increasing fares on their short haul flights. can you see this cutting into the commercial market? >> the only time the commercial airlines will pay attention to these startups is if the startups gain frequency. >> reporter: he says the biggest drawback to public charters, limited flights. jetsuite x only offers two daily between concord, burbank and vegas and the most popular route the weekend roundtrip to vegas fills up fast and costs more which does have some concerned the best kept secret in air travel may not stay that

way for long. >> higher prices are going to happen. >> please don't put this on the air. l.a.x. last month. cell phone video captured it on the plane. >> have you all off the flight or we're going to [ indiscernible ] the whole aircraft and [ indiscernible ] >> we're getting kicked off this flight? >> ready, one -- >> reporter: brian was flying home with his wife, son and daughter after a family vacation. the couple bought three seats, one for each adult and one for their 18-year-old son who at the last minute took an earlier flight home. their young children were initially going to sit on their lap but the couple thought they could keep the third seat and put one of the babies in the car seat. >> i told you at the beginning -- [ indiscernible ] >> reporter: an airline representative told him because his oldest son was not using the ticket they needed to give the seat to another passenger. he said it was because the flight was overbooked. >> we never thought it would be to the point where they are taking us off the flight and as

we're leaving there's four or five passengers waiting for our seat. the bottom line is they oversold the flight. >> reporter: we reached out to delta to find out what happened. they didn't confirm overbooking but said: not only did they lose the seats without the refund, they had to get a hotel and buy three more tickets on another airline the next day. he says he doesn't want money back. he just wants delta airlines to apologize. in orange county, stacey butler, kpix 5. >> growing tension between san francisco residents and i former oakland mayor over a marijuana dispensary. jean quan and her husband hoping to set up shop in the outer sunset but many residents are pushing back saying that they don't want it in their neighborhoods. the quans insist their plan for a dispensary has received more than 1,000 letters of support. >> we're going to continue to
