i am anne makovec in for len. >> i am amanda starrantino. we are waking up to a weekend the bay area has been waiting for all year from outside lands to nervous parents ready to take their kids trick or treating again. we have live team coverage with what you need to know on this busy weekend. we begin with justin andrews and final preps underway for outside lands. it's a little early but this is going to change dramatically, the scene behind you, in a few hours. >> reporter: absolutely. it is early, so early we can't even get inside the gates. but the fencing, oh yeah, it's right behind me, a clear sign that they are ready to welcome the festival goers. it was canceled last year because of covid concerns. it's a good line up. the feival isold out, expecting about 70,000 each day. we are talking today, tomorrow, sunday. if you are inthis area this

weekend, have some patience. there are new vendors, almost 40 additions to the food options. a lot of them say the industry needs it because they need extra support because many were shut down because of covid. line up is huge with vampire weekend, lizzo, glass animals, young thug and a lot more performances. people who live in the neighborhood and have been for decades, they say they are ready for the festival to be back. >> it's a lot of joy after a long time of being cooped up. >> it's a 72 hour exciting event. obviously there is a trade off with not having park access but i think it is an important trade off. >> reporter: there were fears with the rainfalls last week. they thought it would basically dampen the festival. but they are ready to get things underway and ready to

have a good weekend. it all kicks off today. >> sounds like fun. thanks. let's turn to mary lee with the weekend weather. are the festival goers going to have a bundle up or will they be able to dress however they want this. you can dress however you want but i think it will be good to bring that jacket because you will likely need it. tonight, low 60s, partly cloudy and breezy. saturday and sunday, upper 50s. so it gets chillier for halloween as well. it is still looking good for our weekend ahead as we look to today. we are going to see at least partly cloudy skies, more clouds streaming in, temperatures slightly cooler compared to yesterday but mild and pleasant, around where we should be. mid to upper 60s around the bay, highs inland in the low to mid 70s this afternoon. we'll talk more about what you can expect for that weekend forecast. let's check with gianna for a look at traffic and how to

navigate our busy weekend. >> if you are not going to outside lands, stay awith a from golden gate park. it will be busy with a lot of closures. street closures will be in effect for parts of sun set as you work near godden gate park. closures will be in effect, shut down through the weekend. bikes have access to limited areas. parking will be limited. using public transit is probably the easiest way to get to outside lands. extra and express service, take bart and transfer to muni. that will get you into san francisco. ride share and buses. if you plan on sharing ride, northside of irving is where pick up and drop offs are. a lot of folks will be headed out there this weekend. plus you have halloween as well. pack your patience if you are headed to outside lands. it is halloween and experts say it is safe for kids to trick or treat as long as you

union says as much as 20% of fire companies could close. police force could be affected. about a quarter of officers still have not gotten the shot. scary moments at l.a.x., reports of active shooter grounded flights and sent hundreds of travelers running out of the terminal and on to the tarmac last night. airport officials got a report of somebody with a gun in terminal one around 7:30. no shots were fired and no weapons were recovered. one person was detained but haven't given out more information on the person. airport operations are now back to normal. that incident comes 24 hours after an attack on a flight attendant in mid air. a live look at sfo, there is now a call for the most powerful transportation agency in the country to take action. the suspect attacked an american airlines flight attendant wednesday. that person is now banned from the airline. he punched her twice and broke her nose.

>> reporter: i am justin andrews live at golden gate park. we are hours from people flooding grounds here to get ready to kick off this three day music festival at outside lands. yes, it is making a come back. it couldn't happen last year because of covid-19. all the stages are set and ready to welcome performers. the festival is sold out, expected to pull 70,000 people each day through sunday. if you are in this area this weekend, make sure you have some patience. there are new vendors and some of the performers include lizzo, glass animals, vampire weekend, young thug. i mentioned some tickets available online for $44. that was just the shuttle. actual general admission is 750 bucks. yikes, my bad, that is a big

difference. back to you. >> reporter: i am joycelyn moran live in livermore where a monster mash dance party will be happening. take a look at video from last night. that's the monster mash dance party that happened there. if you didn't have a chance to do so, you will have a chance tonight and tomorrow. it's happening between 7:00 and 8:30 p.m. make sure you bring your costumes. last night families were having fun. last year there were more restrictions and this time health experts say it is safe to trick or treat as long as you are taking health safety measures. they recommend not celebrating indoors and staying outdoors as much as you can and second wearing the face coverings if going trick or treating and handing out candy. you know those scary masks with the costumes? make sure you still have the face coverings that protect you from covid-19 and bring those
