with us. it is january 21. i am anne makovec in for len. >> it is friday. i am amanda starrantino. let's get a check of our weather forecast with mary lee. it's a little windy today. for sure. a blustery day ahead. i will be tracking strong winds picking up with dry offshore northerly winds kicking up. we have wind advisories that will be in effect for most of the bay area starting at 7:00 a.m. for locations highlighted in gold. winds will be gusting up to possibly 50 to 55 miles per hour. we have high wind warnings highlighted in red for the north bay mountains with winds gusting up to 60 to possibly 70 miles per hour. watch for downed trees and power outages with the strong winds. something else i am watching, it's not as foggy compared to yesterday. you can see the golden gate bridge as we start our day. though there is patchy fog for parts of the north bay. temperature wise we are in the 30s for santa rosa area, 40s concord, oakland, as well as

livermore san jose, low 50s in san francisco. as we head through the day we are looking at walking through the day in san francisco, plenty sunshine, low to mid 60s this afternoon but windy conditions, tracking strong winds. also for oakland, temps in 60s with wind kicking up and for the san jose area, mid 60s this afternoon, sunny and warm and tracking strong winds. i will let you know when we will see strongest winds today into tomorrow coming up. today we are going to be hearing more details on a new bill that will let teenagers get the covid vaccine without their parents' consent. state senator scott wiener just introduced the legislation. >> justin andrews is live in san francisco breaking down the proposal that can get a lot of people talking. >> reporter: it would allow a 12-year-old, a minor, 12 years or older, to get this covid shot without their parents

needing to sign off. this could be one that could be controversial. it is permissive though, not a mandate.. the senator said widespread misinformation has caused parents to deny their children access. there are about 1 million people between ages 12 and 17 who have not gotten the shot because their parents oppose or haven't taken them to get it. he argues california allows those 12 and up to get certain vaccines and treatments like hpv and hepatitis b vaccines without parents' consent and says this should be no different. he will be holding a press conference at 9:30. we'll certainly let you know what unfolds there. if you want to see golden state warriors play at the chase center, you are going to need a booster shot. >> joycelyn moran joins us with how long fans have to prepare

for the new rules. i am sure some are scrambling. >> reporter: you've still got sometime. warriors are second in the western conference, klay thompson is back, an exciting time to see them play. you will want to make sure you are prepared. starting february 1, you will need to show you are boosted. if you got pfizer or moderna, you have three doses. if you have johnson & johnson, that means two doses. this applies to those 16 and older and those 12 to 15, you have a little bit more time. you have to show proof of boosters starting march 1. you have to be boosted at least one week before you attend an event at the chase center. this is from san francisco department of public health for mega events over 500 people. dr. rutherford with ucsf says it's the right move and some fans are on board with it. >> i think it is absolutely, positively something that you have to have to be protected. >> it's a sense of feeling

happening today, vice president kamala harris is going to make a stop in southern california. she's set to announce that the state is going to get $600 million in federal funds to recover from and prepare for wildfires, that money coming from recently passed infrastructure bills. last year's wildfire season was

among worse in california history scorching nearly 2.6 million acres. pge days from ending a five year felony probation over deadly san bruno explosion. yesterday a federal judge tore into the utility company saying pge has gone on a crime spree and will emerge from probation as, quote, a continuing menace to california. he is not mincing words. in an eight page report the u.s. district judge also wrote while on probation pge has had at least 31 wildfires burned nearly 1.5 million acres, 93,956 structures and killed 113 californians. the judge has over seen pge's probation since conviction for the 2010 pipeline explosion in san bruno. eight people were killed in the blast. probation term is set to expire on january 25. pge responding to the judge's

harsh comments saying in part it has become a fundamentally safer company over the course of our probation. the utility also acknowledged it has more work to do. the czu lightning complex fires devastated much of the santa cruz mountains. that includes thousands of acres the red woods. now tens of thousands of seed links are being planted. in 2020 the fire burned or damaged 97% of the trees in the area. a year and a half later the forest has begun to bounce back. but mother nature needs a little help. this week, save the red woods league is embarking on modern day johnny apple seed mission. >> you can see there is a red wood islet here and a red wood islet here. between the two red woods it is all ten oak which have kind of grown in and kept these different red wood groves separated from each other. it's harder for new red wood

to light conditions. again as we head through the afternoon, i will be watching winds kick up for us. temperatures, 40s concord, oakland, livermore, san jose, low 50s san francisco, a cold 35 degrees in santa rosa. now, not as foggy as yesterday morning but still dealing with patchy dense fog for parts of the north bay, down to near zero for petaluma, three quarters of a mile for santa rosa and also napa as we start our day. through the afternoon, plenty sunshine, warm temperatures and really tracking the winds. for the coast, and the bay, inland, we will be in the 60s this afternoon. satisfy are view, a strong pressure gradient setting up with that ridge of high pressure over the pacific and low pressure system over the great basin. we have the two features so close together, we have the strong winds, offshore winds. we had a lot of rain last month in december so not really looking at high fire danger but watching those winds this

satellite and radar view, the reason why we have that strong pressure gradient developing is because of this ridge of high pressure in the pacific and this low pressure system over great basin with weather features so close together we are looking at gusty offshore winds, those northerly winds. the good news, we did have all the rain last month in december and that's the reason why our fire danger is not high but it is still something we are watching as we head through this afternoon. the winds will be picking up, those winds out of the north, so looking at winds gusting up to 20 to 30 to 40 miles per hour. again, with that wind advisory, could see winds gusting up to 50 to 55, higher elevations, gusts up to 60 to 70 in the mountains. tomorrow we are looking at the winds easing by tomorrow afternoon but still windy especially in higher elevations tomorrow morning. today we are looking at highs generally in the 60s, above
