shooting debris into the crowd. the death toll stands at 3 with 50 people injured. a plane crashed into the grand stands. happened during the air race. kron 4's reggie kumar has more. >> reporter: 1s of miles on hour, officials say the p-51 mustang was having mechanical problems and the pilot, jimmy leeward lost control of the aircraft. >> all of his medical records were up to date, spot on. he was a very experienced pilot. >> reporter: we slowed down the video as it nosed dive into the stands. witnesses describe what they saw. >> something must have broke. a couple. it wobbled and it came up and

he started heading towards the stands, he will going to try fly over the stands to get away and the plane turned hard and when it started coming down looked like he was pulling hard to get it as far away as possible. >> going up, above vertical, gets twisted and turned and wam! and it was all brown smoke. >> i saw a lot of bloody people. people standing in shock looking around. they came over the loud speaker and asked people to don't come down here, but don't leave. stay where you are and turn your children away from it because it was a horrific site with lots of blood and lots of very cat trophic injuries. >> reporter: emergency responders rushed to help people. there was debris everywhere. this is what the p-51 mustang looked like before the crash.

you are looking at a live picture where police believe a shooting suspect may be hiding out. a suspect walked up to a man at a gas station, shot him and then stole his car. you are looking at video from that scene. the person who was shot is expected to survive. a few hours after the first shooting police believe the same suspect drove to a shopping center. it is there that police say the man hijacked a woman's car and police believe she was kidnapped. we will keep you up to date on this story. new tonight at 11:00, san bruno city official say that crated created by the gas line explosion will be filled in. this was the scene last year when 8 people were killed and

. a look at other top stories around the bay area today. >> reporter: in the past week three-line students have been involved in gun incidents. three suspects in each one of the cases has been arrested but a community meeting will be held on monday. reporting live, jr stone, kron 4 news. >> reporter: antioch, copper thieves struck this church thursday morning. they broke into this box, cut the power and pulled out 500 yards of wiring. according to the church, this is the fourth time in two months thieves took copper from the building. they are looking at putting up fences, burring their piping.

charles clifford, kron 4 news. >> reporter: in the east bay, search efforts underway at a park in the disappearance of michelle le. 50 searches went on friday in the hopes of finding michelle le. this is the first search since giselle esteban was arrested last week. today searches could be spotted throughout the park. searching wooded areas and it will continue on saturday. kaiser permanente medical center is bracing for a lot of commotion. a strike is planned by the national union across northern california. the california nurses association will also strike in sympathy in the cause. the action starts on the 21 and runs through the 23. officials released a statement
