there since may. 4th months. -- four months. it was important for michelle le's family and police. the family needed to know what happened to michelle le and police needed a body to build a case against a murder. giselle esteban. police knew the body was the big break. they spent 24 hours where the body was located, looking and collecting evidence. >> i would equate it to a dig, we have people on their hands and knees and bigging around the remains and they will do the best they can to pull the remains out as one whole movement. >> reporter: a volunteer searcher found the body saturday morning. it was located 15 feet off of a

dirt road in alameda county. police arrested michelle le's former friend giselle esteban on september 7. they say she killed michelle le in may. she is 7 months pregnant. she did not enter a plea this morning and will return to court next week. they need time to figure out who will represent her in the murder case. >> reporter: michelle le's family released a statement saying they want to thank the police for their hard work. they didn't talk ability the body being michelle le. but you can imagine how they are feeling. they tried hard to locate michelle le. saturday with the search the family put up to look for michelle le. live da lin, kron 4 news. earlier today we talked to a legal analyst about how

suspect got away. kron 4's jr stone have the latest. >> reporter: monday night officers met with those who live in the north beach area ask they defended the officer involved shooting saying the suspect was armed with a pistol, loaded with 22 rounds. they met here behind me. the chief spoke tonight. many live here gave their opinions as well. the chief said officers saw drug deal going down and the suspect took off running and turned and pointing a gun at them. one officer fired one round that injured two other people involve. it hit a woman and a man. those in the community spoke about the incident. >> i want to find out why it's the by standers being hit and criminal is not being hit.
