were on strike. kaiser nurses were allowed back on the job the following day but sutter and childrens hospital nurses were not as replacements were given five day contracts. the recent death of a patient at a hospital in oakland while replacement nurses were on duty have the returning nurses even more concerned about the lockout. this is a 66 year-old judith was giving in the wrong dose of medication and died early saturday morning. local organizations have launched investigations including the california department public health and the state medical board. agencies could issue fines or pull licenses. it is too soon to say whether or not this case could be classified as criminal we were told the replacement ours was credentialed to provide care to cancer patients. >> in controversial big sale

we are seeing an early back up in connection with this crash in the southbound direction. no other details. just reported by the chp. the drive time continues to build, but could be looking at the back of the rich as the macarthur maze. look at the 880 approach. it is backed up to the top of the ramp. drive times are 16-80 minutes for the westbound bay bridge. the san mateo bridge has been a problem free all morning. no delays across the

the cna and walked out of three separate hospital groups, 23,000 in all. the vast majority went back to work the next day. those were at kaiser. at supper and children's hospital, they had hired replacement workers on the five big contract that was the nurses a boost were on strike or lockout.-the nurses who were on strike were locked out. we have a statement released ss, i want to thank the care givers that chose to work during the strike and welcome back nurses and other employees who chose to participate in this strike. we spoke was and nurses as they were going back to work and this was their comment. >> we gave them notice of when they strike up a hospital retaliated and we were locked out for five days.

the 80 approach is backed up at least to the top of the ramp. it is a typically slow bay bridge ride. the san mateo, a nice alternate, no problems there. a smooth commute heading towards foster city in coming out of paper with a 15 minute drive time including the toll plaza and the drive across the span to foster city blvd.. the golden gate bridge traffic still looks good all the volume is pretty heavy for this help them ride. there are no delays. remember, reduced speeds of 45 mi. per hour. taking a look at the right in the east bay as we picked up the commute on highway 80 was down. a 21 minute drive time. still pretty normal for the commute. heavy into the san ramon valley. the traffic is reaching the dublin interchange. slow from the altemont pass.

hot spot in marin county. >> we are tracking a few hot spots. things are getting slower around the bay area. in marin, 101 cell found at fried is parkway, the accident clear from the lanes and starting to clear in the final stages of the shoulder. the damage has been done and traffic is backed up to the nevada and eras. the 101 south on drive times are over an hour from nevada to central san rafael and the golden gate bridge. big delays for the drive on 6 80s outbound into pleasant hill and walnut creek. you are looking for a 14-60 minute drive time from concord to the 24 interchange. much slower than it should be. south bay, there are problems with an accident on 85 in the northbound direction pushing the drive up to 23 minutes heading out to saratoga from 101. check out this back up

leading wall past lexington. 23 minutes north bound into los gatos. that is a heavy truck. hot spots all around the bay. the bridge check starting at the bay bridge toll plaza, westbound the backup is to the edge of the macarthur maze. a 20 minute drive time if you're coming from interstate 80 or from the macarthur maze on 580 and 24, a look at the san mateo bridge ride. we are still enjoying a smooth commute although there was a report of an accident. we have not seen any back up. it does not appear as though there will be any problem for the westbound ride. your commute to the golden gate, we told you about the problems in northern marin. the trip across the span while heavy is not bad. there are no delays. 8:19 a.m., let's get a check on weather with james fletcher in the weather center.

>> the morning sun is up and we are beginning to see it early morning heating. right now we're mostly clear. cool temperatures for the most part and beginning to warm. nice and hot come this afternoon. afternoon temperatures should be quite a bit warmer than yesterday. 80s around the bay, 90s inland and will clear things out and keep a smile as we head into the overnight hours. today dropping back down to the '60s. a quick look at where temperatures are right now and what we are expecting over the course of the day today. here are the current temperatures. you notice we are back into the 60s in the south bay. the heating is beginning to kick in. off to a mergers will look like this as we progress throughout the day. by the noon, 80s in the orange, 70's and yellow. that pretty much consists of the entire

this man. authorities have been scouring the area looking for him since the shootings. authorities have searched a 400 square mile area. they put up for the cameras to aid in their search and one of the camera shots, they believe is a picture of the man holding an assault rifle and breaking into a cabin. he is suspected of fatally shooting eight for brad city councilman and a land trust councilman. >> police in oakland to say that a man found fatally stabbed inside a burning home to weeks ago was a convicted murderer who was just released from prison in january. the two bodies were found when firefighters responded to a fire in a two-story building at college avenue earlier this month. an autopsy revealed that both victims suffered multiple stab rooms. police believe the fire was started to cover the crime. witnesses reported seeing several people running from the building after the fire

should be closer to 21 from 85 to the montague expressway and 280 out of downtown once again really starting to grind but it starts way back here on 680 heading in the northbound direction. 24 minutes to cupertino. we have been tracking this ride on 85 heading north bound through saratoga through campbell and the drive times are about 12 minutes over what they should be, especially high with 17 northbound, it opens north of lexington but heavy and slow from the summit. 22 minutes is the northbound right. a bridge check as we look at the bay bridge westbound. we are still pretty heavily backed up. the 880 approach is slowing a little more. 20-22 minutes out of the macarthur maze for the westbound bay bridge. the san mateo bridge is a great alternate. traffic is not too heavy

southbound ride is still backed up three danville and walnut creek into san ramon. the slow traffic southbound will cost 32 minutes into dublin out of walnut creek and the northbound right is backed up slower than usual adding 10 minutes to the northbound truck time to walnut creek out of san ramon with an accident backing of the right towards sycamore valley road. in the south bay we continue to track highway 85 as a hot spot in the northbound direction heading past this 17 interchange through saratoga through cupertino. the drive time is running 28 minutes. that is an extra 12 minutes over what it should be. the 17 commute has been extremely slow. it is starting to forget a little bit at 22 minutes out of the summit in the northbound direction. a bridge check looking first at the bay bridge toll plaza where the westbound ride is still backed up through the toll plaza towards the macarthur maze. the drive time is

leaving milpitas and heading south, even before you get to the 101 interchange on 680 southbound where it becomes interstate 280 north oz, that is damned as well. if you are heading from milpitas, it will take you over 30 minutes to get out to cupertino. 17 had been a hot spot, it has cleared out pretty nicely. 85, heavy traffic has been trying to get into saratoga, that has moved. it is moving through the santa clara valley now with the heaviest traffic between cupertino and mountain view for northbound 85. here is a look at the bridges. the bay bridge toll plaza, a solid backup and a 22 minute drive time heavy from the macarthur maze all the way through the bay bridge. this has been a tough ride this morning even though it started out looking otherwise. the san retail bridge continues to be a good ride, a good alternate to the bay bridge if you have the choice. the golden gate bridge is not looking back. the commute

>> nurses that were locked out from their jobs after a one day strike last week are back to work this morning. the strike was held last thursday by 23,000 nurses at sutter, kaiser and children's hospitals. kaiser nurses were allowed back on the job the following data sutter and children's nurses were not as their replacements were given a five day contracts. this morning we received a statement from the ceo of sutter hospital. they say, i want to thank those care givers who chose to work during the strike and welcome back our nurses and other employees who chose to participate in the strike. >> an investigation is under way into the recent death of a patient at the summit medical center in oakland. while replacement nurses were on duty, a 66 year-old cancer patient was apparently given the wrong dose of medication buy a replacement nurses and died saturday morning. multiple organizations have launched investigations stating that

rosa into petaluma and continuing down to navato and towards the golden gate bridge, still a heavy and slow commute. 101 has been a hot spot for some time. in the east bay, we have been tracking this hotspot on 680. finally starting to see some improvement in the southbound direction. the drive times are dropping down to about 23 minutes. it should be 18. northbound traffic is still behind schedule out of san ramon and 12 minutes for the northbound right to walnut creek. 280, downtown san jose is still heavy heading west toward 17. definitely thinning out for the ride out towards cupertino. northbound 101, still a few pockets of slow and go traffic on your rightwards mountain view out of downtown san jose. your commute on highway 85 has definitely picked up heading past the guadalupe parkway and continuing on towards cupertino. as we mentioned,
