>>justine: we have a developing story. stocks are sliding despite a purse in hiring for december. the labor department put out new figures this morning that shows about 8.5%, that is the new unemployment rate. the economy added to 1000 jobs for the month of december. this is the best news we have had for the past three years since february of 2009 for the unemployment rate. despite the positive economic news, stocks are down 73 points.

the snb is also down and the nasdaq is down. more on this developing story right here on kron4. >>james: two-man are in custody after shots were fired from a building in the summer district. police are brandishing heavy firepower. the shots rang out at around 11:00 p.m. last night. phone calls started coming in it to 911. police arrived on the scene and they heard gunfire. there were not sure where it does coming from the the new was at the intersection of ninth street and clients. fan may ultimately identified to people in a building at the intersection. those two people jumped rooftop to rooftop, almost half the length of the block and he

>>darya: a woman charged with murdering a hayward nursing student, the grand jury transcripts say that esteban blamed michelle for wrecking her relationship with her daughter's father. we will be following the latest developments with that story today. also, should be davis will be sentenced for killing and torturing her 15 year-old niece in a foster daughter. that happened on september 2nd of 2008. she was also found guilty of torture in and using the girl's twin brother. should be davis was the primary guardian for the teenager. prosecutors say the victim was more onerous, deprived of medical care and beaten. she was found dead and naked on her bedroom floor. she was found guilty

police chase. the suspect ran away. therefore differ robbery suspects in that car. the car ran a red light and then was hit by a truck. two additional cards and collided. no one was seriously hurt. police did catch up with three of the four suspects. >>james: the air force academy is charging three of its cadets with sexual misconduct including one accused of rape. all three attended the your force academy in colorado springs but were reportedly involved in separate incidents over the last 15 months. the new charges, one week after a department of defense report found a sharp increase in attacks like this. the report revealed that there were 33 sexual assaults at the academy in the 2010-2011 academic year. that is up from 20 the previous year. we will take a break. here is a live look outside on the san mateo bridge. right on 92 is awfully light in

a man had been shot. >> the first homicide of the year happened here. police say the shooting happened around 8:30 p.m.. the victim was taken by a nearby hospital and pronounced dead a half an hour later. police are investigating this as possibly gang related. >>mark: tonight, a candlelight vigil will be held in downtown walnut creek for the victims of the tucson arizona shooting. this is video of the scene back on january 8th of 2011. jared laughner is accused of killing six people and wounding 13 including get real difference. he has since been diagnosed with mental illness. the vigil is
