store. you better call for backup. >> e >> pam: five people were hurt, one seriously after the driver crashed into the walmart in east san jose. and began attacking people. but the first victim was outside the store, and tonight, kron 4's dan kerman speaks with her. >> reporter: when sharon kaye pulled into this east san jose walmart on easter sunday she had one thing in mind >> i was going to buy some potatoes for easter dinner. >> reporter: that's because within seconds of pulling in, her car was hit by this vehicle the san jose music teacher got out of the car and it

suspect had been using drugs. when he rammed his car through the front of the wal-mart and began assaulting customers. authorities say, 31-year- old haamid zaid is being held without bail at the santa clara county jail. for investigation of assault with a deadly weapon, hit and run, being under the influence of drugs, and resisting arrest. as of right now, police are trying to determine the motive. >> new at 8. violence erupting in the mission over the weekend. two shootings and a stabbing leaving two people dead. the first incident. early friday.on mission between 16th and 17th.right near mission bart.

a 59 year old woman.stabbed to death. then early saturday.a fatal left shooting. this near 24th and bryant streets. a 19-year old college student was killed. and on sunday night around 10pm.a shooting on a muni bus near the southern edge of the mission at valencia and mission streets. a man and a woman were shot, but survived. kron four's scott rates talked to police in the mission.who are looking for suspects in all of these cases.

kron 4's charles clifford has a look at what's on his agenda. >> reporter: air force one is scheduled to arrive here in the bay area on the wednesday april 3rd. on wednesday evening the president will be attending two fundraisers in san francisco. the first is a reception at the home of democratic fundraiser tom steyer and then president will attend a $32,500 a plate dinner at the home of billionaire philanthropists ann and gordon getty. both events are fundraisers for the democratic congressional campaign committee. presumably with the goal of filling the coffers of the democratic party in preparation for the congressional midterm elections in 2014. obama will then spend the night here in the bay area and attend two more fundraisers for the democratic national committee on thursday in atherton. his first stop will be brunch at the home of liz simons and mark heising, with tickets costing

$32,400. and then his last stop will be lunch at the home of marcia and john goldman. tickets for that event start at $1000. the president will then head to back to the airport, where air force one is scheduled to depart on thursday afternoon. this will be obama's first visit to the bay since winning re-election last fall in the newsroom, charles clifford kron 4 news. a chilling mystery in texas. the question -- who is killing texas prosecutors? a second law enforcement official has been killed. in a matter of weeks. kron 4's catherine heenan reports. colorado prosecutors say. they are going after the death penalty for james holmes. he is the man charged with killing a dozen people in a movie theatre last july. this is holmes at an earlier hearing -- no cameras were allowed inside court today. the prosecutor says, he talked about the penalty for holmes, with the 60 people who lost relatives in the shooting. and decided that "justice is death". if it happens -- a friend of one of the victims says, he wants to be there. assassinated this man - mark hasse - the deputy district attorney of kaufman county, texas. people in the largely rural area were shocked at the daylight shooting. right outside the courthouse. but hasse's boss and friend - d.a. mike mclelland - responded with anger and bravado. calling the perpetrators 'scum' - and vowing to hunt them down. this is what he said 8 weeks ago. >> >> " we're gonna find of whatever hole you are in and we are going to bring you back and let the people of kaufman county prosecute you >> reporter: it's a promise he wouldn't live to keep. saturday night - police found the bodies of the d-a and his wife cynthia at their home. police found shell casings from a high-powered rifle. there's been increased security at the courthouse. everyone here is on guard. sheriff says they're protecting other officials lawyer.shock waves through the community >> reporter: one of several angles investigators are exploring - whether members of a vicious white supremacist group is involved. kaufman county prosecutors had helped in the indictment of 31 members of the 'aryan brotherhood of texas' prison gang. in december - texas officials warned that the brotherhood was planning retaliation. as for mclelland. he had realized something like this could happen. ".to somebody else." investigators are also looking into a possible link between the killing of the

inside the stadium say that this team could be amazing and they are expecting quite a bit. at this point, however it is too-0. reporting in oakland, j.r. stone, kron 4 news 2-0 >> pam: it was two years ago on opening day for the giants in los angeles. that giants fan bryan stow was brutally beaten outside the dodger's stadium parking lot. the bay area paramedic and father of two. is still in a rehabilitation facility in bakersfield. stow, suffered serious head trauma and was in a coma after the assualt. and just recently recovered from a blood clot.

his family posted an update on their blog. on his condition today. saying in part. quote -."we remember two years ago and even recently, when we didn't know if he would even live." "for him to be at this point truly is a miracle." the two men accused of the attack, have yet to go to trial. a veteran san jose firefighter, who collapsed while battling a blaze last august, is back on the job. firefighter frank ryan was treated to a 'welcome back breakfast' at station- one this morning. ryan suffered a heart attack on august 30th. as crews were gaining the upper hand on a stubborn 3-alarm fire at st. patrick's church, on east santa clara street. ryan tells kron four's rob fladeboe. he began to feel faint, and the next thing

he remembers is waking up in the hospital. ".for five days" ryan received round-the- clock support from his fellow firefighters. they slept in cots at the hospital until he woke up. he has since made a full recovery. >> a north bay city is deploying a different tactic to try and deal with the homeless. some downtown businesses have complained about homeless individuals taking items from dumpsters, urinating on property and other problems. >> i think it is cool it is not their fault that they are homeless. i think that

everybody deserves a place in the streets it is a free country. i think people should see it. people are still going to hard ship right now. in response, the police department and a local charity. have created a hot zone map. three areas where they are asking the homeless to avoid. or be respectful, if they do decide to loiter in the designated spots. the mayor calls it the first step in trying to humanely cope with the homeless. however, others say. it is the wrong move. the mayor says, they are also looking at asking the county to help provide more resources for the homeless. so they will have other places to go rather than just hang out around the city. grant? here's a map to show you *where homeless people in san rafael are being asked to avoid.the so called hot- zones officials are targeting. this is downtown san rafael
