(male announcer) live from the bay area here is your kron 4 news >> top stories we're following here on thursday may 2nd fire crews continued to battle fires burning in the north bay, an early start to this year's fire season. we will update you on their progress. >> we do not have wind like we did yesterday, it will be a lot hotter. >> we just had morning lows so at this point on temperatures will rapidly increase. the get how much warmer is supposed to be compared to the seasonal average. oakland is in the game to break a record with a high of 89 degrees that could break an old record set back in '92. it should be 19 degrees warmer and san

fires still burning and the north bay right now. the up largest of the two fires is the yellow fire. it is an sonoma county near kalispell death. this is burned over 100 a.. >> a lot of these crews are just getting here to begin with here at the command center. they'll be going through a briefing any moment and at around 730 or 745 it will give us a pool briefing on where everything stands this morning. the fire is holding steady at 125 a. and is 60 percent contained. as the fire crews fought this fire yesterday, they were fighting from the air and ground. helicopters are picking up water from nearby lakes and dropping it

on the fire. smoke billowed up over the trees. this fire is happening really early in the wild fire season. some of the crew members told us yesterday that these are conditions you'd expect to see and june not early may. it is like to be a very long fire season. you can see some of the smoke as it makes its way through the trees just beyond the fire trucks. we expect a full update from fire crews around 745 this morning. we will get a better idea of when we can expect full containment of this fire. >> your out yesterday's the new it was like when it was windy. how's that feel as far as right now? >> we talk about the wind being one of the main things that firefighters are concerned about because it helps fire spread. right

now, it is pretty,.y calm. >> we are following the developing story of the severance is out of sampras's the were the search continues for a third suspect accused of shooting a man and then taking officers on a high-speed pursuit. it started on 19th and mission and ended on southbound 1 01 near candlestick park. >> the car came to rest on the aum branch of southbound 1 01 basically in brisbane. here's video we got of the scene around 4:00 in the morning. the shooting took place around 2:00 in the morning when three suspects in a white car while traveling along the 18th and mission a police officer was behind them and they did not realize it. the police

officer actually saw shots coming from the white card to a man who had just come out of the liquor store. the >> shot in the leg. the officers immediately tried to pull over the suspect but they took off quickly on 1 01 in access of 100 mi. per hour. the officer lost visual contact of the car. they got it is the titular place and the car plows into a tree on the off ramp of southbound 1 01 in candlestick park. a game to rest here. by the time he got here, all he saw was a cloud of dust in the air. he saw the cart main goal and said two people into custody immediately. the third suspect managed to jump a fence and run through this location here. flip this chp as well as the san francisco police department immediately set up a perimeter. they were unable to find a third suspect after searching for him for more than an hour and i have

they decided enough was enough. they questioned the two people better in downtown san francisco right now in jail. they're trying get information on the third suspect as well as a mode of of why they shot this man. the good news is the man was shot in the leg and he should survive. >> pretty incredible sequence of events there, thank you. >> 7068 am and a new report suggests that bad bulls are not the only problem with the new eastern span of the bay bridge. now there is word that the tower wells are flawed and are in the process of being repaired. according to a report in the sacramento bee 20 ft. else have been identified as substandard and the california department of transportation is working with contractors to fix the problem. the welds are necessary for the tower to remain standing during a major earthquake. the wells

suspected of putting poison orange juice inside of starbucks coffee shop. here is the woman, a 50 year-old ramineh behbehanian. a witness at the starbucks on snell avenue says he saw one and removing two bottles of orange juice from her bag and putting them on the shelf with other items. police were called in to investigate and test out the orange juice was laced with lethal doses of rubbing alcohol. the arraignment for heart is set for 130 this afternoon at santa clara county superior court. >> in calaveras county the town of valley springs is still in mourning the loss of 8 year-old leila fowler. we have images that you only see on kron4. the show police searching laws, looking for clues that will lead them to her killer. it

hayward and san leandro, 85 richmond. mid peninsula, 91 san mateo, 84 downtown san francisco, 92 and napa. it looks like a sea breeze will kick in later on this afternoon and that will keep temperatures and check along the coastline. the heat advisory does not extend to the coast. the westerly breeze will continue into tomorrow. more morning fog as we head into saturday and sunday and sunday night into monday we are talking the potential for some rain. right now, it is looking like a 10 percent chance. if you do not see any rain drops you will definitely see an increase in cloud cover. >> we're still monitoring a pretty good ride as we have not been tracking any hot spots. we're looking at the bay bridge and the westbound ride is backed up to west grand avenue, 18 to 20 minutes drive times there. to 'g from the nimitz freeway. the

san mateo bridge drive is still pretty good, 11 to 12 minutes commute time over to foster city. the golden gate bridge ride southbound 1 01, an easy ride across the span and a pretty good ride for marin county. all around the bay, 16 to 18 minutes drive times for the east shore freeway. 680 southbound is fairly heavy but no unusual problems. there's been no incidents for the walnut creek ride in the san ramon valley ride. south bay freeways are still doing pretty well as the volume builds very we picked up a little slowing in the southbound direction but it is still under 35 minutes from the bottle to the golden gate bridge. >> three college friends caught up in the boston marathon bombing case. they tell federal officials they did not know dzhokhar tsarnaev was a suspect until authorities released photos of him and his brother. dias kadyrbayev, amazmat ta

bodies had been recovered overnight in the building collapse in bangladesh. the death toll is at least 430 while another 149 people are still missing. yesterday, a mass muslim funeral was held for 34 victims whose bodies couldn't be identified. the eight story building collapsed in march it on april 24th at a day after a huge cracks appeared in the building and police ordered an evacuation. the owner of the building is accused of telling employees to keep working despite the order. in north korea, a u.s. citizen has been sentenced to 15 years of hard labor. the country's supreme court says pae jun ho known as kenneth bae by u.s. authorities committed house dial access against south korea. he is a korean american. he was arrested back in november after visiting as a tourist at a port in north korea. officials in south korea are not providing details about

a pretty mild start. we're seeing some 40's and the north bay in santa rosa 23 degrees cooler than 24 hours ago. most of us are seeing some '50s and we are starting to see some 60s and it is already 70 degrees in pittsburg. for afternoon highs, i highlighted some of the warmer spots 94 walnut creek, 92 concord. in the south bay, cupertino 98, 92 san jose, 94 sunnyvale. very warm weather around the bay area. i will have more on your heat advisory and talk about what we will see some relief coming up in just a couple of minutes. >> we're looking at what has just become a hot spot, interstate 680 in the northbound direction and the san ramon valley. admittedly, this is not identified as the commute direction but it is for you if that is the way you're headed. it is backing up the ride it and it is likely to back up the southbound side of the freeway as well. slow traffic already in the

northbound direction as you head out from the 682580 interchange. it is reported a five car accident that is blocking two of the available lanes and six in the northbound. no impact yet on the southbound side but it is likely to happen. >> following the latest with the wild fires that are happening, the largest of the two is the yellow fire just north of calistoga. about 120 a. or so, mike pelton is live in the command center. >> currently, the fire is 125 a. in steady. it is now 60 percent contained. they just wrapped up a briefing about 20 minutes ago and during that briefing they encourage all the firefighters to stay hydrated because of the high temperatures they are dealing with. yesterday

where the wild fire news is coming into this blaze broke out along u.s. 1 01. they have more than 200 fire fighters there. the other one is marin county. >> that is the one we have been ffollowing all morning long. 40 percent containment. they are making progress but as you can see in that shot, it's kinda hard to make out but that is the skeleton of a building or two. the firefighters are feverishly working to put this out. for a half square miles miles. the weather down there has and hotter than it has been here.
