in fairfield from a nearby grass fire. jackie sissel is live with the details. >> you could see the damage on the roof up here caused by the fire. a lot of nervous moments last night when the fire actually broke out. they had to evacuate gas from the hotel. according to officials, the fire broke out around 7:00. it was a small grass fire. because of his dry temperatures and heavy winds, the fire spread to the nearby motel 6. some of the embers fell on the roof and into the attic. about 45 guests were staying at the hotel at the time. all of the guest had to be evacuated. luckily, everyone got out without injury. this fire with 23 alarm and took firefighters in a while to get it out. the hotel

according to the on call manager said the hotel will probably be closed for a couple of days. building inspectors will have to come out and check the integrity of the roof in major it is a before anyone comes back into the hotel. the good is it is everyone made it out. it is another great lesson. on these hot windy days, these things can spark up quick. those embers can apply a long way and cause a lot of damage. everyone was apparently able to get all their stuff late last night and find other accommodations. >> the city of san jose is still in major-league baseball trying to kickstart its effort to get the a's to the south bay. city leaders say the league has been dragging its feet for four long years costing san jose millions of dollars in potential revenue. a's owner wew wolff won some of his

mayor quan is confident that the a's will remain in oakland. >>mark: those evacuated from a fast-moving grass fire that spread to a fairfield motel have gone back to retrieve their belongings today haute. the battalion chief assessed the damage at the motel 6 and decided to let the evacuees returned to gather their belongings. the fire was first reported as seven last night near highway 80 and susan valley road. a three-alarm was called when the fire spread quickly and spread to the nearby motel 6. firefighters were able to contain the grass fire to between an acre and an acre and a half. most of hotel room sustain water damage from the sprinkler system. no one was injured from both fires. >>darya: pa we are learning new information on how young boy was killed by a dog and union city. the child was

because the winds were so strong, hot and dry out here, some of the amber spread onto the nearby motel 6. it has about zero hundred rooms. according to the owner, about 80 of those rooms were occupied during the time of the fire. the fire spread into the act and the manager on duty, according to the owner, upholds the fire alarm and got everyone out of the hotel. ultimately, this fire went to three alarms. the good news is everybody was able to get out without any injuries. we did have a chance yesterday, to talk to one of the people who was staying here and he talked about the scene. >> my roommate bought something was burning and the grass right here from the overpass crept all the way up and delivery evacuating, the trees were on fire and then the roof and everything else. >>jackie: as i said, there is about hunter rooms here in this hotel. according to the owner, only about 50 to 20 of the rear rooms have a
