in fairfield from a nearby grass fire. jackie sissel is live with the details. >> you could see the damage on the roof up here caused by the fire. a lot of nervous moments last night when the fire actually broke out. they had to evacuate gas from the hotel. according to officials, the fire broke out around 7:00. it was a small grass fire. because of his dry temperatures and heavy winds, the fire spread to the nearby motel 6. some of the embers fell on the roof and into the attic. about 45 guests were staying at the hotel at the time. all of the guest had to be evacuated. luckily, everyone got out without injury. this fire with 23 alarm and took firefighters in a while to get it out. the hotel
according to the on call manager said the hotel will probably be closed for a couple of days. building inspectors will have to come out and check the integrity of the roof in major it is a before anyone comes back into the hotel. the good is it is everyone made it out. it is another great lesson. on these hot windy days, these things can spark up quick. those embers can apply a long way and cause a lot of damage. everyone was apparently able to get all their stuff late last night and find other accommodations. >> the city of san jose is still in major-league baseball trying to kickstart its effort to get the a's to the south bay. city leaders say the league has been dragging its feet for four long years costing san jose millions of dollars in potential revenue. a's owner wew wolff won some of his
team from oakland to the south bay but the giants argue they hold territorial rights to san jose dating back to when the giants considered moving there. that was before at&t park was built. the giants are blocking the move by the a's and the league isn't doing anything about it. supporters of them will say a 1922 ruling that makes baseball is exempt from antitrust laws is outdated. >> oakland is working on a lease extension for the team at its current zero.co been you. as a loss of unfold, oakland mayor jean kwon is confident that the a's will remain in oakland. >> we are ready to go and i think our city and our fans deserve to have real serious negotiations go on for the home for days. mayor can't

bridge, a pretty good ride here with no delays in the westbound direction. i should mention that back at the bay bridge there was a wind advisory in place. the golden gate bridge is an easy ride. northbound, southbound no delays. the wind it is in the air and is a beautiful morning. the east shore freeways slowed down on little early this morning but it has not gotten any worse. is a 21 minute and route town from hercules to berkeley. seen some slowing for the willow pass westbound on 94. 282 getting a little sluggish as ours south bay freeways, we're seeing selling on 1 01, 85 and interstate 280. the north bay ride, 1 01 southbound is still a pretty good ride coming from a bout of southbound to the golden gate bridge. there was an incident in the early morning hours at that knocked down a telephone
pole on 1 01 right at the county line. even though they have opened up the lane and northbound, there is still some units standing by on the shoulder. >> 7:18 a.m. and taking a live look as court is back in session for the georgia zimmerman trial where the jury selection process is continuing. they have it down to 40 potential jurors that they need to find that final group of six jurors and four alternates. they will be dealing with such key issues of race, equal justice, gun control. zimmerman is charged with killing of an armed 17 year- old trayvon martin. he claims it was self-defense. there is going to be, they are really focusing on race in the case as well. 27

mayor quan is confident that the a's will remain in oakland. >>mark: those evacuated from a fast-moving grass fire that spread to a fairfield motel have gone back to retrieve their belongings today haute. the battalion chief assessed the damage at the motel 6 and decided to let the evacuees returned to gather their belongings. the fire was first reported as seven last night near highway 80 and susan valley road. a three-alarm was called when the fire spread quickly and spread to the nearby motel 6. firefighters were able to contain the grass fire to between an acre and an acre and a half. most of hotel room sustain water damage from the sprinkler system. no one was injured from both fires. >>darya: pa we are learning new information on how young boy was killed by a dog and union city. the child was

downtown san francisco and a low to mid 70's for the north bay. your 7 day around the bay in extended forecast shows a gradually warmer weather. you can see by friday we will already be in the mid '80s. at saturday we're talking about upper 80s for your warmest and land spots. looks like temperature will start to cool as we and the weekend. by sunday, we will see more and the way of cloud cover. afternoon sunshine as we head into monday and tuesday. george? >> the ride through pleasanton southbound is a result of a northbound incident. it has created a visual hazard for the southbound 680 ride. we have when advisories for bay area bridges this morning. perhaps that's why they have been running the metering lights so slowly. there are no incidents however there

because the winds were so strong, hot and dry out here, some of the amber spread onto the nearby motel 6. it has about zero hundred rooms. according to the owner, about 80 of those rooms were occupied during the time of the fire. the fire spread into the act and the manager on duty, according to the owner, upholds the fire alarm and got everyone out of the hotel. ultimately, this fire went to three alarms. the good news is everybody was able to get out without any injuries. we did have a chance yesterday, to talk to one of the people who was staying here and he talked about the scene. >> my roommate bought something was burning and the grass right here from the overpass crept all the way up and delivery evacuating, the trees were on fire and then the roof and everything else. >>jackie: as i said, there is about hunter rooms here in this hotel. according to the owner, only about 50 to 20 of the rear rooms have a
heavy fire and smoke damage but because of the damage that was done to the rules, he will have to get a building inspector to take a look at the building before they are able to reopen the building. they will also have to fix the sprinkler system that he says was working just fine. --15 to 20. a great reminder to everybody that even a small brush fire can spread and cause a lot of damage. >>darya: the city of san jose is suing a major league baseball. they wanted the eighth to move to the south bay and they think that the giants are in their way. mlb ask senate leaders say the mlb has been dragging their seed crop that for four years. the a's owner lew woulff is now part of this
lawsuit in any way. the giants are blocking the move on by the a's and of the league isn't doing anything about it at this point. meantime, oakland is working on a lease extension for the a's to continue to play in oakland. but i don't think san jose has insight at this point. we are ready to go and i think our city and our fans deserve to have real serious negotiations about the future of the home for the case. >>darya: everybody will talk about it. mayor quan meeting this morning to visit the governor to further discuss

three degrees warmer than yesterday. and today, santa rosa check-in as 72 degrees. let's focus on the evening hours. still clear out there. take a look at to temperatures. futurecast 4, san mateo dropping to 58 degrees and 62 in san jose. in terms of your extended forecast, gradually warmer weather. and fact, saturday will be the warmest day of the week. getting pretty close to 90. so it will be pretty toasty for the far inland spots. we will keep warm conditions around the bay with low 80s expected. temperatures will start to slide into sunday and monday. but be prepared for afternoon sunshine. >>george: it was a northbound accident that backed up the southbound side. we are starting to see
some slight improvement as the accident being cleared away from the northbound lanes. still looking at some slowing for no. 68 right at 242 because of an early occurring fire. at the bay bridge we've had a winning by 3 am place and a slower air-traffic. the metering lights were cycling a much more slowly. we have a backup on 880 approach pushing the drive times from up over 20 minutes. also, which had a wind advisory in place for the san mateo bridge. the very slow traffic for a while from here to the toll plaza out toward the span. better conditions now, but still a 17 minute drive. and for the golden gate bridge, a sneak commute as it has been through marin all morning. we have been incident 3011 southbound from a bottle down to the bridge. >>darya: let's take look at

now temperatures are in the '50s. but the six downtown san francisco, 60 livermore, 67 san rosa. temperatures will be a little warmer today compared to yesterday. by 3:00 we will get the mid-70s and for our inland locations, closed 74 the bay. low 60s for the coast and it will be a little warmer compared yesterday. this keeps off or warming trend, more details coming up in my next report. >> we are tracking a couple of late hot spots in the commute. traffic is slower than it should be. we do not have any major incidents but we do have a slower ride for westbound 580. and accidents and all backed up the ride which in turn backed up the westbound 580 ride. there was an accident at high street on the nimitz but that is cleared out. traffic is still backed up into
hayward and on 2 to 38 in the northbound direction. we'll update you drive times coming up. >> going out to fairfield where a grass fire spread out to a motel 6. jackie sissel is live there on sues on valley road to tell us what happened. >> you are looking at this motel 6 on a fair fell. it started as a simple grass fire that was only a about an acre or in a contract acre and a half large. i got a chance to talk to the honor of the hotel would do not want to go on camera but did say he was thankful that all of the guests were able to get out. this all started around 7:00. it went out as a grass fire on 880 outside of court delia. the hot wind spread it to the nearby motel 6. it spread to
the rules and the attic area. at that point, the manager on duty pull the fire alarm and evacuated all of the guests that were staying here. the good news is everyone made it out without any injury. about 20 other rooms sustained damage. about 10 to 15 of them sustained major damage. they will probably remain closed for the next several days to check the integrity of the building. there is lots of water damage outside of the hotel. we're getting into these hot windy days of summer now. this acre an acre and a half of freeway, spreads embers and catches on fire. that is a reminder to us all that the simple grass fires could turn into something bigger. >> the city of san jose is suing major-league baseball trying to kickstart its
effort to get a's to the south bay. city leaders say the league isn't dragging its feet for four years costing san jose millions of dollars in potential revenue. a's owner lew wolff won some of his team from oakland to the south bay but the giants argued a whole territorial rights to san jose dating back to when the giants considered moving there. that was before at&t park was built. the giants are blocking the move by the a's in the league isn't doing anything about it. supporters of a move that say a 1922 ruling that makes baseball is exempt from antitrust laws is outdated. oakland is working on a lease extension for the team as currents go.co been you. >> they may have lost its and we have fight. we are ready to go and i think that
