even saw one train roll when at a very slow speed obviously the whole service is still shut down. this is a hub for everyone going to sfo. there are a lot of people showing up here tried to get over to sfo. obviously this is one of the biggest i had a chance to talk to several riders this morning as you cannot imagine, they are frustrated. >>: very frustrated. it's just like the strike. you know find out before you go to bed. you wake up in the morning and then everything and find out what's going on. >>: i just found out right now showing up. >>: i will figure something
out. >>: the other flank and darya is a lot of people get dropped off at bart whether it's to go testify or get to work. they dropped off walk up and there ride is gone and then they find out are disclosed. i have found out that the taxi cab services are around here in millbrae obviously, another frustrating morning for those who ride a bart. people were like is it a strike? that's why the first thing you should do is get up turn on kron4 corner website gone are happen because we are up to date all the time. >>darya: which is a kind of caught me off-guard because after my myself thanksgiving next week. today the friday before thanksgiving is always the biggest travel that at sfo. >>: absolutely. they expect
to see what hundreds of thousands of people go into sfo. as i started my day sfo and i can tell you that the goal lines over there are almost all the door. it is going to be a real chore for people. there's no bart service. they're just now finding out. yet it's not going to be a pretty dead. >>darya: at 526 they were saying that if service came up at 6 that means there will still be a fallout from there. >>darya: you are probably going to have to plan our around bart service. we will be right back.
is no bart service. george is following the latest. >> this is not a strike but a computer problem that happened late last night that stranded many passengers through the night. it was released early morning and bart is scrambling to get back to service. they had originally hoped to get things restored by 5:00 a.m.. they stated that that would have it restored my six and they have issued another bulletin that they are not sure when the servers will be restored and for people to find other means of transportation we're not sure if they have abandoned their hopes of having the traffic restored but we will continue to investigate. we will now go live to mike pelton who was live a bart station. >> he told me that no bart
service until further notice. we have heard about 6:00 a.m. but now this represents a stated that this is a tad optimistic. commuters are angry and most of them are just quite tired. some of them were stranded overnight and here are pictures. you see people are asleep and bart said that after midnight the computer problem prompt up and central control was not communicating with the switches. the operators who manually craned these into place--some commuters and i get home until way past 2:00 the morning. >> i have to be there every day. this is a huge dependence a to do what we
do. >> the u.s. expects the system to be running? >> exactly, i have a standing amid the of our hands but the same time it was happening so close to the strike it does not leave day good taste in my mouth. >> march stated that no trains will go until further notice and that wind is not a factor. they stated that they're working to get this resolved. if you rely on bart, this is your only option. some people are just the. >> one of the savings that we were talking about was that there are no other options. this was an emergency problem and they had no time to get a charter bus is on standby to help out. they have their hands
full trying to get their system to withstand and get back running. as with her from mike pelton they have no estimate of when they're on have this service restored. >> that will put a lot of pressure on the bay bridge and it is already evident as we're just has 5:30 a.m.. again noticed the thieves are cash pay customers not fasttrack that are backing up in these our clients. a lot of people who normally do not commute the bay bridge may do so today. went advisory is in affect for just about everywhere. otherwise then there are wind advisor is in place and that includes your the san mateo bridge and while it will not see that much traffic is likely that we will have heavier traffic as
well. >> we're starting off with a live look for my mom tam cam. you can see the camera is rocking and rolling, you can see this still when the outside. fairfield is free court and 26 m.p.h. winds. we have a wind advisory in effect to 10:00 a.m. san francisco is not too bed but the strong wind, the high winds and for those of you along the peninsula coastline. i will talk about the conditions in just a couple minutes. >> let's talk about what the wind has done as far as power outages. there is about $15 and people in the east bay without power. the majority of the outages are
in the north bay and the south bay. about 140 on the peninsula. >> power wins in oakland left two people dead overnight. kron4 will tran is live in oakland hills with more. >> i am in the rock ridge neighborhood and you can see this huge tree that came down overnight. this is a new tree and i saw halt fresher the rules were. it is down because it could not withstand wind. psst you can see the oakland police department is here just to make sure that no one is getting out of hand or causing problems. i asked them how long the plant to be here and he stated that he did not know. he stated that they have about 50 to 60 trees down. this is a business district so it will
not be impacted to bed. he stated that there are neighborhoods where there are dead-end streets and if a train went down there you are just trapped, you will not go anywhere. this may take some time. we will walk down here to show you this entire neighborhood. right on the other side this is how strong the wins are. the leaves are blowing back and forth and ride in from is the station and people cannot drive because their car might be stuck because of a tree or maybe that will hop on the buzzer something. bart is not available either because as you concede this place would normally be busier but instead it is as empty. nicosia the lightsre's ng at this time. george press is doing a wonderful job to give people aware. i saw a
few people come has tear policemen heading to the bart station and five minutes later that walk back pretty upset because the station was not open. >> it is what it is until it is fixed. here is a lady here trying to call someone to pick her up. you have it want to punch, power outages and bart problems. >> we will give back with outages and bart problems. >> we will give back with yo[ male announcer ] some things are simply better at home. like the enticing aroma and distinctive taste of nespresso. elegant capsules meet masterfully crafted machines, and one touch creates the perfect coffee,
>> welcome back. the big story this morning is no bart service until further notice. they have major computer problems the stranded passengers for hours through the overnight. they still do not have service restored. they hoped that they would get is restored by 5:00 a.m. then they admitted to 6:00 a.m. and now they are saying no service until further notice and that you should find alternate means of transportation. >> at the bay bridge we're looking at eight backup westbound which like most bridges is under a wind advisory. we are already seeing traffic backed up beyond the 880 over cross
for the westbound ride. the the san mateo bridge is another bridge that is under the wind advisory and likely to see some extra traffic. the drive time currently is said about 11 minutes. it is still pretty good all so you're ride through the alta mount pass, westbound interstate 580 even though, on friday, we see a lighter than usual traffic it does not appear to be that case. the drive time is about 34 to 38 minutes from the 2 05 out toward the publidublin interchange. >> bart has not 7 alternate services such as bus does like they did during the strike. >> are you surprised that
the change this? no. on-line i imagine the scope of this problem is brought. he stated that he thought--mike pelton thought that perhaps it was optimistic. >> great. that is not optimistic when you wake up and they do not even know what to tell you as far as one bart will be back up. this means that a lot of people are born to try to get into some alternate gear. let's take a live look at jackie sissel. >> there are two things that they're door and unfortunate, i am the first one to tell them that there's no service. what better example is this to tell people that they should wake up turn on kron 4 news go to our app or the website
because we're the first to let you know was born on. unfortunately, i met the millbrae station and i told people and they just have no idea what is born of. i have been telling them that about 4:30 a.m. and at 5:00 a.m. and now i am not telling them anything because they just do not know. what is frustrating is that they see this trend just sitting here at we have seen one rolled through at a very slow speed but the interesting thing about millbrae is this is the man up for sfo. today, is the busiest travel that for sfo. friday before the is given. they're expecting hundreds of thousands of people supported to the airport. many of those people will get there by bart and some of them would just be left hanging. maligne i
>> i did have a chance to talk to one rider and this is car had to break the news. >> the you know the bart is now working? >> no. >> upholds system is down. >> i did not know that. >> it has been down since midnight. are you frustrated? >> yes. >> what would you do now? >> i would just have to drive to work. until now. >> this has been brisk. all over this area. a lot of that killed. thank you.
>> as george stated earlier there are no buses and basically is a free-for-all of people are not finding out to actually get here. >> so the few that you do see an on the sale falls are they just people who're leaving? >> yes. at this point what the other alternative do they have. a lot of these people are just walking up here thinking everything is okay but having no idea that the service is down. only when they get to the top and a station agent tells them to turn around. >> maybe, you may have a long bike ride in front of you. >> the time is 5:52 a.m.. let's talk about the weather. look at the conditions near heavily resort. while boreal is
already opened its hills, we will be following the snow in lake tahoe all morning. >> in the east we're sitting 26 m.p.h. winds. these winds are not as bad as what we experienced last night. we're still seemed gusty winds. is 29 from the coastline. the oakland hills is is 65 mi. per hour and 44 mi. of ford santa rosa and half moon bay. the wind advisory will expire at 10:00 a.m. but is still will be very breezy. instead of the speeds been between 30 to 60 that will go the 10
to 40 mi.. >> napa will have a high of 67. it looks like downtown san francisco will be in the mid-60s. satellite and radar shows clear conditions but again we have a northeasterly winds. your 7 their around the bay shows and to the weekend we will have very calm and pleasant conditions. the rain will be back in the forecast just a time for thanksgiving. >> the time is 5:54 a.m.. we will be right back. i love watching tv outside. and why can you move the tv out here? the wireless receiver. i got that when i switched to u-verse. but why? because it's so much better than cable.
it's got more hd channels, more dvr space. yeah, but i mean, how did you know? i researched. no, i-i told you. no. yeah! no. the important part is that you're happy now. and i got you this visor. you made a visor! yes! that i'll never wear. ohh.
