♪ >> pam :now at 11. a series of shootings along a popular east bay freeway. has drivers on edge. and after seven incidents there are no suspects in custody. the latest incident over the weekend left one man dead. it happened saturday along interstate 80. near hilltop drive. the shooting sent the victim crashing into an embankment. good evening, i'm pam moore. kron 4's alecia reid brings us the latest on the search for the suspect. >> alecia :authorites are following up on leads and say witnesses are the key factors in this investigation.the smallest bit of info could break this case >> : if you saw anything in

this case, even the smallest thing could help the case >> alecia :the latest shooting along the i-80 corridor sent a jeep grand cherokee careening over the embankment near the hilltop road exit, and its driver dead from gunshot wounds. this is the 7th shooting in 4 months. two of them have been deadly. chp officer daniel hill says all of these shootings may be gang related. >> : this last civtim had strong ties to north richmond gangs. --victim >> alecia :the victim, 39-year- old leslie graham jr, was traveling west bound when another vehicle pulled up. multiple shots were fired into his su-v. it happened just after 1 0'clock saturday morning. much like all the recent shootings between richmond and pinole, it happened while it was dark out. >> : this is nothing new this type of thing happens all the time in this area. especially in the evenings i avoid driving this way unless it's absolutely necessary.

>> alecia :the highway patrol and agencies in this area are working hard to put a stop to these shootings. >> : we have extra patrols in the area, extra officers on scene keeping an eye on the corridor. >> alecia :authorites are paying closer attention to this stretch of freeway, but at the same time they only have a certain amount of manpower and if other emergencies arise they have to tend to those this is why they are urging drivers to be aware of their surroundings and drive defensively. reporting live in richmond >> pam :saturday's shooting is the 7-th incident over the past four months the first incident happened last november. and all the shootings have happened between richmond and pinole. in each case, someone has either been wounded or killed. two innocent bystanders have also been hit by gunfire. however. the c-h-p wants to put these cases in perspective.

saying 70-million vehicles travel this road each year. new at 11. one person is in the hospital following a drive-by shooting in richmond. it happened just before 5- tonight in front of the nevin community center. police say, shots were fired from a car. hitting the victim in the leg. they believe the man was targeted. investigators say, this shooting could be related to the fatal shooting of a 14 -year - old boy from this morning. friends and family are mourning the death of that 14-year-old boy-- named xavier mc-clanahan. police say, he was gunned down. witnesses heard about seven shots. it happened on the grenway walking path. near ohio avenue and south 33rd street. family members were brought to their knees with grief and horror. his aunt says, mc-clanahan was respectful to his parents.

>>:i called 911 and then i ran overture and when i got there she had just had his last breath >> pam :right now. detectives are trying to establish a motive. and suspect description. investigators are still working to catch the gunman. new at eleven. rescue teams have found the body of a ski instructor. who went missing back in january. at the sugar bowl ski resort. near norden. the body of 23-year old carson may. was found beneath five- feet of snow.near where his cell phone last "pinged". teams of search and rescue dogs just happened to be training at sugar bowl ski resort.and located may's remains. carson's dad mike may. who once set a record as a blind skier. says he doesn't blame skiing for what happened.

>> : be safe. travel with a buddy. use equipment when you can. you've gotta be thinking worse case scenario. but that shouldn't keep us from getting out there and making the most of an amazing sport. >> pam :the placer county sheriff's office says, it is now clear that young ski instructor- carson may- got caught in an avalanche. he was last seen january 15th while skiing. off-duty. sugar bowl released the following statement today. "this recovery brings closure to his family and sugar bowl resort. carson was an esteemed member of the sugar bowl team. and a friend to many at the resort. the community's effort to find carson has been overwhelming. our thoughts and prayers are with the may family."

new at 11. rohnert park police are looking for a hit and run suspect, who attacked the manager of a local hotel with his car over the weekend. kron four's jeff bush has the details. >> jeff :police say that the man told the manager that he had just been released from san quentin and had no other place to go police station started the car and as he was about to leave the property but instead he aimed his car at one manager and her son she flew back words and her son rolled over the top of the hood and the driver drove off police said that the vehicle in the senate and run was a toyota camry--in this hit-and-run

and we have a few spots pushing into the high '70's and will have a closer look to your seven day forecast later >> pam :an engine fire is likely the reason why a bus exploded at a san francisco gas station. this is video of the flames and smoke coming from the bus. while parked at the chevron gas station at 9-th and howard street. officials say, no passengers were on the para- transit bus at the time. gas station employees turned off the gas to the pumps. stopping any potential explosions. we reached out to the bus company for comment. but have not yet heard back. on the penninsula. an 18-wheel, multi- ton gravel truck. smashed into a house in san carlos along windsor drive today. a neighbor told us, there was a roaring sound, rattling and banging. as the truck seemed to go right through the home. the aerials are from our helicopter partnership with abc-7. fortunately the homeowners were

away. they are now making their way back to san carlos to assess the damage. a group of renters in alameda says, the city is not doing enough to stop rising rents and evictions. the "alameda renters coalition" filed their own initiative today. which will be on the ballot in november. the initiative would cap rent increases at 4 -percent per year. it would also create an elected "rent board". to review the rental crisis and evictions in alameda. >>:we are looking for a variety of examples of what to do and what not to do >> pam :the mayor is not in support of the initiative. she says, a current ordinance working its way through the city council. just needs more time to work.

the fight over rising rents has been tense in that city. there was a scuffle with protesters at a council meeting back in november which resulted in some arrests. two candidates have a chance to possibly lock up their party nominations tomorrow on super tuesday. hillary clinton and donald trump may be unstoppable after tomorrow's primaries and caucuses in more than one dozen states. today. a scuffle broke out as 'black lives matter' protestors were walking out of a trump rally in virginia. a time magazine photographer. attempting to take a picture. was thrown to the ground by a secret service officer. meanwhile. trump's critics are hoping to derail him. >>:he is trying to scam us to take control of the presidential seat if he is selected as the republican candidate then hillary will win >> pam :clinton is heavily favored to win most of the democratic contests. and donald trump is poised to win almost all the republican states tomorrow. just ahead. the dry warm weather

>> pam :despite a wet start to the rainy season. large parts of california are still dealing with drought. and it is unlikely this new round of wet weather expected this week. will end the dry conditions. right now, the snowpack in the sierra is at about 85 -percent of normal for late february. and the state's reservoirs are holding about 56- percent of the average amount of water. that is better than in year's past. but the state water managers say, it will take a lot more moisture to end the drought. they also say, that by mid -or late - april. we should know if enough moisture has fallen. to keep or to end the water- use restrictions put into place last year. the department of water resources will be conducting another snow survey in the sierra tomorrow. >> brittney : we saw a ton of

grain last year--8 t of grain--a ton of rain last time we had a super el nino compared to this year we could see anywhere between seven to eight brigades--rainy days we have about a 60 percent chance for above normal precipitation so we will keep a close eye for the next couple of his moderate--of days moderating or whether a closer look at our condition tomorrow as we get into wednesday afternoon will see an increase in clouds and rain moving closer to 10:00 p.m.

this is an overnight storm we could see a few lingering showers and then to clear up by thursday or friday but on saturday we track another chance of weekend rain we could see strong winds and even impossibility of urban flooding--a possibility after the system moves on wednesday we will drop and will keep cooling down into the weekend and into next week >> pam :new at 11. nasa is investing in the potential revival of supersonic jet travel. the space agency has granted a 20-million dollar contract to lockheed martin to develop a passenger jet that can fly faster than the speed of sound. this is a preliminary design. nasa says the plan is intended to make flying safer, greener, and quieter.
