things have sprung alive with heavy rain happening. all the east bay communities seeing heavy rain. this is the wave that moved through downtown san francisco. the pattern we've experienced before coming in off the specific the specific, pacific. we have visibility levels that are low in many spots. this is coupled with winds. usually wins heat up fog a little bit. it looks like token -- oakland coming in at 7 miles visibility. a quick check into the wind speeds. there is a good clip in many areas. half moon bay at 10.

/flood watch covering the north bay until 6 pm. also toward the east a wind advisory until 11 am. we will have more rain happening today. but right now live in the east bay, avery harper. >> we are not getting a lot of rain. i'm at the bay bridge toll plaza. it has stopped here but the roads here are making dangerous driving condition. if you have to be out here you should slow down. i almost spun out twice and was driving within the speed limit. a lot of standing road. if you're driving you'll want to slow down. i will be here to monitor throughout the morning. >> avery harper reporting live.

for by a strained budget. >> the city using taxpayer money to solve a private property issue. we are doing it because we're concerned about public safety. >> the city is currently in litigation with the property owner and hopes to recover the cost, the 50-year-old building. happening now in the east bay police are looking for 2 gunman who shot at a party bus in oakland. it injured 4 people and temporarily shut down interstate interstate 880. the bus was traveling east on the bay bridge at about 2 am when 2 gunman pulled up and open fired. we got a close up look at the bus and counted at least 7 bullet holes. investigators believe the shooting was not random. police say the passengers are not cooperating with the investigation. the shooters driving a red suv. decision 2016 front-runner

donald trump is holding a rally in illinois this burning. it's his 1st trip back to the state says violent protests canceled him -- forcing to cancel an event. outside an event in kansas city missouri police and protesters clashed. this video shows officers using pepper spray. inside the rally demonstrators interrupted trump's campaign speech. earlier in the day there was a security scare and another rally. this was near dayton ohio. a man jumped over a barrier and rushed the stage. secret service moved into protect trump. we have video of that man being removed. donald trump is blaming bernie

fired on 2 men. it happened before 11 pm friday night. one victim died at the hospital. the other victim is expected to survive. as for the shooter, police say they don't have many leads. while police were investigating that shooting, a few hours later a man open fired on 3 san jose police officers. investigators have since identify the suspect. >> at least one patrol car hit by gunfire was towed away just hours after the shooter. >> it was intense. >> reporter: several casings found on the ground. >> we are fortunate we did not lose an officer. >> reporter: because san jose police chief says 24-year-old suspect fired on 3 patrol officers using this assault rifle and somehow none of the

officers were hit. >> >> reporter: just before 3:30 garcia says 3 officers responded to a 7-eleven store on fruitdale avenue. witnesses say a man open fired a few people in the parking lot and drove off. >> they follow the vehicle. >> reporter: when police reached the subway talking lot near fruitdale her seat says the officers ordered the suspects to get out. a little -- instead he pointed his rifle toward the officers. >> the officers returned fire and the suspect was wounded. >> reporter: the passenger was not injured. she was questioned and released. the suspect was hospitalized and then booked. >> i can't state enough the

bravery and heroism of the officers. >> reporter: all 3 officers have been placed on paid administrative leave pending the outcome of the investigation. this is the city's 2nd officer involved shooting of the year. >> reporter: in the east bay a police shootout at a restaurant led to the death of an armed robber. just before 10 pm on friday night there was a report of an armed robbery on kfc. officers found the robber trying to escape. he then turned around and pointed a semi automatic handgun at the officers and the officer then shot and killed the robber. the officer has been placed on leave. university of california president ordering a new sexual- harassment review process for senior management. this comes following complaints over uc berkeley's handling of misconduct lanes against its

model. until noon the winds stay with us. that is where we get a break in the rain. 4:00 p.m. they are still here. but by this time rain redevelop's taking us into the sunset hours. rain tapers off and goes into scattered showers all over. temperatures, rather the flash flood watch, napa county marin county. more details on your 7 day forecast coming up. turning to national news a friday night fight in a prison in alabama escalated following the stabbing of a correctional officer. the facility is on lockdown. criminal charges are pending against the inmates involved. >> they were going out.

>> reporter: a chaotic scene inside the maximum-security prison friday night. captured on a cell phone by an inmate. those inmates roaming free from their cells with no correctional officer inside. the department of corrections says prisoners stabbed an officer and wooden. the correctional officer was stabbed but he tried to detain one inmate involved in the fight. when the warden was helping he was also staff. after the assault inmates went into a hallway outside the housing unit and started a fire. a cal williams said her son was trapped in the chaos. he called her from inside the prison while it was happening. to tell her he loved her.

>> he sounded like this was his last day. tell my children i love them. i don't know what's going to happen. he said mom i love you. he said they force. >> 100 visitors -- 100 prisoners were involved. it lasted for hours. officers now doing a search of the prison. more pushing and shoving and a donald trump rally in kansas city. police moved in and pepper spray the crowd. took 2 people into custody. this is the latest in escalating violence for the republican candidates -- front runner. right now trump is getting ready to hold a rally in bloomington illinois. this is 1st -- is his 1st trip to illinois since violent protests erupted friday night

and canceled a rally. now candidates on both sides of the aisle are pushing the blame on trump. john lawrence has the story. >> reporter: cheers from the crowd as donald trump stepped off a plane in ohio. a very different scene less than 24 hours earlier. supporters and a protesters clashed during a rally at the university of illinois. trump's campaign canceled the event more than 30 minutes after it was scheduled to start amid security concerns. scores of protesters then spilled out into the streets. 5 people were arrested and 2 police officers were hurt. >> the people became their, thousands and thousands of people, they cause no problem. they were taunted, harassed, -- >> reporter: his counterparts spoke out.

republicans in wyoming are not finished voting for the party nominee just yet. another 14 delegates will be awarded on april 16. florida senator arkle rubio edged out john kasich to win the caucuses in washington dc. according to the districts republican party rubio picked up 10 of the available delegates. let's take a look at where the delegate count stands. according to cnn donald trump leads with 462, ted cruz 91 behind at 371. marco rubio --. on the democratic side hillary clinton has a big lead. she currently leads by 670 delegates.

on monday the trial begins for 3 santa clara jail guards charged the death of a mental patient. all 3 guards have pleaded not guilty. also on monday the warriors will try to remain undefeated at home. right now the warriors are on track for the most records in the regular season. on tuesday it's being called super tuesday 3. voters in 5 states will head to the polls to elect the presidential nominees for both parties. florida, illinois, ohio, north carolina and missouri. candidates on the republican side trying to stop donald trump. bernie sanders trying to turn the momentum from his surprise win in michigan in 2 other victories. is always we are tracking the weather. rain expected throughout most of the day before we dry out.

sfo. wind speeds into the teens in some locations. wins altogether this afternoon until the evening and overnight hours. let's get to the rain. obviously the rain moved through the north bay and now to the east bay. here is a break developing, not a big one. there are some of the heavier rains up in the north bay spreading out to the peninsula, to the south bay and all of the bay area bite 3 pm and 4 pm. as we go to the evening hours it turns more to scattered showers. and to greet you tomorrow morning you will get early showers. clearing again. high temperatures today about 60 on the shoreline east bay. look at all the yellow, temperatures get to 70.

maybe some clouds back. kron4.com. on the peninsula police are looking for a suspect after a double shooting in san mateo. it happened at a home near alpine road. both victims were shot multiple times by the suspect. they are expected to survive. police say the shooter is in his late 20s or 30s with a medium build. he was wearing a green jacket with baseball. he was last seen driving a green station wagon. he may be armed. in national news obama could name a supreme court nominee any day. whoever he selects, now a short list which includes a local candidate. >> reporter: president obama could name a new nominee any

day. his shortlist has shrunk to just a few names. the possible first-ever hindu and asian-american. he was confirmed unanimously. the chief justice of the dc circuit is another possibility. also paul of the appeals court. he had a contentious confirmation process with senators voting against him. he would be the 3rd ever black justice on the court. obama said he would meet with the candidates and a few other federal judges. meanwhile republicans say they will not confirm one of his nominees.

in more national news officials arrested a suspect who plowed a snowmobile into 2 iditarod dog teams in alaska. both washers are okay but one dog was killed. the 26 rolled suspect says he was drunk at the time and blacked out. he later called police and confessed. the snowmobiler is now facing assault another charges. the 2 racing teams say they will stay in the race. facebook says it received more than 1 million -- 1 million reports every day of what policy violations. saturday those reports included allegations of hate speech posted on its site. posts with physical violence are reviewed 1st. they are done by trained employees. they did not say how many questionable posts get removed. coming up the east bay

we start no with the storm tracker alert. another round of storms hitting the bay area. we can see the rain falling in the east bay along the peninsula. just about everywhere. you can see the overcast skies and we have a lot of rain in the forecast. kron4 has team coverage to give you everything you need to know about the storm. good morning every harbor is live in the east bay where rain is making dangerous driving conditions. but 1st the weather center. >> look at the rain just about everywhere. the north bay getting a little breather. the east bay it's coming down heavy in spots. also in the south bay.

this is where the flash flood watch is in effect. the reason being because they had so much rain since last week. anymore can be problematic almost instantly. as we head to the east bay this is where some of the heavier rain is happening. up to san ramon. in the south bay you can see the coverage. feeling just about the entire region. we are also having another problem coupled with this. because of fog and winds, low- lying clouds, we have airport delays. more than 2 hours out of sfo. if you have any business at sso check in ahead of time. santa rosa visibility down to 5 miles. oakland at 7. we do have winds. there is a double-digit went to be found in part of the east bay and down to the south.

east bay and south bay the heaviest areas of rain. the heaviest rain is in dublin. that extends to the south bay. you can see some of the heavier rain. later there will be successive waves spread out through the bay area metro. a live look at san mateo bridge. wet roads, no surprise. the system moved past this area around don. we are having problems at the airport. sfo delays because of fog. more than two-hour delays. satellite radar picture, watch at the end of this loop. you see a custom -- cluster of cloud cover.

homicide of the year. police were investigating that deadly shooting. a man opened fire on three san jose police officers in a parking lot. we brought you the story as breaking news yesterday on kron 4 news weekend. the suspect has been identified. reports from san jose to what led to the arrest. >> reporter: at least one patrol car hit by gunfire towed away hours after the shootout. >> it was very intense. >> reporter: several shell casings found on the ground near this black mustang. >> we were fortunate. >> reporter: san jose police chief eddie garcia says 24-year- old man opened fire on three patrol officers using this assault rifle and somehow none of the officers were hit. >> it shoots. >> reporter: garcia says three officers responded to a 7- eleven store on fruit dale avenue where witnesses say a

man opened fire in the parking lot and drove off. >> they followed the vehicle and initiated a high risk car stopped on that call. >> reporter: when police and the man reached this parking lot on meridian avenue, garcia says the officers ordered the man and his passenger to get out. only the man did so but garcia says not peacefully. he pointed his rifle toward and should -- shot at the officers. >> the officers returned fire. >> reporter: the passenger was not injured, garcia says she was questioned and released. the man hospitalized before being booked into the santa clara jail on three counts of attempted murder of a police officer. >> i can't say enough the bravery and heroism of the officers. >> reporter: all three officers involved have been placed on paid administrative leave pending the outcome of the investigation.

this is the cities second officer involved shooting of the year. now to the east bay, a police shootout at a restaurant led to the death of an armed robber, it happened before 10:00 friday night. armed robbery at a kfc on thorton avenue. officers found the robber trying to escape through the back door. police say he turned around and pointed a semi automatic handgun at the officer. the officer shot and killed the robber. he has been placed on administrative leave as police investigate the shooting. national news, friday night fight at a prison in alabama quickly escalated following the stabbing of a correctional officer and president worden. the facility is now unlocked and. criminal charges pending against the inmates. >> [ indisernible ] >> reporter: a chaotic scene inside this maximum-security

prison friday night. >> is going down. >> reporter: captured on a cell phone by an inmate. >> i ain't playing. >> reporter: inmates roaming free from their cells with no correctional officers inside. the alabama department of corrections say a prisoner assaulted and stabbed an officer and the prison warden around 9:00. the officer was stabbed when he tried to detain an inmate involved in a fight. when the worden was helping with the situation he was also stabbed. after the assault inmates went into a hallway outside the housing unit and started a fire. this woman says her son was trapped in the chaos. he called her from inside the prison while it was happening to tell her he loved her.>> he sounded like this was his last

my rain jacket is wet, my hair is white. the rain is coming off the brim of my head. you can see what it looks like in san ramon. there is rain coming down. a lot of standing water. the roads are completely soaked. a lot of puddles here, when i was driving here it was raining heavier than it is now. difficult to see the lines so if you're going anywhere you need to slow down and give yourself extra time. the risk of spin outs is high when the roads are wet. i spoke with some people who were here getting their morning coffee and they said they had been taking caution on the roadways. i would suggest if you have to get on the roadways you also take it slow and make sure you are using headlights and windshield wipers today. i don't see it getting any better out there. >> go ahead and find a place a dry place and have a cup of coffee.
