stanley you're not welcome here that was the greeting i received when i showed up at grove shafter park in west oakland. it's being cleared out by city workers with oakland police keeping watch if you are just joining allow me to bring you up to speed the park was taken over by protesters upset by the city of oakland is not fixing the housing problem due to grentfication. so they created an encampment the problem was they constructed it in a city park although the protestors claim this land is owned by nobody, so technically it's still indigious land the city says we actually have a lease with caltrans to operate this park as a park now here is where i fit in. i found out about the park 48 hours before it was to be cleared, however the city notified the people camped here we put up a notice of violation on the 27th of january and then we came in on the 30 of january and put up our 72 hour notice which included laundry list of violations we posted notice of all the health and safety violations tehre were about 18 of them they were municiple code violations fire safty code violations state penal
