and an important note for parents this morning. several this morning. several schools are closed today because of the storm. some of the districts affected include the larkspur school district... the mill valley school district and the sausalito- marin city school district. a total of 12 school districts are closing schools today as well as nine private schools including marin

catholic. for a complete list of school closures you can visit our website at kron 4. com the school closures are also scrolling across the bottom of your screen this morning. people in the south bay area still dealing with road closures... rebecca strom shows us the traffic mess on highway 17 in the santa cruz mountains. rebecca? two out of four lanes on highway 17 in the santa cruz mountains remain closed this morning. this was the scene last night as people tried to get home in bumper to bumper traffic.... a mudslide hit on tuesday, closing off much of the highway. cleanup crews worked late into the night to clear out the damage. caltrans says that the hillside is still moving as they do work. one commuter we spoke to said the road closures set her back at least two and a half hours. has to do. c-h-p says two of the four lanes will

likely be closed through the weekend at the very least. all lanes of westbound 5- 80 in livermore are back open this morning... after a giant pothole opened near greenville road. we first told you about this yesterday on the kron four morning news. it caused a huge mess for the morning commute. the road was completely reopened at around 9:00 last night. drivers all over the bay area have been dealing with potholes during the storms. a flood warning issued for the russian river near guerneville remains in effect this morning. the river is causing major problems for people in the area. there is flooding on the roads, at multiple parks and in peoples' backyards. these are all low lying areas so once it's flooded it takes a while for it to clear out. the national weather service issued the flood warning until later this afternoon. but

that could change depending on how much rain we get today. and the napa river could reach flood stage later today because of all the rain. there have been many reports of flooding all over napa county following tuesday's storms. this is video from yountville which was taken yesterday... you can see just a massive pool of water.. partially submerging a tree. and things are only expected to get worse as the next storm makes its way across the bay area. a mudslide destroys a home in san rafael... and this morning more homes are in danger as another storm hits. the home on mountain view avenue came crashing down on tuesday. a mudslide behind the home pushed it off it's foundation. so far, crews are not starting to remove any debris because the heavy rain today could cause even more damage. the two homes on either side of the house that was destroyed are not safe to live in.

people who live there say they don't know when they will be able to go home... and they are worried the damage could get even worse today. officials say it could take months before the homes are safe to live in again. and remember you can track the storm wherever you go with live radar straight on your phone. just download the free kron 4 mobile app. at any moment the federal appeals court in san francisco could reach a decsion on president trump's travel ban. earlier this week the court heard arguments from administration attorneys and the state of washington. the white house has appealed a lower court's ruling that temporarily stopped the ban. legal experts say no matter how the appeals court rules, this case will end up in the u- s supreme court. president trump criticized the federal judge who suspended the travel ban. right. president trump's supreme

court nominee is responding to the presidents attacks on judges. judge neil gorsuch is calling the attacks quote, "demoralizing," and "disheartening." specifically pointing to the president's tweet labeling the judge who blocked his travel ban a quote, "so called" judge. and happening today... senator jeff sessions will be sworn in as the new attorney general. sessions faced tough opposition in the senate before being confirmed yesterday. president trump will take place in the swearing in ceremony. still ahead on the kron four morning news... people in tahoe are facing flooding this morning... and it could get worse as the next round of rain hits. we'll take a look at current conditions. plus... a man is saved after his car

thick mounds of snow and ice are piling up into neighborhoods... blocking drains... causing major flooding in some areas... flooding over 60 homes some people in the area say they had 8 inches of water inside their homes. and taking a look at the conditions in tahoe right now... this is a live look from donner summit. strong winds and heavy rain expected today... with snow at higher elevations. and all of that could add to the flood conditions tahoe is facing. despite all of the rain and snow, people are still being urged to continue conserving water. the

state water resources control board decided to keep emergency drought restrictions in effect until at least spring. board members say this was a precaution against the return of dry weather. local districts will still have to report their water use to the state. governor brown first put the emergency into effect with an executive order in 2014. and in the east bay a good samaritan had to rescue a driver after the wet roads caused the car to skid off the road. this happened near san ramon... clayton wiedemann was working nearby when he heard a crash. a car had flipped over and started sinking in a creek. so wiedemann and his friend grabbed a pick axe to pry the car door open and free the driver who was trapped inside. knew it" c-h-p investigators say,

the 20-year-old driver suffered only minor injuries. some communities on the peninsula are worried about more flooding after their homes were damaged during the the last round of storms. this is what the "le mar" mobile home park in redwood city looked like on tuesday... there is a canal behind the mobile home park that overflows when it rains. the city and the owner have built a fence, added sand bags, and installed a water pump to try and minimize the flooding. the public works department also had to bring in pumps to hel get rid of the water after tuesday's storm. and remember you can track the storm wherever you go with live radar straight on your phone. just download the free kron 4 mobile app.

happening today... the group overseeing the proposed las vegas stadium for the raiders is set to meet. the clark county stadium authority is meeting for the first time since sheldon adelson pulled out of the deal. adelson and his family pledged 650 million dollars towards the one-point-nine billion dollar stadium. the raiders were expected to pay 500 million, with the stadium authority putting up 750-million dollars in las vegas tax revenues. n-f-l team owners must approve the raiders move from oakland to las vegas. a vote is expected during league meetings at the end of march. happening today... the 49ers will officially introduce kyle shanahan has the teams new head coach. shanahan arrived in the bay area yesterday and was greeted on the tarmac by jed york and new general manager john lynch. we'll talk more about shanahan arriving in santa clara... and hear what he said to employees yesterday.. ahead at 7:45 in the world according to gary.

in the east bay part of diablo road in danville is still closed this morning after a tree fell over and knocked down some power lines yesterday. p-g-and-e is still working to repair and replace some of those power lines. people who live in the area are being allowed to use the road until it

everything just a family is out of their home this morning after a mudslide in los gatos. it happened during the storm on tuesday. jennifer ray streamed the aftermath on facebook live... as the mud took over the property her family lives on. she says she and her husband were in bed with their young kids when they felt the ground starting to move. she describes the moment they looked outside and saw what was outside jennifer's mother, father, and sister also live on the property in separate homes. they were able to leave safely...but are worried more damage could be caused during the storms today. the family is staying in san mateo until they know it's safe to return home. a go-fund-me page has been set up to help them. we have a link to it on our website at kron-four-dot-com.

people in the south bay area still dealing with road closures... rebecca strom shows us the traffic mess on highway 17 in the santa cruz mountains. rebecca?

two out of four lanes on highway 17 in the santa cruz mountains remain closed this morning. this was the scene last night as people tried to get home in bumper to bumper traffic.... a mudslide hit on tuesday, closing off much of the highway. cleanup crews worked late into the night to clear out the damage. caltrans says that the hillside is still moving as they do work. one commuter we spoke to said the road closures set her back at least two and a half hours. has to do. c-h-p says two of the four lanes will likely be closed through the weekend at the very least.

a mudslide destroys a home in san rafael... and this morning more homes are in danger as another storm hits. the home on mountain view avenue came crashing down on tuesday. a mudslide behind the home pushed it off it's foundation. so far, crews are not starting to remove any debris because the heavy rain today could cause even more damage. the two homes on either side of the house that was destroyed are not safe to live in. people who live there say they don't know when they will be able to go home... and they are worried the damage could get even worse today. officials say it could take months before the homes are safe to live in again. and remember you can track the storm wherever you go with live radar straight on your phone. just download the free kron 4 mobile app. stay with kron4 news after the 9 a.m. newscast and
