synopsis...rain starts in the north bay overnight and then reaches the greater bay area and central coast for the thursday morning commute. rain quickly turns to showers by midday thursday. the next round of rain starts friday morning over the central coast and then spreads northward across the bay area with another round of rain. showers linger saturday then a brief dry spell through sunday. next front ord=front arrives sunday night into monday with rain chances lasting through wednesday. && .discussion...as of 2:23 pm pst ord=pst wednesday...a few passing showers across the north bay earlier today, but latest radar ord=radar imagery shows the bay area is now quiet. a few spotters did report a trace ord=trace and one or two gages tipped 0.01 inches this morning. now onto the main event. the much talked about cold front nt is still ontrack for tonight and thursday. currently the cold front nt is off the norcal coast spreading moderate to heavy rain near the ca/or border. weather model timing is in decent agreement with rain developing over the north

situation at lake oroville. this next storm won't pose a threatstate officials say the damaged spillway is lowering the lake's water level by about eight inches an hour. their target is to drop it by another 25 feet.and even with the new rain...we shouldn't see a bump in the reservoir.at the same time, state workers are working round the clock to shore up an emergency spillway next to the one being used. the cement and rocks are arriving at a rate of 12=hundred tons an hour.lotta trucks, lotta helicopters, lotta concrete. it's kinda like a war zonebutte county's sheriff says 150 national guard troops are coming to help deal with the crisis.this is still an emergency situation. it's important for people to be prepared.nearly 200=thousand people remain under an evacuation warning, but were allowed to return to their homes on tuesday.the sheriff says reports of looting were exaggerated. looting is when you have mass ... a bunch of people break into for example a business and completely empty it out. we didn't have anything like that.burglaries regrettably happen all the time.the sheriff didn't have any figures, but did say patrols have been increased, and they managed to catch some people in the act of burglary.in oroville, i'm alecia reid k4n

lifted. . .residents must know that a warning is still in place. happening now in the south bay. crews are back on highway 17where a massive mudslide continue's to wreck havoc. debris from the mudslide is still blocking the northbound lanes between the silicon valley and santa cruz. crews are building an eight-foot berm along the entire length of the slide. that way passing traffic on the southbound lanes will be protected should the slide get worse during the coming wet weather. c-h-p officials are asking drivers officials

are c-h-p officials are asking drivers to keep their eyes on the road as they pass by the ongoing work. police are now investigating a deadly shooting after officers responded to a vehicle crash in san francisco. it happened around two this morning in the area of van ness avenue and eddy street. upon arrival, officers found someone inside a car with head traumathat was later determined to be consistent with a gunshot wound. the victim whose identity is not yet being released, was pronounced dead at the scene. the shooting is now being investigated as a homicide. police say the suspect involvedis currently at large. coming up on kron4 news at eight.. find out which big state is defending president donald trump and his travel ban... plus... an east bay family is now suing the antioch police department... after a man's

new at 8: a gunman opened fire on a muni businjuring a man. now police say they've nabbed the suspect 29-year-old anthony ray was arrested yesterday at a home in vallejo. he's been booked on suspicion of attempted murder, and aggravated assault on a passenger of a streetcar. the shooting happened febuary ninth rail vehicle near the intersection of third and 22nd streets. officers found a 22-year-old man suffering from bullet wounds. that victim was taken to the hospital...where he is still recovering tonight. police are asking for the public's help in catching an east bay burglary suspect. . . they have released a photo. . you can see here. . .they say the crime took place last thursday on heinz avenue near the intersection of seventh street in berkeley.the suspect was filmed on surveillance video. . . at a parking lot. that's were he burglarized a parked car. . .the suspect is

described as a heavy-set black man between the ages of 22-and- 32.police describe the getaway vehicle as a newer model black mercedes with chrome rims. in the east bay... a man's brother is killed outside a gas station and the search for truth begins... a wrongful death lawsuit has been filed against an east bay police department-- for not releasing information to the victim's family. tonight the victim's brother tells kron4's haaziq madyun...the reason why he believes police are not releasing that information derrick childs believe he knows why his brother was shot to death by a man in antioch "they both have kids by the same woman""this is my brother right here laying on his back, this is the shooter, this is the officer"the incident happened back on februrary 13, 2016. he says after an investigation of the shooting antioch police told him "that

law suit. i was told they do not comment on pending litigation. antioch police chief allan cantando's office did not return my call for this story...in antioch haaziq madyun kron4news in national news tonight... the state of texas is splitting with other states and defending president trump's travel ban on travelers from seven predominantly muslim nations.. government officials from the lone star state filed documents with the san francisco-based ninth u-s circuit court earlier today. they are asking the court to reconsider its decision not to immediately reinstate the ban... they say the ban is a legal exercise of presidential authority. last week.... a three-judge panel refused to block a lower court decision that suspended the ban. the ninth circuit will decide whether to have a larger panel of judges reconsider that decision. a russian spy ship has been spotted patrolling in waters... just 30 miles south

storm debris has made its way down the mountains .... and into the san francisco bay. here is a look at the tree limbs and branches that floated into aquatic park cove in san francisco. the debris has been piling up over the last several weeks...but it's gotten really bad this week. the park service says, this typically happens after a lot of rain...and it is now renting a big dumpster so it can clear away the mess. right now, the beach there remains open... but the public is being told - be careful walking along the shore or swimming in the water...one swimmer describing it like swimming in soup. taking this live look out at the san mateo bridge
