and crews are back on highway 17 in the santa cruz mountainswhere a massive mudslide continue's to cause headaches for the morning commute. debris from the mudslide is still blocking part of the northbound lanes. crews are building an eight-foot berm along the entire length of the slide. they are trying to protect the drivers in the southbound lanes incase the slides get any worse during the next round of more rain at the oroville dam today has people concerned there may be another evacuation. officials say people who live downstream from the lake need to keep a bag packed just in case. state officials say the water

there is a high surf advisory in effect until 9 pm today for the coastline from sonoma county south through monterey county. impacts include increased risk of large shore break which can injure beachgoers, rip currents which can pull people into rough waters, and increased risk of sneaker waves which can knock unsuspecting beachgoers into the sea. in your extended forecast, the next storm arrives friday with the heaviest rain south of the golden gate but at least light rain for all locations. lingering showers into early saturday then dry through sunday afternoon. third system arrives sunday evening with another round of wind and rain into monday. periods of rain stay in the forecast tuesday and wednesday with a cold upper low off the coast.

a high-end restaurant in morgan hill is paying 120- thousand dollars in fines for scamming customers. the restaurant, "odeum" was caught serving people cheap fish while advertising and charging for a pricier one. it advertised petrale sole on their menu, but instead served people tilapia from october 20-14 to march 20-16. petrale sole is a type of flounder and a more expensive cut of fish than tilapia. odeum is offering 30-dollar gift certificates to people who ordered petrale sole during that time period. happening today... the murder trial of antolin garcia-torres cotinues this morning. he is the man accused of killing morgan hill teenager sierra lamar. sierra's notebook was the focus of several witness examinations yesterday.it was found after sierra's disappeppearance in 20-12 and had a runaway note inside the prosecutor dismissed the note as a cruel

prank. a handwriting analyst testified that the 15-year-old probably did not write the note, but he did not eliminate the possibility altogether. antolin garcia-torres faces the death penalty if convicted of sierra's a man is behind bars this morning in connection to a jewelry heist at the sears store in concord. police say 26-year-old kevin davis junior turned himself in last week. the burglary happened in december at the sun-valley mall.... and hundreds of thousands of dollars worth of jewelry was stolen. davis was previously arrested, but released due to lack of evidence. police say they later found more evidence that linked him to the crime... and issued a warrant for his arrest. davis is now facing felony charges. the jewelry is still missing. a rumor circulating online leads to panic in the east bay. it happened yesterday afternoon when people started posting that federal immigration officers were conducting operations in alameda and contra costa counties. the posts on social media said ice officers

had set up a checkpoint at a shopping center in richmond... and they were advising friends to avoid the area. posts also said ice agents were at contra costa college in san pablo... and near the west oakland bart station. none of those claims were verified. an ice spokesperson says they usually target specific people who pose a risk to the community... and they usually do not set up checkpoints. an undocumented immigrant and mother of four is holed up in a colorado church, defying officials who want her deported. jeanette vizguerra is seeking refuge in the church...and she's vowing to stay as long as it takes. this was the scene yesterday afternoon as demonstrators gathered outside the immigration office in colorado. vizguerra chose not to show up-- instead taking refuge inside a church. her request for a temporary stay was denied despite six previous requests that were granted. vizguerra burst into tears, realizing that she could be seperated from her children. country." vizguerra came to the

u.s. in 1997. she has three children who were born in the u.s. for now, she's moved into a denver church basement as an informal sanctuary. immigration officials have not commented on how they plan to go forward. in national news... the state of texas is splitting with other states and defending president trump's travel ban. government officials in texas filed documents with the san francisco-based ninth u-s circuit court yesterday. they are asking the court to reconsider its decision not to immediately reinstate the ban. they say the ban is a legal exercise of presidential authority. last week a

water officials say the largest reservoir in santa clara county is one the cusp of spilling over . but unlike the oroville dam, the anderson reservoir is not at risk of failure or causing major flooding. this is video that was shot after the last storm. you can see water being let out of the spillway. at ninety nine point three percent full, officials tried to drain as much water as they could before today's storms. officials say they haven't seen the reservoir this full since 2006. there is a rise in complaints of people reporting damage to their cars while driving on interstate 6-80 and highway 24. that is according to c-h-p. a woman sent this picture to kron four... she was driving on highway 24 when a softball size piece of cement flew through her windshield. c-h-p confirmed that there is no criminal activity going on here, they say it is just a bad road way that debris is hitting cars. caltrans says they have known about the

san francisco is the most expensive place to rent a home in the ááworld. that's according to london based company "nested"...who just released the "rental affordability index". researchers looked at several factors including the minimum salary needed to pay rent, and the cost of housing in major cities all over the world. in san francisco, the average monthly rent for one person is just over two-thousand dollars. and the income needed for one person to be able to live in the city is just below 86-thousand dollars per year. for a family of four... the salary needed is 163-thousand dollars. new york is the second most expensive... followed by hong kong, dubai, and singapore. a state senator is introducing legislation that could extend drinking hours in

arriving each hour and being out in place by helicopters and trucks. 150 members of the national guard have been called in to help. breaking news from overnight... a third person has been arrested for the assassination of north korean leader kim jong un's half brother. early this morning, police arrested the boyfriend of one of the women arrested for the murder of kim jong nam. he died monday after being sprayed in the face with a chemical at the airport. u.s. officials believe that the north koreans were behind his murder. kim jong nam had been critical of his brother's regime. we are following breaking news out of san jose... a v-t-a line has been re-routed because police officers are serving a search warrant and its causing streets to shut down. it is happening at a home near the intersection of south white road and tully road. and that's near raging waters we just got word that police are wrapping up the scene and roads will be open shortly. stay with

says a system used to form concrete walls was being raised when it failed. that platform then leaned at at 15-degree angle with the two-thousand pound concrete slab, and a 30-ton concrete pump on top. the construction company says they have successfully shored up the wall and platform... and there is no threat to the neighborhood. they are now working on a permanent fix. the project at 41 tehama street is a 37-story, 403-unit luxury residential tower near the transbay transit site. happening today... immigrants in the bay area and across the country are not going to work today in protest of president trump's immigration policies. the movement is called "a day without immigrants." it is meant to show how critical immigrants are to the u-s economy and the country's way of life. it comes as president trump pledged to increase deportation of immigrants living in the

also happening now.... crews are back on highway 17 in the santa cruz mountainswh ere a massive mudslide continue's to cause headaches for the morning commute. debris from the mudslide is still blocking part of the northbound lanes. crews are building an eight-foot berm along the entire length of the slide. they are trying to protect the drivers in the southbound lanes incase the slides get any worse during the next round of storms. this morning evacuations have been lifted in san francisco's soma neighborhood after a two-thousand pound

a new security warning for people who use yahoo. people are being notified that a hacker may have accessed their account without using a password. it is unclear how many people were affected by the hack. the company says hackers infiltrated peoples' accounts using "forged cookies." those are strings of data which can be used to allow people to access accounts without re- entering passwords. the hackings occured between 20-15 and 20-16. and it's the latest develpoment in yahoo's investigation of a mega-breach that exposed one billion users' data several years ago.
