in the south bay... northbound lanes on highway-17 in the santa cruz mountains are still closed this morning. crews are working to clear the mudslide that has blocked the northbound lanes off and on for more than a month. rain and dangerous conditions have delayed that work over the past few weeks. caltrans says there is now a geologist on site to assess when it is too dangerous to work...and when crews can resume. there is still no estimate to when all lanes will be open. highway 37 in novato is still closed and could flood again today as more rain hits. crews have been trying to make repairs to the road all week. highway 37 has closed 3 times in the last 2 months due to flooding... causing a commute headache in the north bay yesterday crews worked on building a barrier to keep water off of the road way. caltrans has not given an estimate to when that road will re-open. highway 37 usually carries forty one thousand vehicles a day in the east bay...

palomares road near niles canyon is closed this morning in alameda county. that's because a 700 pound boulder could come crashing down at any moment. this is a popular road for commuters traveling from alameda county to contra costa county. several rocks have already fallen and caused damage to the road. crews are hoping to have the boulder removed sometime today. county officials say they are trying to have at least one lane open by this afternoon. this weekend's rain raising concerns in the south bay where the anderson reservoir is almost at capacity already. we first told you about this story yesterday on the kron 4 morning news. anderson lake is already at more than 99-percent capacity and for the first time in decades water is expected to to start flowing over the reservoirs spillway and that could lead to flooding down stream in coyote creek. water
7:09 am
officials say low lying areas in morgan hill along coyote creek will likely see high water levels but whether flood water reaches any homes depends on how big the storms are this weekend. but flooding is not the only concern... a few years ago the anderson dam was determined to be seismically unsafe and officials say the reservoir is only supposed to be kept at 68 percent capacity for safety reasons. water officials say it could take up to 2 months to get the water level back down to where it is supposed to be. people who live near the oroville dam are worried they may have to evacuate again as more rain hits. but state water officials say they are confident a damaged spillway and eroded hillside can withstand the approaching storms. crews identified the three areas where erosion was causing a problem. they say one area has been fully repaired, while the other parts are 25 percent and 69 percent fixed. earleir this week nearly 200-thousand

this weekend's rain raising concerns in the south bay where the anderson reservoir is almost at capacity already. we first told you about this story yesterday on the kron 4 morning news. anderson lake is already at more than 99-percent capacity and for the first time in decades water is expected to to start flowing over the reservoirs spillway and that could lead to flooding down stream in coyote creek. water officials say low lying areas in morgan hill along coyote creek will likely see high water levels but whether flood water reaches any homes depends on how big the storms are this weekend. but flooding is not the only concern... a few years ago the anderson dam was determined to be seismically unsafe and officials say the reservoir is only supposed to be kept at 68 percent capacity for safety reasons. water officials say it could take up to 2 months to get the water level back down to where it is supposed to be. and we will continue to track the storm hitting the bay area today on air...and online. download the kron four mobile app to stay up to
