(grant) the undersheriff held a press conference today and basically said, look, i get it, we want answers too, we're frustrated too...but as of right now...there is no clear motive. but there are snipets of new information we're learning... in his car at the mandalay bay, paddock had 50 pounds of tannerite, which could have created a massive explosion. elsewhere, a note was found on the shooter's nightstand...not a suicide note, at least not a clear one. the piece of paper had a series of numbers. also tonight, a u.s. official says investigators believe paddock may have hired a prostitute in the days before the shooting, and they are interviewing
8:08 pm
other call girls. those prostitutes are among the hundreds of leads they are pursuing. the official also says that paddock had taken at least 20 cruises in the last few years, many of them with his girlfriend marilou danley. at least one of the cruises was to the middle east. and there are conflicting reports about whether paddock bought and used tracer bullets. those are special bullets, which illuminate the path of fired bullets so shooters can see whether their aim is correct....esepcially at night. all this as memorials dot the city of las vegas....as we are entering the first weekend since the massacre at the country music festival last sunday. (catherine) as police hunt for a motive....the outpouring of support for the victims continues.. there are two events tonight to remember the people who were killed..
