broke out around 11 o'clock last night on calmar avenue. firefighters say four adults and two children lived inside the home. when crews arrived ... smoke was coming from the home and two people were suffering from smoke inhalation.( darya ) the children and one other adult got out safely. another adult was rescued from the second floor. a third adult died in the home before they could be rescued. ( james ) breaking overnight news just in to the kron4 newsroom. san jose police are investigating a deadly stabbing and the attacker is still on the loose. it happened on branham lane east just after midnight. officers say the man was suffering from at least one stab wound. he died at the hospital. ( darya ) our big story this morning... is the number of people still missing in the north bay wildfires. investigators are still looking for fifty-three people who have not been heard from since the fire broke out more than a week ago. right now 200 search and rescue

workers are combing the burned out areas looking for any evidence that people died in the rubble. it's a very long process that involves cadavar dogs and forensic scientists combing through ashes. twenty-six of the people missing are from santa rosa. the others are from parts of sonoma county. ( james ) and this morning firefighters continue to make progress battling the fires in napa and sonoma county.( darya ) the 'nuns fire' in napa and sonoma counties.... has burned more than 52- thousand acres... but it is now 78-percent contained. the 'atlas fire' in napa and

solano counties ... has burned just over 51-thousand acres... and is 80-percent contained. ( james ) the tubbs fire burning in sonoma and napa counties has burned more than 36-thousand acres, and it is now 87-percent contained. and the pocket fire burning north of geyserville in sonoma county has burned nearly 12-thousand acres and is now 58-percent contained. more than 11-thousand firefighters are on the front lines this morning. ( darya ) and this morning more people are being allowed to return home in santa rosa.( james ) the evacuation order has been lifted in the city's oakmont neighborhood.( darya ) kron 4's lydia pantazes is live in that neighborhood this morning with the latest. and people are returning to check out their homes. this includes all streets south of highway 12, east of calistoga road to pythian road. however, all northbound roads off highway 12, including highway 12 eastbound at pythian road, will still be closed under mandatory evacuations orders. while some homes had smoke inside them, many people were happy to return to their homes still standing.

mandatory evacuations have been lifted after a fire broke out in dublin. it happened yesterday afternoon near tassajara and fallon roads. according to cal fire it has burned 116 acres and is 75- percent contained this morning. right now no homes are being threatened... and there are no reports of any injuries. ( darya ) firefighters were also on scene overnight after a fire broke out in sausalito. this happened near highway 101. it started just north of spencer avenue. at one point, the flames forced all

southbound lanes of highway- 101 to shut down. al lanes have since reopened. the fire burned about four- acres. there are no reports of any injuries. (james) two people in the north bay found a unique way to save the lives of house pets in burned out neighborhoods. the pets were separated from their owners during the evacuations. kron 4's gabe slate has the story. ((pkg)) nats - for the last 4 days judy stark and peter tapia have driven up from san francisco in the morning to the sonoma humane society in santa rosa and loaded up hundreds of pounds of cat food.nats - water and barrels of water.. then they go to the evacuated burned out neighborhoods like coffey park in sant rosa, where house pets are estranged from their owners.. nats - food drop and they drop the food and water in places where they, or the national guard ,who are on site 24-7, have seen cats come out in the evening looking for food. sot - judy stark - american medical response

(amr) they lost their homes, we don't want them to lose their pets too. they know there are atleast 20 cats, house pets, alive here in the coffey park burned out neighborhood they are eatingthe food and drinking the water they leave out sot - judy stark - american medical response (amr) we will save these fur babies nats - food toss across town at the journey's end mobile home park where most of the units burned down there are even more pets waiting for their owners to return for them. sot - judy stark - american medical response (amr) there are 60 here they are behind the fense so peter tosses over wet food cans of cat food.. and lifts these 50 pound bags and tosses the food over. nats - food toss peter and judy and not animal rescue workers they are animal lovers they are with amr, american medial response the

( james ) new this morning a santa rosa couple who lost there home in the tubbs fire is suing p-g-and-e. they claim the fire was caused by negligence. the say p-g- and-e did not do a good enough job maintaining electric lines and pruning trees. the couple says their home on mocha lane was destroyed. fire investigators have not said what started the fire. this is the ifrst lawsuit to be filed in the wake of the north bay firestorm. ( james ) despite all of the

destruction caused by the north bay firestorm...we continue to hear stories of heroism.( darya ) that includes one man in santa rosa who took action to save the homes of several of his neighbors. kron 4's charles clifford shares his story. natstuesday afternoon, neighbors valerie burns and sean wilson, met up for the first time since fire forced them from their homes more than a week ago. valerie invited kron 4 to this reunion because she wanted to publicly thank sean for saving her house.sothe's my hero, yes, absolutely.valerie and sean live next door to each other along wiki drive in northeast santa rosa. when the tubbs fire roared through their neighborhood early on the morning of october 9th, both fled the advancing flames. sean watched the fire from a few miles away.sotthe next morning he walked back to his house, convinced he would find it burned to the ground.sot with no water available, sean grabbed a rake and shovel and

spent the next three hours keeping the flames at bay. he went back and forth putting out spot fires and raking leaves. when the fire had come within just a few feet of valerie's back yard, sean spotted fire fighters nearby and got their attention. sot valeria and her family were staying at a shelter in healdsburg when sean called them to say their home was saved.soti couldn't believe it. i really couldn't.and while sean was able to save his house and several of his neighbors house h,e feels for those who have lost everything. sotvalerie hopes that sean's actions will serve as an inspiration.sotnow , unfortunaly, sean's parents lost their home as well. they lived just a short distance away from him. recognizable bay area landmarks lost in the wildfires --- was the so- called "glass house" in fairfield..( james ) lots of people knew this home ... built in 2003 on the south summit of the twin sisters peaks.. because of the atlas fire ... there's not much left except twisted metal and its concrete foundation. the glass house stood on twin sisters road in fairfield - close to the border of solano and napa counties.( darya ) it was built in 2003 at a cost of roughly 17- million dollars. like so many other homes - it went up

in flames late last week.( james ) here is what it looked like before the fire. the home was spread across more than 13-thousand square feet...and included a helicopter pad...( darya ) the current owners bought it in 2012. they live in texas and used the estate as a vacation home. they say that they plan to re- buildi.....saying they'll make it better than before. 9 last night on westbound interstate 580 between redwood road and strobridge avenue. (ááátriggerááá) officers say the gunman in a black car started shooting at a nissan on the highway. a 21-year- old man inside that nissan was injured and taken to the hospital. he has been released. ( darya ) another big story. investigators are still looking for fifty-three people who have not been heard from since the north bay wildfires broke out more than a week ago. right now 200 search and rescue workers are combing the burned out areas looking for any evidence that people died in the rubble. it's a very long process that involves cadavar dogs and forensic scientists combing through ashes. twenty-six of the people missing are from santa rosa. the others are from parts of sonoma county.

residents who lost their home in the fires are still unable to go back and search for anything they left behind -- including their pets. that's why -- for the last 4 days -- judy stark and peter tapia have driven up from san francisco to the sonoma humane society in santa rosa. they've loaded up hundreds of pounds of cat food and water to take to burned out neighborhoods like coffey park. they drop it off in areas where they, or the national guard, have seen cats come out in the evening looking for food. ( james ) stark says there are at least 20 former house pets -- in the

ford is recalling over one million cars because of a possible problem with the car doors. the cars impacted are the f-150's made between 2015 and 2017 and the 2017 super duty. ford says some cars have a frozen door latch or bent cable that can cause the door not to open or close. the door could look like its closed, but not be fully latched. so far -- no accidents or injuries have been reported. the company says its dealers will fix the problem for free. (james) we have more breaking news this morning... this time out of oakland. one person has died and two others are critically injured in a house fire in the lakeshore neighborhood. the fire broke out around 11 o'clock last night on calmar avenue. firefighters say four adults and two children lived inside the home. when crews arrived ... smoke was coming from the home and two people were suffering from smoke inhalation.( darya ) the children and one other adult got out safely. another adult was rescued from the second floor. a third adult died in the home before they could be rescued. employers may now be dealing with the effects of having to close or employees needing time off. employees dealing with fallout from a fire may be able to use sick leave or family leave if someone is sick, or child leave if a child's school is closed. employees who no longer have a place to work due to a disaster may apply for disaster unemployment assistance from california's employment development department. there are no legal leave options for people who might get evacuated or are dealing with a destroyed or damaged home, but employers may grant it anyway in the interest of a workers' well- being. pg&e wildfire probes,

players rest and put "swaggy p" in their place. that was a pretty good performance by swaggy p. i'm surprised they lost.( darya ) kerr says they need conditioning. (henry) are you kidding darya? that team could run a marathon right now. they are not like me and eat doughnuts every morning. do you remember what they did opening night last year?( darya ) they lost.(henry) they lost by almost 20 points to the san antonio spurs. this time they lost by more. they got caught up with all the championship stuff. they were star struck by their own success.( darya ) another close one lebron and the cavs beat kyrie and the celtics. this was just by three points and boston without their big player. he had a gruesome injury. (henry) i covered gordon hayward when he was in high school in indiana, i was working in indianapolis at the

time. he signed a 4-year- contract for $128 billion dollars they believe in this guy. he is only 27 years old i was annoyed because they were following him all the way onto the stretcher.( darya ) when my kid gets injured, i don't make a big deal out of it. the last thing you want to do is be gasping and running. it makes it worse when you do that.(henry) i thought he held his composure really well. he was obviously in a lot of pain. i've seen accidents like this before. we don't know when he will recover, but he definitely will make a full return.( darya ) i don't have to worry about my kid getting

hurt because rowing is a very civilized sport. i get to see competitors rowing in the head of charles regatta 2016 in boston. have you heard of it? my son is playing on a team from marin. it's like the super bowl of rowing. kind of a big deal. they go through 6 bridges. it's dangerous, treacherous and three miles long. huge honor to go. they compete with people all around the world. the marin team had to practice. everyone did.

here they are practicing last week during the smokey conditions in marin. ( darya ) the head of charles regatta is on october 21st through the 22nd. they even have special shirts made. i will be rooting for marin and california while i'm in boston. alright woof. take care.n.
